Lovely staff and fantastic food.

Great little place for a local stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurant is nice with attentive service. Breakfast was fantastic with continental as well as hot food. Dog friendly throughout and so welcoming. Great if you’re a dog person. Good proximity to both Southwold and Aldeburgh. The room does get hot so need to keep windows open. Hope it doesn’t rain else you’d have to close the roof window for fresh air.

Lovely long weekend, lovely food and friendly staff.

The hotel was in an ideal location, room was ideal for a one night stay. Staff were friendly and efficient, only had breakfast which was plentiful with several options of choice. Used the Tesco clubcard which reduced the cost by £50.

Lovely property well converted from old cottages to modern rooms. Food lovely, staff very friendly. Only concern for us was that the room was so warm at night despite the use of a fan we struggled to get a full nights sleep. If you are a light sleeper I would suggest a room away from the road as passing traffic can be heard.

This dog friendly hotel was such a wonderful surprise from start to end. the room had a bed for the dog and treats. The staff was super friendly and our all birthday weekend was MAGICAL - Do not miss this one.

We enjoyed our stay - the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was ok but hard to cool down during the hot weather in spite of having a fan provided and the hot water was dangerously hot!
We had invited friends to join us for dinner on the first night and the food was excellent. Unfortunately because of dogs being allowed in the dining room our conversation was punctuated throughout by a barking dog who the owners couldn't control. It really spoiled our evening. At our final breakfast there were 5 dogs in the dining area. The staff were very aware of the situation and gave us a quiet area for our second dinner and volunteered the same for breakfast. However I think there should be a separate area for dog owners. We have a dog in our family so we're not anti dogs but we are very aware that some people are allergic to or are scared of them and think that should be taken into consideration in public areas.

Excellent food served by a very friendly and attentive staff. An attractive, comfortable establishment situated in a pretty village with pleasant walks.

Great place. Highly recommend

Comfortable bed in a spacious room and nice to have a bath. Bit noisy as road quite busy. Dinner & Breakfast both excellent. Stayed in Bittern which had a wet room - difficult to drain shower water quickly!

Good food. Comfy bed.

Fabulous food
4.4
Claustrophobic room with no window/no sockets near a mirror/lack of shelving and safety grab handle in bathroom/far too many dogs wandering off lead.

Room and facilities were excellent food was also very good

if we want to go to Minsmere again this will be our choice hotel

The only issue I have is that the reception insisted on taking all the details from my credit card when it was unnecessary and leaves the card open to fraudulent use. They insisted that details were deleted after departure, but it is not necessary.

Totally enjoyable stay at a very pleasant hotel with excellent staff and great food

Excellent hotel, friendly and accommodating staff. Clean, tidy room and great breakfast

Great hotel in a quiet village within an easy drive to the coast. We paid for early check in which made our overnight stay last a bit longer and gave us a base to explore nearby beaches.
Dinner was lovely and staff accommodated dietary requests. The breakfast was fantastic offering a great range of continental and cooked options.

The hotel was very comfortable and relaxing. We had a lovely big room with a gorgeous shower.
But the stand out element was the food. The evening meal was stunning and delicious and the cooked breakfast was outstanding. An extra plus is that they serve up free canapés every afternoon. They were perfect and really gave us a taster of what the evening meal would be like.
And all of the staff were very welcoming. Cannot recommend this place enough. Will definitely stay there again.

Lovely room and nice food - especially the fried breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

Loved how our room had a roll top bath, perfect way to relax. The added luxurious toiletries gave us a pampered feel. We particularly enjoyed the ILY coffee machine and high quality teas in the room, this all added to our experience. Breakfast was a delight having a mixture of continental and cooker dishes. The dining area was excellently decorated and we loved that it was only a stone throw away from our accommodation. Thank you for a relaxing stay.

The room was on the second floor up two flights of very steep, narrow stairs. Not ideal when carrying a puppy. The breakfast on the first day was ok (Poor quality bacon though), on the second day, despite offering Sourdough toast on the menu 10 times, they had none as ‘we don’t get a delivery on Sundays’. The alternative was cardboard, cheap toast. If only the management cared, perhaps they could order more on a Saturday, or get in the car to a local bakery? On the final morning there was no hot water for a bath. They also forgot to put my dogs food in the ftidge meaning we had to throw it away. Shoddy all round, I’d avoid if I were you

This is a really nice and very dog friendly place to stay at if exploring the east Anglian coast. A few things are a little on the expensive side but overall very good. Great breakfast too,

Very welcoming and professional staff. Stylish, well decorated rooms with lots of little touches like the coffee machines and toiletries. Both the evening meal and East Anglian full breakfast were tasty, well cooked and full of local ingredients like local cheeses. Very dog friendly.

Really nice hotel for a quiet getaway. Very friendly and helpful staff with good service. The food in both the evening and at breakfast was very good. They do need to sort out the in room entertainment though.

Beautiful rooms (our second stay here). Much prefer the improved breakfast service.
Lovely to see somewhere so dog friendly, although we didn't bring our pups this time.
Great base for exploring the area.

Clean and comfortable room, great food and excellent service

Fab staff, great food.. such a welcoming place. I would definitely stay again hopefully without Storm Babet!!

The Hotel coped well with a power blackout on the Saturday. The outside staircase to my room was quite steep for elderly guests. The staff were all helpful and friendly.
4.4
The walls were very thin so you could hear everyone around us, making for not a very relaxing nights sleep. Breakfast service was incredibly slow

Hotel was cosy, staff were lovely, food very good. Room was clean & spacious. The only thing I would like to make other travellers aware of. The hotel is dog friendly, which it does state on the website, therefore in the dining room when eating your dinner, you could have several dogs around you, (( we had 6 )) . I would've liked to have been given the option of eating my meal in a dog free area. Only because I'm scared of them. Otherwise I rate the hotel as lovely.

A fantastic hotel close to Minsmere and Dunwich. Lovely rooms and fabulous food, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

We stayed one night and it was lovely. The staff made us feel so welcome and the room was amazing. We have been eating at the Crown for years and always wanted to stay, so this was a real treat for us. We were not diss appointed.

Great stay - lovely room and great breakfast. Thanks

Really lovely one night break away, excellent service. Nestle in the restaurant was top class engaging and suggesting wines and 20 year old ports to us. The room was really clean, slight problem with the shower door but reported to reception who were going to look at before the next guests arrived.
4.4
Nice cosy room, excellent shower, comfy bed, nice bed linen, great hospitality tray. Coat hangers much too high in wardrobe, couldn't even take them off the rail!! Window blind needs to be darker, lets daylight in too early!!

Would recommend staying at this pub

Firstly, the good: staff were all very pleasant and helpful, food in the restaurant, dinner and breakfast were all good, although the dinner was a little on the expensive side, the location was good, there was plenty of parking, the common areas of the hotel were all friendly and well furnished.
Then the not so good: the room we had, was a basic room and was advertised as such but really for anyone over 5 feet, you're constantly banging your head on the ceiling as the room was in the roof attic space. The tiny shower cubicle with a fixed shower head which was lower than my head was impossible to use. The room also didn’t really smell too clean, fortunately there was a sky light in the sloping roof to enable us to get some fresh air. Finally, and again this was advertised as a pet friendly hotel. I personally do not think pets ever belong in areas serving food.
So in conclusion, if you love dogs and are not very tall this is the hotel for you. Otherwise I’d find somewhere else to stay.
