Amazing stay in a an endlessly interesting property. People all over the city told me this was the best hotel in Tangier. Was closed for a long time, glad it is renovated and back open. Will be staying again!

We loved our stay here. The property is beautiful and the people are very nice. Breakfast was delicious as well! We especially loved the piano guy, the bell hop and the servers at breakfast. Phenomenal and would highly recommend!

Very good located in the center! Nice personnel. All are very friendly. Good rooms. Traditional hotel!

Lovely olde world hotel, located near the grand socco, easy to walk everywhere, also able to use facilities at sister hotel La Minza, large dated rooms.
The negatives would mainly be the breakfast, for a so called 5 star hotel, I have never seen anything so poor, a few greasy dishes and items constantly empty....also when we asked for a second cup of tea as we were given one pot between 3 people, we were told only the first cup is free....what a joke, seriously disappointed, no Moroccan standard offerings like baghrir, harcha or Moroccan biscuits, had much much better in cheaper hotels and riads.
I would recommend for the location but don't expect 5 star standards!

The hotel customer service was very sporadic! Usually you would order a round of drinks and something would be forgotten. This Happened at breakfast also where you would sometimes have to order an item twice before it arrived. In all likelihood this is down to a lack of staff training and inadequate management. The hotel also looked a little tired! The food was great though!

This is a very special hotel. I had a wonderful stay

Star rating is questionable and breakfast is very poor. Service is as expected in Morocco but the cost of the stay makes it unacceptable.

Excellent hotel in the middle of the city. Beautiful. Terrace with a sea view. Everyone is polite and helpful.
The breakfast was delicious. Plenty of choices. I would highly recommend. We were lucky to book this place. We initially booked for a night but extended our stay for another one when we realised how nice it is.

Great location. A short walk just about anywhere - to the Grand Socco, shops, eateries, coffee etc. Beautiful large clean pool. Good housekeeping. Nice buffet breakfasts with good choice of fresh fruit, hot foods, pastries, bread, coffee.

The Heating system and our toilet were broken during our stay. When checking in at first, I had paid for a a suite through Orbitz but the lady at the check-in tried to give us a small room which is not what I prepaid for. The rooms were very outdated and had a strong smell to them. There were only large towels in our room and when requested for smaller towels, none were brought. Same can be said about an iron. It was non existent and we kept being told they would bring us one which never happened. The hotel needs some serious updates before I would ever stay there again.

I’ve been around, but never to a place like this. This hotel is unique, so different from the tourist industry. There is no better way to stay in Tanger. Start your day with breakfast in the beautiful patio… walk through the corridors with colored glass windows and art. The stay is an experience in itself.
This is A true gem with a magical atmosphere, lovely staff that will make you feel at home and beautiful preserved grandeur.

What a lovely spot to land after traveling from the US. Perfect location to explore the area. Our room was spacious and beautiful. There’s an air of elegance, which I appreciated

Wonderful service from start to finish. Tangiers is hilly so it's nice that a taxi can take you right to the door, where staff immediately greet you and take your luggage. Staff throughout the hotel are lovey, gracious, helpful and always smiling. The rooms are large and comfortable with great views of the harbour. Had their wonderful steak every evening and also drinks at the piano bar. Really lovely hotel, like walking back in time. Reminds me of the Pera Palace in Istanbul. All in all, a perfect stay in the mot beautiful surroundings with impeccable service. I would not hesitate to stay again. The only downside was runny eggs in the morning breakfast which is included (but ask them to make you an omelette - it's much better)

A nice old fashioned hotel like the ones in Monaco. Classy! Nice staff. Have been there before and will come again!

Friendliness and service of the staff were amazing!
The hotel is old and should invest in renovation, but due to the kindness of each employee, our stay was memorable!

A classic hotel. Large, well appointed rooms, marble bathroom. Tremendous views of the city and Gibraltar Straight. Excellent staff, very friendly. Somewhat limited English but not at all a problem. Will definitely return on my next visitvto Tangier.

A beautiful old hotel right off 9 April Square and a 5 minute walk to the Medina and Kasbah. Charming hotel where Matisse once painted. As we stayed during Ramadan, things were closed and low key. But it’s a lovely view and very comfortable!

Only issue was the showers tend to get water on the bathroom floor no matter how hard you try not to! Rest was 5-star. It’s not modern by any means, but that just adds to the charm. A classic spot in a great location.

the very definition of a luxury hotel

Very friendly staff, good location, nice rooms. We were upgraded to a sea view room which was nice. Nice restaurant serving excellent food even at 11pm.
Small room size, no robe or slippers. Tea bags were just thrown and no milk sachets. Definitely not a five star hotel. May be 4 star if the rating is generous.
But we had a very pleasant stay, thanks to all staff

I have stayed at this hotel more than 5 times over the last few years. It is a decent hotel centrally located just right outside the old town. This is pretty much home to me whenever I’m back in Tangier. There is a lot of history to the hotel. The terrace area is beautiful. Staff are friendly and welcoming for the most part (not all as some just clearly wanted you to tip them for doing their very basic job or sometimes even less!). Professional 5-star hospitality service is far off. Maybe 4 stars max. Clearly it’s about time to give the hotel a good new life.

Great vintage colonial hotel in a quite setting over looking Europe. Great service and very Professional and friendly staff
3.0 / 5.0
This place is not a five star hotel. It is very outdated and at best a 3 star in the US. The grounds, however is very pretty. There is a great view from the terrace and the front of the hotel is nice, but the lobby is not nice and the rooms are not either. When we first checked in very late, it looked like they didn’t clean our tub well. We told them the next day and they cleaned it much better. They have a free breakfast, but when we went, only a few pieces of cookies were out and it didn’t look like they refilled it often. Convenient location next to the Medina at least so you can walk around easily.

The hotel , its location and staff are very good . The only problem we had was : the bathtub drain was not working and though we asked the staff to fix it nothing was done.

Enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hotel. Fantastic view from the hill overlooking the sea and the medina, but also very easily walkable distance from the main sights.
They kindly showed me the room where Matisse painted two pictures - they've left it unchanged since his stay.
Breakfast buffet was ok but dubious coffee.
Would recommend for the setting and the great value.
