I had a terrible experience in the rooftop pool restaurant. First, there was no staff at that pool bar. I had to go down to the restaurant on the ground floor so they could send staff up. I ordered a hamburger. After a long wait with a luke warm beer, I got my hamburger and cut the first bite. It was raw and cold inside. The staff had disappeared. I had to take my plate and take the elevator down to the lower floor and the restaurant there. I spoke to the butler who apologized and promised to come up with a new one. Back to the roof. A new hamburger arrived after 20 min. Cut up a piece. Same thing again. Completely raw and cold inside. I manage to call the waiter before he had disappeared and announce that this was unbelievable. Same thing again. Raw hamburger. He apologizes and announces that he will immediately get a new one. I'm waiting.... The waiter now came back with? .... the same hamburger I just cut a piece off. Now reheated. And with the same fries that have been going up and down the hotel for about 1 hour.... Not crispy directly! I go straight down and complain and get apologies from the manager with a promise to get the money back for the burger (not the beer). And receive a gift in the form of the hotel's own Cava as a goodwill gift. Unfortunately, the ice bucket is not sealed, so the shelf where the bucket stood is soaked and has soaked everything that was on the shelf: books, clothes etc. It didn't really work as a goodwill gift!

Too expensive for what it is! You could stay at the W with massive rooms and many amenities for less than here. The bar downstairs isn’t really open ever. The front desk staff was amazing. But beyond the front desk and bell hop they were not so friendly. In the gym we started to workout and the staff came to vacuum as we worked out, very odd. The rooms were not at all like pictured on the site. It’s a decent modern hotel but I’d say 7-7.5. Was very disappointed in the $1ks euros for two nights and the staff barely acknowledged us for drinks or food orders.

Location- supreme. Rooms- clean, modern and comfortable. Service- amazing, with top-notch attractions and restaurants suggestions (Kevin at the front desk was extremely accommodating and kind!). Pool and gym- at the roof top with cool view. The entire brand Olivia Hotels provides you with a 5-star like experience! Note: we had to stop with a special request at the Plaza Catalonia location and the staff didnt disappoint us either- excellent service.

My wife and I had a lovely stay at this hotel. All the staff were really friendly, attentive and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh over the 3 nights that we stayed and the location was super convenient for getting around Barcelona with the main city hub just a short walk from the hotel. Would highly recommend.

There were a lot of positives. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel reception was inviting. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel is in an excellent location from which to explore Barcelona city. We felt safe. Metro is also 9 min walk away. The free welcome drink became a goodbye drink for us. I enjoyed a mint tea and my family had Coca Cola. There is the option of Cava as well or juice. There are a lot of good dining options within walking distance from 5 mins to 15 mins depending on what you want to eat. There is not an iron/ironing board in the room, but staff brought one within a couple of minutes of requesting them. So, this was not a problem for us. The only upgrade needed in my opinion is access to streaming sites. However, we were out so much of the day and as is the custom in Barcelona, we were having dinner very late. We did not miss watching e.g. Netflix. It was a great stay and would recommend Olivia Balmes Hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona.

Staff were extremely attentive,helpful,polite,and were prepared to "Go the extra mile" to ensure an enjoyable stay. Our first experience of the "Rooftop Pool/Bar" was discouraging with empty glasses/plates/food leftovers not being removed and when the bar closed it had a untidy look with towels etc left all over. It did improve. Apologies for forgetting his name, the Italian member of staff who was on from day two whom we met frequently during our stay was fantastic, polite,engaging,efficient and very helpful (GSOH). The hotel is ideally placed for a stay in Barcelona, bright,clean and welcoming. Staff gave us dining suggestions for restaurants, none of which disappointed. The location, staff and standard of the hotel means I would have no hesitation in going back or recommending it highly. *****

A Delightful Boutique Experience Staying at Hotel Balmes in Barcelona was a refreshing and wonderful experience, especially after my time in Madrid. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Godson setting the tone for a fantastic stay. Joseph Antoni at the front desk was incredibly sweet and helpful, even taking the time to ensure that all the amenities in my room were in perfect order—a thoughtful touch that truly stood out. The positive experience continued at the restaurant, where Cesar and the manager of the restaurant provided excellent service. Each morning, I was greeted by concierge with a cheerful smile, which truly brightened my day. The staff at the restaurant were consistently attentive, ensuring that every need was met. I highly recommend purchasing the breakfast buffet. The spread of food was not only high-quality but also absolutely delicious. Gonzalo, in particular, was such a caring and attentive his exceptional service really stood out always serving us with a smile and ensuring we had everything we needed. EXCELLENT! Overall, Hotel Balmes exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff’s dedication to making guests feel welcome and cared for truly sets this boutique hotel apart. I will definitely be returning on my next visit to Barcelona. Tina and family!

I stayed in Barcelona many times but first time in Olivia Balmes hotel. Wow what a lovely team at Olivia. Customer service was impaceblr. Always a smile on the face for every person and helping out any way they can. We were really impressed. The hotel has lovely rooms huge in size with all that you need. It has care package with your basic necessities, bottle of water, welcome cava and coffee\tea in the rooms. Location is just amazing, close to shopping and restaurants. I recommend it highly.

Amazing hotel! Great location close to a bunch of restaurants. The service was fantastic. Everyone was helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay excellent. The pool was great for our 5 year old daughter. The triple room was spacious and had a huge tub. The breakfast had a large variety of options - everything was very tasty! We'll definitely stay here again.

I had high hopes for my stay, but unfortunately, the hotel fell short in several key areas. The food was disappointing and lacked quality, making dining an unpleasant experience. The pool area was constantly overcrowded, and to make matters worse, the recliners were uncomfortable, with no towels or cushions provided. The room was another major letdown. The size was far too small, and the layout was poorly designed. It felt like I had the bathroom in my face while sleeping, which significantly impacted my comfort. Overall, the hotel needs to seriously address these issues to meet the expectations of its guests.

I am extremely happy with our stay in Olivia Balmes. As our first time in Barcelona and Spain the staff was extremely attentive and welcomed us so warmly. I would like to especially praise and applaud Joseph Vera he was the front desk person who made us feel so welcomed and made sure our stay was a home away from Home. His professional and empathetic demeanor made our long and tiring trip less stressful as he welcomed us to the hotel. The hotel was perfect! Clean, near everything, perfect location, great staff. It’s a very adorable hotel with a nice rooftop pool and the restaurants, bakery, cafe and grocery stores around was great and affordable and yummy too! It is literally 2 blocks from Passeig de Gracia and from the rooftop you can see a portion of La Sagrada and La pedrera. We would definitely comeback to this hotel next time we go back to Barcelona! Thank you!
