This is a very beautiful place to stay . We can’t wait to go back

The property has amazing history and the people at the desk, and the people who made up our room were so kind. The friends who came to see the place with us wanted to stay the night and couldn't even though there were only 2 parties staying in the house. There were plenty of rooms available, but we were told "corporate won't allow one night stays." It was fun being able to access the main house, and watch the barge traffic from the balcony, as an overnight guest. The restaurants and bar are closed so I wouldn't call it a resort. More of an in-home stay like a vacation rental.

Check in was cumbersome. Paper work to be filled out duplicated all on-line details. Why a piece of paper with security questions including Credit Card confidential numbers? Restaurant is closed indefinitely, not informed until arrival. Nearest restaurant was 20 miles away

Property is not maintained as it used to be. Coffee is not good. Breakfast should be available. Otherwise you will drive ten miles for good coffee and a donut. Appears to be no management at the property.

This property is stunning. Our rooms are very spacious and decorated to the time. The grounds are beautiful. The BIG house took my breath away. A must see!

1st room we had was not clean and we found mold. Also had plumbing issues. 2nd room was better, but it took a lot of time and effort to get acceptable room.
4.5
It was good. I was expecting WOW but it was just okay. The furniture in the cottage we stayed in could be updated. It seemed clean.
The property is gorgeous I wish we would have gone early enough for the tour.

This property is beautiful! We loved our cottage and enjoyed our stay. The view of the pond was perfect and we loved the furnishings plus front porch rocking chairs!
Understanding that this property is large with many areas to maintain, we still felt like it had some areas that needed updating or attention. The grounds are beautifully kept, but the pool area looked abandoned and an old swing was in disrepair, the movie room was inoperable as well.
Unused areas seemed like storage spaces, but those rooms could be cleared or staged for viewing guests.
All of that said, the needed updates would not deter us from staying there again in the future. It’s a Diamond in the rough, and I’m hopeful that since we are now past Covid, more visitors will choose to stay at this antebellum treasure.

Happy Nottoway has reopened. Understand it's a slow process to reach the level of hospitality once enjoyed there. Please manage more responsibly. We hosted family and wedding couple there Labor Day weekend. Cheese plates requested and paid for were never delivered. One couple moved on first review of their room. Son & granddaughter were consistently checked out of his room and had to be rechecked the entire weekend. No complaints from the newlyweds. Love is bliss. They stayed their wedding night before leaving for honeymoon. Please bring back Nottoway full speed again. It is a cherished & respected respite for locals and tourists.

We enjoyed a great girls weekend at Nottoway. The property is beautiful. They just reopened as a resort and the restaurant and bar was under staffed but Whitney went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The tour by Brock was beyond awesome. We toured 4 plantations and he was the most engaged and knowledgeable by far. We can’t wait to return for a couples weekend soon!

Upside The room was ok, the grounds were pretty but some areas needed work. Down side the pool was dirty, no hot tub as advertised, no spa that I could find. For the price I was expecting a little more.

We love Nottoway. It seems since Covid the place needs some TLC. They are having trouble keeping employees... not necessarily their fault.
Some of the areas could use a good cleaning/paint. But the charm of Nottoway is still there.
The employees in the restaurant were professional even though several were new employees. The food was good. Please make a reservation to eat at the restaurant...we received bad information..."you don't need a reservation" to eat at the restaurant.
We are hoping on our next visit things are improved. This really is a charming place.

The clerk at the desk was unable to login to find my reservation. He dealt with a manager in the phone. This process went in for over an hour. There were no clean rooms, so the manager ghat had been texting with the clerk came to clean a room for us. Upon checkout, I was told that my credit card was charged for the room because the payment was not received from Expedia. This was done without discussion or notification.
The room was nice. The property was beautiful. The pool gate was open, but the pool was green. There was a hot tub cover, but no hot tub. The clerk was unaware if the restaurant was going to be open

Well I wish that I could say it was amazing but after driving an hour out of our way after making a reservation… we arrived and we’re told that they had no rooms , totally full and apologized. Totally unacceptable!

Fire alarm sounded for 45 minutes before the problem was solved. Sat in my car because of the ear piercing sound, so it was a rough night.

It was the best I will visit again it was quiet we explored the grounds seeing great vision of what use to be back then. Hope to get a job there I love it that much.

Beautiful place and nicely kept.
The front desk - both times I went wanted nothing to do with being helpful. They were rude, unfriendly, the day shift basically refused to hang up on her personal call until after waiting for several minutes I just started to look at her. No historian on site- I get it, but no one even bothered to listen to the one question I had about Nottoway, so I didn’t even ask it. I wanted a print from the gift shop, sign said they were behind the desk- clerk said “we don’t have that”- no surprise there. The property is amazing the front desk/ visitors area help is a joke. Both times I went, two separate employees.

Our stay at Nottoway was fantastic. The house is gorgeous as well as the grounds and very well maintained. The food in the restaurant was great. Our house tour guide, Brandi, is a natural at her job....not only adorable but her sense of humor engages visitors into the history of the property. The one and only disappointment was that in a 56,000 square foot house you don’t get to see very much of it. I thinking opening up more of the house and taking guests into places where other plantations tours don’t, would set this home in a league if it’s own. We really enjoyed every moment of our stay and would definitely stay there again and again. Loved it!!!

Overall, very good. Had some noisy neighbors that took over the porch and chairs, but the grounds and facilities were great.

The room is described on the website as "Classic Double Room, Multiple Beds, Non Smoking, Garden Area" and that the bed choice as "1 Large Single Bed and 1 Queen Bed" whereas in fact the en suite room has but one double bed only, so suitable solely for couples. When raised with Reception, their response was that different rooms on offer in this 3 storey building had different bed provision! Pictures on room description now removed from website - but these were misleading when we booked! In practice, rooms are within a converted 3 storey house with modest sound insulation - footsteps in room above very clearly heard. That said bed was comfortable and room was clean and of a fair size, though plug mechanism on wash basin not working and curtains were difficult to draw fully. Service at dinner was perfunctory. Highly unlikely that we would stay again if in the area - despite great welcome at check-in (the best part of our stay!).

Beautiful plantation hotel. Upgraded our room to a cottage, service from everyone was fantastic. I highly recommend this place, which we could have stayed longer.

Interesting History tour of the mansion with Brandi.

It was amazing. Beautiful antebellum home and buildings. Lush grounds. All the amenities plus the ambiance of the old south. Luxury and affordable. Staying at a plantation was on my bucket list. I checked it off but I so want to go again!

We planned a visit here for one night before heading into New Orleans for the Mardi Gras weekend. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a cabin when they found out there were four of us. The cabin was spacious and clean, we just wished that it had more comfortable beds - they were a bit too soft-sided. The grounds here are beautifully maintained and the restaurant had great service and delicious food - you must try the rosemary bread if you visit. We watched the movie about the history of Nottoway in the in-site cinema. We liked that it was self-start so we didn’t have to wait. We toured the home on our own and were fascinated with the preservation of it all. It was a true educational experience; however, my suggestion for the resort is to have more history about ALL the people who deserve credit for the history of the plantation. We felt like there should have been greater acknowledgement and respect regarding the slaves who contributed so much to the economy and welfare of the area while doing so against their will. While we cannot erase the injustice and cruelty of the past, it should not be ignored and needs to be addressed as a part of the whole story of Nottoway.

The shower had pubic hair all over the bottom was dirty and in the corner was a razor cover bugs on the wall absolutely dissatisfied then dinner took 45 min to get our food and it sucked but the grounds were beautiful what a shame looks can be deceiving

Very nice and well kept. Accomidstions superb. Staff is very congenial and accomidating
4.5
Broken furnitures, squeaky floor, water leaking from ceiling.
4.5
Buildings are older and thus not as draft-free nor as pristine, but considering the age of the property it was a minor issue.
4.5
The food and drinks were fantastic!! The rooms were very clean up to date and spacious. We had plenty of privacy! The plantation is stunning! We will definitely be returning

Fantastic staff, with extra special care if my 76 year old mother. It was a wonderful experience for us!
4.5
It was a unique setting and made me reflect on the history or the South and the struggles of the slaves in those days.

My stay was Amazing. Truly sad that I didn’t pay the extra to stay in the Master Suite. Stayed on the 2nd floor, room was enormous. Full of amazing period treasures including a clawfoot tub, antique armoire & dresser set, & fireplace (which although not functional was still Amazing). Was a little warm as the wall ACs quite outdated, little space fan they placed in the room did wonders when placed on a nightstand & faced right at the bed. Linens were crispy clean. You really felt right at home. The only really disappointing parts of my room were A. that even though the listing said I shared a Veranda with room 15, the windows do not open to do so. There are rockers on it, but no way to access them. B. the TV is only about 19”, from 15 ft away where the bed is located, you really have to crank it to hear & see it. There’s a Tour of the Mansion that does cost extra. Tour was lovely. The Breakfast buffet each morning has a pretty decent selection for $14. My table neighbors did try to order off of the Breakfast menu, but were told the Chef was not doing Breakfast outside of the Buffet. Very odd for a Saturday morning with a full house. My breakfast pastries with unlimited bacon were enjoyed it immensely. I did not take part in a Dinner at the Restaurant as the Dress Code is Dress Casual & I packed only Quirky Bohemian for my 5 day tour of the Deep South. Grounds were lovely, Garden mostly to seed already. Did notice that there may be staffing issues.
