This is a 2 stars property with lack of maintenace on its facilities. Good location in Montevideo but below average experience.

Good hotel, very simple and practical.
I felt very comfortable there.
The man at the reception called Andres, very friendly and he helped me with restaurant reservations.

Arriving at the unity we had no towels. When asking for it, the front desk mentioned that it is supposed to arrive during the night. I had to ask for it multiple times. Clean room and good location.

The hotel staff were very attentive and helpful.
I have stayed there in the past and the hotel was very well kept. Now unfortunately is not, very rundown. Not worth the price.
The area is safe and close to the coast. Unfortunately the street was close for repairs during our stay, for that reason was dusty, noisy and when it rained was very muddy. We were disappointed. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

The area in which is located is great. The issue is that they don´t have breakfast or any other meal service available at the property.

Sometimes we would get bad odour (rotten eggs) from the pipes especially from the bathroom. Overall it was a good hotel for the price. Rooms have a lot of space.

The hotel advertises airport transfers, one of the main reasons we choose this place. I communicated many times with the hotel, ensuring the transportation was in place. Our flight arrived and no one was there. I got someone from the airport to call... they said they had no record of our communication. I showed the email and the hotel said that hotel worker (who used the hotel’s email) never told anyone else. Needless to say, we waited at the airport for an hour, fifteen minutes for someone to come. They, unabashedly still charged us the $50 fee. The hotel itself was OK. Seems like it might have been nice 10-20 years ago. If you do find yourself desperate enough to come here, take an Uber from the airport departures. It is 1/3 of the price and none of the waiting.

All was well. Given its relatively new feel, it could have used a little more upkeep (for example, the darkening curtain wasn't completely attached).

In need of maintanance. Holes in the walls, curtains broken.

We were offered a king size bed at check in. When we got to the room, the bed was queen size. We told the receptionist it was not a king size as offered, he said all the rooms only have queen beds ???? The table was so unstable that it was difficult and annoying to use it so we asked the receptionist to get it replaced or repaired. He said maintenance was not available ( it was 1 pm ) and there was not any other table available to replace it. The towels were really old and greyish. The bed, pillows and sheets were ok. The mini fridge worked properly and the TV worked properly as well. WIFI was fast and reliable. Breakfast was very good. The receptionist let us check out 1 hour later, at 12 instead of 11 am.

It was the Easter weekend and the hotel was full. The hotel was fine with a good breakfast although the shower was a little intermittent in temperature. However the internet is a real issue. My friend runs her own business and good internet is essential. The hotel when full does not have adequate internet and the staff admitted this was an issue as they couldn't deny it. This is a fundamental issue that the hotel needs to address. Cost cutting at construction stage I suspect.

Good neighbourhood. Near some great Parillas. They also organise bike rental which is a great day to spend a day cycling round the huge promenade. Great breakfast too and the lady serving was absolutely lovely and very helpful.

A great hotel, only 3 blocks from La Rambla, and close to Punta Carretas shopping. Great resto-bars close by. The breakfast, including eggs, was great, and the room was a full studio apartment, with a microwave (no stove). There were also Kosher options for the buffet.
The front desk staff spoke only Spanish, which I would expect. But when I tried to speak to them, I couldn't get them to speak slower or try to accommodate a foreigner. It was hard for me to understand their accents. A very slight negative to a great place.

This is a very simple hotel. It was clean and nothing specific that was terrible, but it's not a Luxury hotel and there are better values.
Couple examples, no plug converters and US plugs won't work (only hotel with this issue in Uruguay and Argentina), the desk told me where a store was I could buy on. No irons or ironing board. They use two flat sheets to make the bed, which clearly doesn't stay made.
Again it's clean and acceptable but there are better values.

The hotel is not big, but well kept. It has a good location, three blocks from the Rambla and about 7 blocks from Punta Carretas. The room was very nice. The breakfast was quite good, especially for Uruguayan standards of breakfast. It had wi-fi, but was a bit sporadic at times.

I stayed at this hotel for a week on a business trip. EVERYTHING was excellent from the room to the services. The hotel's location is really great also. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good boutique hotel in Montevideo

- This hotel is named 'Gema Luxury' but there was no luxury
- Staff is friendly, up until you ask something of them. The sink was clogged and the window shade didnt close all the way. Those two items were reported but were never fixed. I was told, 'we'll be sure and fix that'. Never happened
- Hotel does have some nice restaurants near by
- The bed was not that comfortable and was really small for a twin
