Hotel is an oasis in an otherwise noisy and busy area

I have been my in this hotel many times as it's all located near areas of my activity. The hotel had gone through some useful upgrade during the pandemic and it is quite up to date.

Ambience of the hotel and Fitness Centre is good.
Also service of the staff is really good.
If Fitness centre will have massage, then, it will be really good for the guest.

Not for tourist on the way in as it is not very central but a great place to relax after you have done your trekking. Fab pool and good gym in a tranquil garden setting. Good varied breakfast but other meals a bit pricey. Some good cheaper restaurants nearby.

Hotel Himalaya is one of my preferred hotel in Kathmandu. June 2022 was the last time I stayed in H Himalaya and I was impressed that it had gone through upgrade during the pandemic. This time however, I was a bit disappointed as I was given a room that was not upgraded and the pillow smelled.
Overall I am still happy overall with my stay but I do wish the management can keep up with maintenance and housekeeping of the hotel.

Generally, I enjoyed my stay here. However, because of renovation work, some facilities was closed. Room service menu was also changed, without changing menu guide at rooms.

I’m really disappointed I booked for my wife & daughter to stay & they explain to me that heater & air conditioning are not working, middle of night they have call reception asking for the heater. Plug systems are very old system . Dinner wise good but few menu dishes are not available aswell. Hopefully they are going to improve these things. This time not happy sorry to explain this way.

Himalaya Hotel is my most favoured place to stay when I arrive at Kathmandu for various reasons. First, it's one of the cleanest property around, with great ambience - including clean rooms, toilets and swimming pool.
Secondly, the staff is extremely polite and helpful. They are always so homecoming and supportive. They will talk to you and connect on a personal level - be it the security staff at gate or restaurant staff or reception.
Food is excellent, the breakfast has a lot of varieties.

Hotel Himalaya is an up-scale, but not ostentatious, hotel in the Lalitpur section of Kathmandu. Pick-up and drop off at the airport worked well, even during a monsoonal downpour. Rooms are quite comfortable and the A/C takes care of both the heat and the humidity. The restaurant serves a variety of dishes, and all that I tried tasted good. The menu is probably a better value than the buffet. For breakfast the buffet usually is included with the room along with a station where you can order fried eggs or an omelet. Rooms on the 5th floor, where I stayed, have steps down to a seating area next to the window and to the desk. There is no railing for these steps. There also are a couple of steps down into the shower area, there was no tub. Some rooms allow smoking. Be sure to ask for a non-smoking room if that is an important consideration. Hotel shops run about 30% above the price at the shops outside the hotel. Places to eat outside are available, but are not easily spotted from the street unless you know where you are going. Location is central and traffic is corresponding in its intensity

Great view from my room, good and personal service, cosy and comfortable room, good desk for working, super housekeeping, great breakfast, daily newspaper, super wifi, generous supply of water bottle supply, easy to get a taxi, shopping and ATM within short walking distance. Nice garden with a beautiful temple area. I enjoyed being back once again!
