The way the room was on the site was not what we got. No kitchen although I booked with kitchen on the site. To be honest, I have been in Ghania before and was also inside the old town in a better room for the same price. Is a few years ago, so I didn’t have the number anymore. Maintenance in this building was poor. So I won’t reccomand this hotel to people who ask me about it. There are better places to stay in Ghania. One night was enough

Affordable spot right in the heart of the cute harbor area. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby.

We had a bad experience when we arrived. Our flight got delayed for more than 4 hours and we were trying to get the phone number of the hostel to inform but we didn't receive it in our booking.
So we arrived almost 12am to the hostel and the guy at the reception received us in a very bad attitude, blaming us because we didn't call without asking us reasons, he said it is in our booking with Expedia but we were trying to tell him we booked through Hotels.com .
We would still pay for the room even if we didn't arrive, but he treated us so badly that I had to tell him to calm down.

The little cozy hotel is clean and tidy and has lots of potential to develop.
The gentleman who takes care of it is of great help: we arrived at any time we liked , he kept out staff on the last day and was very agreeable at all telephone communication.
We felt at ease.

To stay at Kidonia property was a nightmare. Very rude unwelcome owner and totally luck of care for the guest. In that property there is no formality check in with documents, I could be anybody. I was really surprised when I sow the reception and then the room, this property should be banned from hotel.com and others web site and closed from the authority. Seriously danger, unhygienic, dirty, smelly place. No toiletry and when I asked for it he just gave me a used soap. We had to make the bed ourself, the onwer took from the wardrobe 2 blanket with disgusting smell. When I asked a broom to clean myself the room he gave me a dirty one full of builder dust and hairs. When I asked the hair drier he refused to gave me, saying it was to late and I was going to make noise for other guest.
The toilette was dirty smelly, the shower curtain was full of mould everywhere and we could use it, so water all on the floor.
During the day we went back to the room to leave some shopping but we found builders on the stairs with the onwer, for them was normal paying guest, who at some point the builders told as “its only dust...”
Hotel.com should seriously consider to remove Kidonia room from the website as I always thought the high standard I found in hotel.com.

Hostile owner and unclean room. Avoid it, we left early.

A very dated and tired set of rooms. Typical back packer domain - cheap and cheerful when all you want is for somewhere to sleep when not out and about enjoying the sights of the splendid Old town. Some basic cooking facilities were provided and there was a compact shower room and toilet. All in all not a bad stay, if like us, clean sheets, a comfortable bed and no uninvited guests are what matter most.

Perfect location in Old Town Chania right by the harbour. Very nice owner. Cash only. Room wasn't that clean, but fine for the price. Would stay there again.

I booked a room for a one-night stay at Kydonia at about midnight--when we decided to make the trip to Chania in the morning--for later on that day. We received Expedia's confirmation email, indicating that our reservation was confirmed and that there was no need to follow-up. Despite that email, I did try to call the Kydonia # that Expedia listed, but the call went to a fax machine. Once we got to Kydonia, we were told by a very unfriendly man at reception that there weren't any rooms. He refused to look at my email confirmation and left in a rush telling us to wait in the sweltering reception area. During the 15-minutes we waited, we called a nearby hotel to check if they had a room and the owner came within minutes to offer us her one available room. Unfriendly guy at Kydonia did finally return saying he'd take us "to a friend's place" for ten more Euro that my original reservation! Not once did he apologize for Kydonia's mistake, so needless to say, we didn't do business with this guy.

Great off-season rate, right in the old city, close to Venetian Port. Ask for loft rooms, with super high ceiling and balcony facing street. Owner speaks great English, and is helpful. Standard free WiFi, good towels, and useable mini kitchenette.

Ask for the loft room(s?) with balcony facing the street. A bit louder but worth it! Really funky nice place super close to Venetian Port. Nice owner who lives there, and speaks good English

This is a "tired" hotel right down in Old Chania. We stayed one night in the large room for four with the kitchenette and 2 nights in the smaller double room. The kitchenette is not fully equipped. It did have a refrigerator, couple of burners, sink, a few dishes and cookware. The smaller double room only had a refrigerator, no kitchenette as advertised. The towels were threadbare and were supplied only once. No daily maid service. Shower sprays water all over the bathroom floor. The beds are hard with only loose sheets. The manager is on site 24/7, watches comings and goings, and is helpful but businesslike. I had to pay cash for my room. No safe in room, but a key for the door. Neighborhood is noisy from tourists, but I slept well due to being exhausted from traveling. It has old world charm and could be fixed up to be so much nicer. Felt safe, walked everywhere.

We booked Kydonia because of the cheap price as we are backpacking, and as with most greek accommodations in March they were doing renos so the place was a bit of a mess. Our room however was all ready and a decent size, with private bathroom. The owner spoke english fairly well and was friebdly enough. There was a small tv with cable-we could watch english speaking shows, they usually play them later in the evening. Mini fridge worked and the bathroom was acceptable for a budget place. The double bed was tilted from the top right corner slanting down towards the bottom left, made for interesting sleeping positions but overall it was a decent place for a cheap price. The location is spectacular, 10seconds from the venetian harbour and on a main touristy street, plus there is a starbucks right next/below (the rooms are second floor). There are 2 small sets of stairs and one is narrow and steep so not recommended for those with accessibility issues, but if the price is decent and location is important go for it.

Two flights of stairs to get to reception. Can walk to harbor, shops, restaurants, and bus to Samaria Gorge hike. Stockholm shower gets floor wet. Good wi-fi. Noisy early in the evening but quiets down after midnight. Hot water runs out early in the morning. Good value.

Down the street from bus station, no need to get a cab in walking distance. Great view, prime location in the middle of the shopping square. Felt safe, the owner was always there and looked out for us two traveling girls. The beds were a bit hard but we didn't go there to sleep all day and hang out in a room! Perfect for a one night stay.
