I always make sure all taxes and fees included when I book on this site, but then when I got to this particular seedy motel, no one was there and had to call a number and wait 10 or so minutes, no biggy. But checking in I'm blindsided they're trying to charge me $35 a night resort fee. I argued and argued and brought up the new California law and showed my emailed and proved it I had all taxes and fees included, then had them promise me they weren't going to charge because they needed a credit card on file for incidentals. And they promised then after I checked out, they charged me those resort fees anyways. This hotel is also a weekly, people living there type vibe, bbq'ing out front, and working on cars. The toilet in my room had a strong sewer smell. Bed very uncomfortable and I sank in holes, like way too old or too soft. No cable channels as I was looking forward watching football. Loud doors. Two blocks away from the ocean. I would not stay here again, especially after this ordeal.

It was a decent spot but it has been run down. Not bad if you’re just getting some rest and a shower. Beds were okay. Linens were clean. Also was not beach front as shown in photos.

This is a nice motel. The staff is friendly and the location is great. The room we stayed in needed updating, but I noticed other ground fllor rooms were already updated. I woul suggest paying for a nicer room. We had a good stay and will return.

This hotel is very old and very dirty. The help are friendly but dealing with lots of complaints and responded in befuddled, unhelpful ways. There is an agreement clause that needs to be signed upon check-in that has a disclaimer about bedbugs. Yuck!!

Our stay at the Shores Inn Motel & Beach Houses was a disappointment. The pictures online are very deceiving. They show only the beach house photos, and nothing of the actual Shores Inn Motel. Their website did not allow for selection of the beach houses. The staff did everything they could to accommodate with what they had to work with. Our first room was extremely humid. The ceiling in the bathroom had started to bubble from what I presume to be a leak from the unit above. It was impossible to take a shower because the bathtub didn’t drain and the toilet flushing filled up the bathtub. Water also leaked out at the base of the toilet from the back. We tried to switch rooms, but the new room had an unpleasant odor. We tried to suck it up, but then the whole curtain rod collapsed with the curtains when we tried to close them. The staff on site tried to do everything they could to accommodate by bringing another curtain rod, but they were not provided with adequate supplies and the only thing they were able to bring was a fragile, improperly secured unit that was missing parts. At this point we had decided not to stay our remaining night here, and we just drove home.

A bit run down. There is no AC and to get fresh air into the room you have to have the windows open which look directly out to where everyone is walking and anyone can see in. They provide fans but we had to go buy another more powerful one to really get some airflow. The water pressure was substandard. However, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the location was really why we stayed there. We really liked that the had a mini fridge

Our room had a king bed which was thankfully comfortable. The only plus. A kitchenette that had full fridge microwave broken drawers and a cupboard with a small coffee brewer no cups. The window coverings had holes there was no smoke detector it was ripped down. A lamp was on a portable heater and dangling cords from lamp and tv, no closet or dresser not one drawer. Bath had no towel bars or TP holder and smelled like sewer. It definitely wasn’t worth what they charge. And the website has pics of beach front rooms THEY ARE NOT BEACH FRONT. The front desk gal was very friendly the only reason we really stayed

Don't come!!! I'm arrive at property at 12 AM and nobody is there to give me the key to get into the room so we had to go to another hotel to spend the night and then the next morning I got a video on a text telling me what the key is The next morning and then when I get in the room is Stinky and no AC and Dirty And I was trying to talk with somebody and nobody Answer the phone so I decide to leave that terrible hotel and when I leave Jenifer, call me All MAD Because I leave And she Said To Me she had all My Information To Expose My Self So Im Going To Sue The Property They Keep All Money and We Don't Sleep One single Night There This Place is HORRIBLE and Costumer service Is The Worst I was Travel to Have A Good Time From Texas They Ruin my Vacay

The listing shows beach access, it was about a 5 minute walk to the beach, there was no air conditioning in the rooms, and the room was not kept up, there was duct tape holding the carpet together and the paneling on the bath tub was falling off

The location is desirable but parking is very limited. People and vehicles moving around were very noisy. The room was clean but run-down and showed lots of wear. Jacuzzi tub didn't work.

The shower head fell off in my hand, the furniture was decrepit, the bed & pillows were very old. The wooden blinds would not stay open and the window ledge looked like it had been chewed by a dog. 1 star for the new TV.

The room had one good thing…a new TV & the desk people were friendly, but the motel was the worst ever.

Do NOT stay here. Very dirty, found trash left by previous occupant of the room meaning it was not cleaned properly. Old furniture, musty smell, no A/C. Then the toilet did not work and when we asked for a refund, they dragged their feet on it. Told us they would refund it before they left, but refused to answer my or hotels.com’s calls. Hotels.com never gave me a refund and I had to report the transaction to my bank to actually get the money back. Will not be using this hotel or hotels.com service any longer due to this whole ordeal which was my birthday trip, nearly ruining it.

The location is fantastic. I was in room 100, which has a jacuzzi tub. The tub was ok. The bolt on the door is blocked from locking. I literally have a chair stuffed under the door handle. There are no knobs on the drawers, screw sticking out of a cabinet door as a “handle”, no washcloths, etc. It’s not fancy, which is fine, but it’s also not maintained at all. It is a less expensive place and it feels like it.

Staff friendly and helpful. Older hotel - had a little patina on it, but room was clean and comfortable. Fridge & microwave. Busy area in the evening, but quiet overnight. Can walk to beach with a few restaurants very close by. I was very comfortable there. Would stay again.

Bottom line, I wouldn’t put someone’s dog in this place. The amenities were way over stated. No jetted tubs, the motel was not directly on the beach as portrayed, rooms were in disrepair, no air conditioners, the shower did not work, and the rooms were dirty. Very disappointed. We were supposed to be there two nights and we left after one night. Better to cut your losses than risk getting bed bugs. TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!!

Outdated. Stayed in #100 and heard ice machine past midnight. Shower located in corner of room w shower head emerging from ceiling (no shower curtain) See pic of view from corner of shower/jacuzzi tub. Only 5* was service of our checkin person. Sweet lady who was watchful of all of property.

The property itself is run down but quiet and comfortable if you don’t mind the general state of disrepair. The problem is that the owner seems content with the fact that nothing works. When we checked in, we were informed there was a problem with one of our two rooms - the electronic key card wasn’t working. Their solution? Call the son of the woman working the front desk to BREAK IN THROUGH THE BACK WINDOW. So this poor man shows up with a ladder and proceeds to… break into the wrong room. So then the poor couple in the room next to us is startled to have a man climbing through their bathroom window. Eventually, he gets into our room and unlocks it from the inside. However, then we STILL don’t have a key to the room. The front desk lady suggests we just leave the door propped open when we leave because “it’s a super safe neighborhood.” Bear in mind this is the same person who just asked her son to break in through the back. At no point did anyone think to offer us even a partial refund. To the extend they acknowledged anything was even problematic about the situation, they blamed everything on the owner, who apparently couldn’t be bothered. At one point, the front desk staff told me she might just walk off the job, and I wouldn’t blame her. I do believe the staff did the best they could, but this place isn’t equipped to provide basic standards of service. You should be able to provide a key with a door that locks, or make up to guests for the inconvenience.

We came over for M2B marathon race. I understand it's a motel, and overpricing during the event. But, it's so dirty, ant in the room, noise during the night. If anyone looking for a place to stay, this is your last choice.

Toilet only has one bolt. Spa does not work. Tub has no stopper. No downstairs rooms at 3:00 PM check in. Both my wife and I are disabled. The lady did help carry our bags up stairs.

Great economic choice right off 101. Awesome location to be able walk to Von’s, Starbucks and even down to the beach. We were greeted quickly with a hello and a smile by the young man who checked us in, he was friendly and very helpful. The Inn is very adorable, the room is average size. The room did show some signs of extra wear, our room even had the door molding damaged by what appeared to be a large dog. There were few a holes in the walls, and room really needs some love and TLC. Still a great place to stay especially for the price, a few dollars spent in the room would go a long way.
