Lovely couple running the business but it’s closing down so no breakfast available.

We had stayed here a few years ago and loved it. But now - uncommunicative, no answer to emails/phone calls, front door and room keys left in an envelope outside, no restaurant, no breakfast, terrible mattress, room only had a sea view if you stood on a box, room was cramped, wifi password was incorrect, host information was well out of date, sheet and mattress protector didn't fit properly and came off.

A B&B with a very low standard, average customer service, a dirty room and a bed with springs coming through the mattress. The only view was from a velux window of which we had to stand on a box to see out.

Dated hotel, poor standard of cleanliness and repair. Blind in bedroom broken, toilet flush took a few attempts and noisy extractor as needed cleaning
Room spacious and bed comfortable and hotel in good location however

I really hate to write bad reviews but I really don’t have a choice! We had booked a room with a four poster bed and jacuzzi bath, to be given a completely different room with a horribly uncomfortable bed (could feel every spring) and a shower cubicle. After a long day of climbing a mountain I could have cried that we didn’t have the jacuzzi bath I had booked. The room was also filthy.
The bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The toilet especially - use your imagination.
We were so tired as it was late and we were exhausted, that we just went to sleep and left as early as possible in the morning.
I really thought we had found a little gem when we booked this hotel, but it was one of our worst stays which is really upsetting.

Very thick dust on wall mounted headboard, bedside tables and bedside lampshades. Cleaned them myself with anti-bac wipes. I will not even comment on state of toilet brush and holder

Although the room looks a little tired, it was clean, spacious, comfortable bed, nice fluffy towels and a lovely sea view. Easy check-in and check-out.
Price is good for a room only. I’d stay again.

So the biggest disappointment was thow I booked room to include breakfast , I was informed on arrival there was none due to issues with the kitchen , apparently hotels .com were told but failed to remove the information regarding this , still , wasn’t a good start , other than that the owner was helpful in letting me use fridge to buy my own breakfast in , and room was clean , bed s we’re comfortable , only thing that again was disappointing was no one came into room for the four days to empty bin , change towels etc , which has never happened anywhere else I have ever stayed at , so if these issues were sorted out all in all anyone would have a nice stay ,

Stephen was very helpful when we checked in.

Having stayed at this hotel before , disappointed to find it has been neglected. Room was dirty , carpets needing hoovering , dust and fingerprints everywhere . Decor poor state of repair., door lock not working , roller blind broken and bathroom decorating not finished. Feels like owners have given up on it . Shame because location is excellent .

Not a hotel or even a bed and breakfast. No restaurant available or breakfast. Bar shut and whole place was run down. Wallpaper hanging off the walls, dirty carpets and tired decor. Staff were friendly and helpful but place was not as advertised.

I booked room 1, and it overlooked the waterfront. It was beautiful, and the room was very comfortable. The host was kind and gracious to us. The shower seemed a little hard to figure out, but that could just be user error (American background), and the sink in the bathroom didn’t have hand soap. Other than that, the home is very well kept and nice, not unlike the hosts. I would highly recommend booking room 1 for the incredible view, and I wouldn’t recommend anywhere but Moelwyn Bed and Breakfast to stay in Criccieth. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely hosts . Great views

Seamless check in and a pleasant stay.

Great location - sea view.
Functional - no major issues
Great character if some fittings (eg carpet) are a little dated
You are given a room key and a key to the front door - no one in reception most of the time. Feels like staying in your own room rather than a hotel!

Owners were exceptionally friendly and allowed an early check-in. Couldn’t have asked for more

My wife & I stayed her for one night in late June 2024 before visiting Portmeirion the following day (less than half an hour away). We got a good deal, being cheaper than other hotels in the area. We particularly liked the location right on the seafront - we were able to listen to the waves as they gently rolled in.

very good service with very friendly owners, would highly recomend

Having read poor reviews we were so concerned, we had a backup. However it wasn't as bad as expected. Granted, the property needs an overhaul and spending on new linen etc pillowcases not matching etc, but in clean, even if not ironed, condition. Lovely sea view and although not attentive, the hosts were friendly. They don't have food options at all, but there's a lot of nearby options for breakfast /dinner.

The room was not very practical, for instance huge sofa under the television, so one had to sit on the bed to watch tv. Bed itself was about a metre high, we both have athritis, in both knees and one hip.
Shower was very unusual and difficult to control the temperature. Risk of injury from hot water, instructions in how to use would have been good. High step into shower/ bath enclosure, difficult for unsteady people. Again risk of injury.
Would have been better, had we recieved advice about swapping dirty cups
We were not able to access any emails, whilst we were away, but did get an email, about 2 days prior to stay, from Moelwynn, asking us to confirm whether or not we were coming. We think this was extraordinary, were they looking to sell the room again, in the event of us deciding not to stay.
My wife would have welcomed some help with her stuff to the top of the house

It was a shame they were not doing breakfast and the bar wasn't in use.

Nice clean room, comfy bed. Loo with a view! Great view from the skylight with a step to stand on. Fabulous location.

We had a room overlooking the bay. Great views. Room decor was dated as was the bathroom en suite. No food available as advertised or drinks. Advised to go to local pub if we needed food. Reasonable price but lacking in amenities. If its just a bed you are after with views then this is the place for you. Close to the shops and cafés. A one night stay is enough though.

Information on what is happening is woefully inadequate, no restaurant available and poor communication. Everywhere needs a good clean and revite. However great location and views.

Reception was chaos. Previous attempts to make contact by phone and 'mail' did not produce a reply. just needed confirmation that my room was a Twin and not a double, but no reply. no food available on site despite advertising it. Local pub excellent! Parking cramped but OK

Great B&B about 40 yards from the beach and under 10 min walk to a fabulous cliff top castle.
Parking outside the whole time. Comfortable, traditional room, with nice shower, tv, hairdryer, and tea and coffee facilities. Very quiet, could listen to the sea lapping at night. Would definitely stay again.

Attic room so only a skylight, although there is a platform that allows you to look out onto the beach.
We stayed here to allow us to visit Portmierion which is only about a 20 minute drive
Very friendly hosts, shame it is currently room only as nice small terrace on the front which would be lovely for a quiet drink / breakfast

Had a gorgeous view of the sea. Stephen and Jo were super friendly and sympathetic to my autistic grandson
