Nice and helpful staff. Location near subway, which can approach JFK airport linking by Airtrain. So I can reach the airport around 45mins. Really cool!!! But there are not many restaurants around.

Great place to stay when you will spend most of your time out in the town. Clean areas and chilled environment.

This place is cool and clean. Traveling solo but would be ideal for a group of friends, too. The staff were welcoming and chill. Got a coffee at the bar this morning and sipped it on the rooftop, gorgeous view! Arrived late to check in (midnight) but this was fine - I was welcomed in, no problem. Bed was comfortable (upper bunk), shower was strong and hot. There was a show happening sometime in the night - loud music from a nearby place- but to be expected on a weekend in the city.

Great vibe, lovely and very helpful staff - overall great stay!

Pro: Very clean and a great set up. Safe. Staff is excellent.
Con: With on site bar, loud noise long into night. Rooms are hot, although the AC was not turned on because of others in the rooms preference.

The staff is amazing. The view from the roof is incredible. Laundry on site is $4 for a small load of clothes to wash and dry.

It was a super comfortable stay for a short stopover in New York City. Super close to a lot of the best attractions and restaurants at an excellent price! I’ll definitely go back we

I would have never booked this had I known there would be a rooftop concert on the roof of the hostel building late into the night. I’m in my 60s and couldn’t sleep at all, and had a long road trip the next morning.

Location is wonderful and the view from the roof is amazing. After looking at what I spent per night, I am unsure if I think its "affordable" for just one bed, but perhaps thats just part of Brooklyn accommodation. I loved the common spaces, cafe and beer bar, and access to laundry was an added bonus.

Property is good for young travelers who can share a variety of activities. Requesting towels takes time to be provided as it depends on availability. Fridges are small showing traveler’s food packed in disorganized view. I could not put any food in due to lack of space. In general, it was a calm stay.

For the price it was very good, and if you get roomies they’re usually quiet and keep to themselves

It’s ok. The staff was nice and went out of his way to help me. I forgot his name but he was extremely helpful! Thank you! But the lady who checked me in did not look like she wants to be there. Although it was 2am so I guess thats understandable. The AC was weird because it was in and out. But for a budget hostel it was good and they have a free welcome drink.

I like the bar inside the building with a nice sitting area and the projector.

I’ve come here twice now and it’s been a good experience both times. I would highly recommend this place.

Other than hot water not available most of the time all fine.

The rooms were good they were clean and a place to lay ur head. The thing that made me want to continue to come back is their lobby, roof top, and bar it made it so easy to be down stairs or on the roof tops and out of the rooms. This place and the atmosphere were great and i will definitely be back.

i really enjoyed my stance in there

Too much ambient noise. Music constantly plays in lobby area and on roof. Housekeeping crew is very good.

Funky chi hostel close to the metro. Loved the industrial open plan spacious feel and the bar was a bonus needed after a long day of international travel. Unfortunately the check in system was down so took half an hour to check in, which was frustrating as I was tired. The staff were very apologetic. Loved the roof top city manhattan skyline view. Unfortunately noise from such came through the AC window unit so had a hard time getting to sleep. Loved that it was an easy walk or jog to the ferry to Roosevelt Island - great for a 4 mile run and very scenic. A must do!

Housekeeping crew is top notch. After a mass checkout of young backpackers, they ladies and gentlemen got the corridors and common areas sparkling.

Hot water for shower has been excellent except for the past two days.

It is mostly a mellow environment, but some events take place in the bar by the entrance or on the roof.

Clean, had our own shower/toilet, right next to the subway station, fairly safe area, girls in my room were nice, complimentary drinks

The Hostel is a decent place but unfortunately the customer service was terrible, they gave my bed to someone else after I had already checked in and the lady at front was so rude and unprofessional.

Extended stay while looking for permanent housing. It's better for shorter stays. But still better than most.

The Local is the best hostel I’ve been anywhere in the world. What they are doing feels like, in no small way actually, a push back against the divisive, greedy way the world is going. What a beautiful community, sharing a beautiful space. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. Strong hot water that’s good to drink. Can’t wait to return!

There was a loud noice from a machine which was unbearable without noice canceling headphones - the top bed was to hot to sleep in when air conditioning was turned of
Staff was nice and tried to help

Nice Hostel in LIC

Communal living, sort of. Small kitchen with dishwashers and two large refrigerators. The honor system seems to work just fine. Common areas, with sockets to plug in laptops and tablets.

Good location for transportation options, especially public trains and buses. Many dining and nightlife options for the younger crowd abound, albeit it a bit on the pricey side.

Nice staff and location. For the money paid they could have thrown in free breakfast or at leastl free tea and coffee but the owner is too profit chasing for that. Also some of the other guests were aggressive or weird and made the atmosphere different.
