I booked two rooms. We were welcomed with local snacks and juice, which was a welcome surprise (particularly for the kids) and went to our rooms to drop the bags and rest before our tour. I noticed a few tiny bugs on the tables, but nothing on the bed. We went on our tour and came back. My kids (5 and 6) noticed bugs on the table and nightstand. I delved further, and found them on my suitcase on the floor, and over everything, but the bed! I had no food in my suitcase, and only a bag of chips on the table. The bugs were ON the bag, but not in it. Hotel Amber reluctantly agreed to book me at an affiliated hotel at 50% off, for my additional cost. Long and short of it, my room was covered in bugs. My 2nd room had no problem. They wanted to rebook me elsewhere for my own cost and separate my group. They wanted me to wait (beyond initial hour or so of argument) for an unknown time for a manager, to discuss a refund. It was already 8pm. I refused too wait any longer, and found my own [new] hotel. And there is no elevator and steep stairs, but they do bring up your bags...

We arrived and the staff were very friendly and we were in a rush for a transfer the next morning and they accommodated for us by getting our breakfast quickly. However, the room was extremely run down and we were put in the top room of the hotel, meaning that we walked up tons of stairs, we are young and fit but this was even tiring for us. Our room was very run down and dirty with hardly any light. The beds were rock hard. Then we woke up in the morning to the awful sounds of someone in the property next door wretching/being sick. It was very graphic and unpleasant. We were only staying for one night and it was fine and cheap for that, but wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer than that.

Warning: there is loud building works going on. Friendly staff, average hotel. Paid for superior room to have a window - was internal so no light. Bathroom tired. Worst was that they booked us a bus journey to Nihn Binh and turned out it was a group tour that we had to wait around for all day.

We booked and paid to stay at Camel City in June for our visit in September (so three months in advance). We booked 3 nights, and then another single night as we were doing a tour of Ha Long Bay in between. When we arrived to check-in, we were told that our room was no longer available and we had been moved to another hotel. Camel City made no attempt to inform us of this beforehand, nor offered any compensation. The same happened again when we tried to check-in for the second time for our single night stay. Apparently, they had given our room to guests who had decided they wanted to stay longer, i.e. guests who only booked the room on the day, even though wed booked and paid for the room several months in advance!

Its a good hotel for the price. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was great as well. However, the room was very dim and there were no windows. It was generally clean, but it didnt exactly feel great to see very small insects crawling around every now and then. As long as you dont plan to stay in the hotel for most of your stay in Hanoi, its a great place to be.

Customer Service was 5 star. I had a lot of luggage and the staff made sure I didnt lift a finger when bringing it up to my room or when I checked out. There was always someone at reception with a smile and available to answer any questions. Overall, my stay was great and I would definitely stay again.

We booked this hotel based on all the good reviews, but even though we had made a fully paid online reservation, when we arrived at the hotel, they told us our room was broken and shoved us to their sister hotel Dong A, which got horrible reviews and was utterly disgusting. We had to wander on the streets late at night to find another hotel.

We had a wonderful stay here and all the staff were very gelpful and friendly. Ann the receptionist organised two tours for us one to Tam coc and the other to Ha long bay and both exceeded our expectations. Great value for money!

This hotel is down a lane but walking distance to really great restaurants and shops. Its very convenient. It was good value for money. The best location we stayed at, not necessarily the best hotel. Breakfast was ordinary, very limited menu. The staff were helpful, as at most hotels. Good place to stay, on a budget, we were a family of 6 and stayed in 3 rooms. All the bathrooms were ordinary, very tight spaces, to move in. All the bedrooms were spacious but quite noisy, as we faced the street.

The rooms are kept nice & clean, the beds are nice & comfortable & the bed linen is very clean. Breakfast is nicely cooked & you also get fresh fruit with a variety of juices & plenty of tea& coffee. .All of my ongoing trip was done for me by the hotel staff. The staff at the Camel City hotel are very helpful, polite & happy. Especially Hang & Hoa, i cant thank them enough.

Wife and I arrived and they told us the room had ac broken and they were going to move us to another hotel. We told them no this is what we booked and paid for in advance. It took a couple minutes until the manager arrived and he explained they were going to upgrade us to a deluxe as he said we had a standard room, which wasnt true we booked and paid for a deluxe suite. So be careful if they try to get you moved to their friends hotel.Aside from that nightlife and location is i. The heart of everything. Staff carried out bags up the five flights of stairs. Breakfast was ok. Not sure if I would stay again.

this hotel is an ok budget hotel in a good area. The service, however, is horrible. The hotel overbooked, didnt have our room available, made us switch rooms pretending it was an upgrade, and then forced us to switch back into a standard room for the remaining days (even though the other room sat empty). We heard them doing the same thing to another couple our last day there (maybe they lie about the other rooms being full so that you will pay more to stay in the upgraded room instead of switching). It just ended up being a huge hassle and there are a million other hotels in the area- stay elsewhere!
