- This hotel is a total scam. We went there but it was under maintenance. The security guy sent us to Golden Tulip hotel.
- The guy at the reception told us that Golden Tulip is 4-star hotel which is not even actually deserving 2-stars
- The breakfast has almost nothing. And what they serve was all perished.
- Rooms were horrible, noisy and dirty.
- The staff attitude was the only thing we appreciated.

When i booked the room, according to Expedia, it included half board. Nevertheless, on arrival the hotel disputed this and claimed that only breakfast was included despite my Expedia booking confirmation showing half board. The person on reception wasnt very helpful and did little to resolve the problem. After talking to the Reservations Manager I was offered one complimentary dinner. Sadly, the hotel doesnt serve dinner in its restaurant, you have to go to their sister hotel - The Golden Tulip - over the road. On arrival the restaurant was rammed with people, so i just gave up. Aside from the issue with being ripped off over food, the rest of the experience was disappointing too. Half of the power sockets in the room didnt work, WIFI didnt reach the fifth floor, the air con was horrendously noisy even on a low setting, there was hardly any hot water in the morning and the bathroom was dirty. Bizarrely the TV remote, hair dryer and lamp switches were all covered in cling film, almost as if the hotel didnt want you touching them. All-in-all a poor experience. The one positive thing is the hotels location, which is very central.

This was a terrible place! Apart from the receptionist who was nice and polite.... nothing to recommend at all! The hotel looks good on pictures but it’s a disaster In reality! The room was ok although nothing to be impressed with! The swimming pool was cas trophique and so was breakfast! I will never go back there even if I went for free!

Everyone at the Mina was very gracious and accommodating. The key card would not work on our room and there was no security lock. The person at the front desk changed our room. We were fortunate to get an ocean view. The area is active and great for walking night and day, and the breakfast at Mina is excellent. We would stay again when we return to Jordan

Though none of the advertised restaurants in the hotel were open, the rooms were clean, the air conditioning worked and the staff were pleasant.

Hotel was a bit dated and rooms needed smartening up - particularly bathroom and balcony. The lady on reception was very inexperienced and seemed to frequently leave her post meaning there was a long wait to check in.

Nothing was like the pictures they showed. The rooms didn't even have a working AC. Towels were ripped and bed sheets had brown stains on them. Supposedly there is free wifi but there wasn't and free parking was whatever you found in the street. This is more of a scam then it is a deal. Probably the last time I use Expedia! Shameful!

Mina hotel was a stop-over for us on our way to Wadi Rum and Petra. Although Aqaba was not one of the bigger attraction for us during our Jordan journey, a stop at Aqaba and a stay at Mina Hotel worked out great. Hotel itself is centrally located, has super WiFi and a very friendly staff. If you are passing through Aqaba or there for a longer snorkeling/diving activities, this hotel could be very convenient and very cost effective. Highly recommend it. BTW for foreign travelers, right across from the hotel are a bunch of restaurants and you can have a choice of cuisine wiithin steps away from where you live.

Hotel was so dirty that we had to wear shoes in the room to prevent our feet from turning black, door on cabinet for fridge was coming off the hinges, fridge needed a defrost so to allow door to shut properly, shower in bathroom had flimsy rod holding up the shower curtain and shower sprayed out back and front. However, the room was huge, included a living room and 2 bedrooms in addition to the bath, beds were comfortable, and it was in a great location within walking distance to beach, restaurants, shops, etc. We could see the Red Sea from the windows, and although they lacked screens, it was great that they opened to catch the breeze. Pool was OK but towels and cleanliness were lacking. Staff was not responsive to our concerns about the couch in the room, which was stained and dirty like all the furniture (even in the lobby), and wreaked of rotten food or a dead mouse. Restaurant was closed the whole time we were there, but that's probably for the best. WiFi was terrible, and only barely worked in the lobby, ended up going to restaurant on corner to use theirs.

Our room was very nice but unfortunately the rest of the hotel was very disappointing. They originally gave us the wrong room when we checked in and the wifi didn't work for our whole visit. The hotel was under refurbishment and so was very messy with building equipment and materials in the corridors and blocking the stairs and we couldn't use the pool area as this was also being refurbished. Breakfast was quite limited and the receptionist didn't even know where breakfast was being served and sent us to the wrong floor.

Spent two nights at Mina, mother and daughter, early twenties. Tons of sugar estate smoke in the lobby; couldn't use pool because full of kids and men; this was quite disappointing. This is a conservative Arab Muslim country. Women travellers need to remember this.

We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room (floor not cleaned and slime in the shower. Plastic cups in bathroom had someone elses toothpaste remains in them). We also had to ask for towels to be delivered even after leaving them hanging so as to not have them replaced during our 2 day stay. We were also disturbed at 2.00 am on the last morning of our stay with a call from reception saying our driver was waiting. After some discussion it was determined that reception had dialled the wrong room. The final insult was to have the reception person accuse us of stealing from the mini bar when we checked out. The mini bar was never fully stocked during our stay despite two visits from housekeeping staff during the first day. I am still extremely offended that after saying that we did not use the mini bar during our stay, the male receptionist said perhaps your wife used it when you were not looking. My wife was standing right there when he made the accusation. We will not be recommending the Mina hotel in Aqaba to anyone.

A hotel that lives up to the rating. Good location in the "city centre" of Aqaba. Restaurants just around the corner and also easy to get a hold of taxis outside the hotel. Located just behind Doubletree by Hilton. The hotel (as well as most others) is cooperating with "Berenice" (a pool- & beacharea by the south beach you can go to by bus for apr. 10 JOD). The breakfast isn't the most culinary you can find, but enough to get full. Though very cold (due to A/C) both in the corridors and restaurant, so bring a warm sweater when off to eat breakfast. If you're thinking about ordering something by the waiter by the pool, it might be a good idea to ask for the price first...

The hotel is run down but is in a central and convenient location. Breakfast was poor. However, I have a very good impression of the hotel mainly because of one of the receptionist - Sadeq, who was extremely helpful and professional, especially in recommending tours and restaurants.

The worst experience I had on my trip to Egypt, Jordan and Israel was without doubt this place. They gave me a room on the 4th floor, room 408 if I remember correctly. It was absolutely disgusting!!! Dirtiest carpets I've seen in awhile, no towels and only after three phone calls to reception and 45min later did I get some to shower, no hot water, nowhere to put the soap so was left to put it on a terribly dirty and moldy shower floor and aircon didn't work. Only after going downstairs and complaining did they move into a room reminiscent of the photos they have posted on Expedia. Was happy with the room in the end but my experience was ruined by then. Breakfast in the morning was an absolute zoo. Kids running round like it was the school playground. The staff have no control. Avoid this place if you can.

Located next to the Hilton, a perfect Hotel for stop over in Aqaba on way to Petra or over to Egypt. Restaurant & Bar top floor good views, breakfast perfect for price point, hire car companies downstairs next door (Thrifty/Dollar Plus)and across road (Hertz). Easy to find if driving into Aqaba. Rooms are clean and new, even mini bar! For price hard to beat. Reception staff even tried to assist with the Ferry booking sending bus boy up to the ride to try and buy ticket though had to do in person. Ferry to Egypt nobody really knows what time the fast ferry leaves as they are dictated to by the large tour groups! Yes you heard it here first, normally they go at 1pm though if a large tour group is running late they will hold the Ferry up hence call on the day, they don't tell you this, though when over 120 people turn up on tour buses at 17.50 with the ferry leaving at 18.00 it's easy to work out who runs the show!
