My recent 4-day stay at Thatch Caye Resort was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel right at home. The oceanfront cabana room was a dream—waking up to the sound of the waves and the stunning view was a highlight of our trip.
We spent our days snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters, and the resort’s team ensured we had everything we needed for a fantastic experience. Everyone was incredibly accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our time.
One of the unexpected delights was the island’s friendly dogs, who added a unique charm to our stay. If you're looking for a place to unwind and connect with nature, Thatch Caye is the perfect spot. I can't recommend it enough!

If you want quiet and private this is the place for you. When we first arrived at the island we thought we were the only guests there. They only have 15 couples at one time stay on the island. Staff was extremely accommodating. Such a beautiful place to stay plus plenty to do.

The resort is remote, quiet and beautiful. The staff is great and cabins are supper.

We stayed at Thatch Caye for two nights in an overwater bungalow. It was such an amazing experience, very quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed the natural pool and snorkeling around the island. The food was delicious and the staff are super friendly and helpful! We would love to go back again.

Travelers beware! It may look OK in the pictures online, but it is a classic bait and switch. Be prepared to spend an astronomical amount of money that is NOT listed or disclosed online. We stayed in an over the water cabana, which has a pretty view, but VERY cheaply built and minimally maintained. The resort is 2-2.5 stars at best, NOT 3.5 stars. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, old and sagging badly in spots. The AC barely works, and not enough to cool the tiny room. Upon arrival, we were offered the “all-inclusive” food package at an astronomical price. THERE IS NO MENTION OF THIS PRICING ON HOTELS.COM. We have stayed at other remote locations in Belize, so we understand the need for planned meals, but this was a complete ripoff. We opted for “a-la carte” meals, which ended up costing more than the inclusive package, to our absolute shock, and all for sub-par food that was at best, was buffet quality. The resort is located 8 miles off the coast which requires a round trip boat ride. We emailed the resort 3+ times to receive pricing on the boat ride, but never received a response. Other nearby islands list their boat prices very clearly. After one night, we decided to check out (and forfeit our second night stay). Upon checkout, we were hit with a massive bill for our boat ride. The manager was beyond rude, screaming at us. The resort thrives on over charging gringos and gauging guests, if that is your vibe, you will love this tourist trap.

Thatch Caye is a beautiful island escape. The people there are fantastic, from Sharyn at the bar, Nelson at the tables and Darvin with the snorkeling equipment. The grounds crew is fantastic. Everyone on the island is friendly and eager to please. Loved it.

Boat transfer to the island was incredibly easy. The resort is beautiful. Easy snorkeling right off the beach in crystal clear waters with an abundance of ocean life, as well as kayaks and SUP boards to use. Many other day trip options to choose from both on the ocean and if you want to travel in on the mainland. Meals were very well prepared, fresh, and varied. Bungalow above the water was an experience like no other!

Cool experience to stay over the water. The king bed was very comfortable; however, We didn’t sleep well because storms came thru during the night and the rain and crashing waves were super loud. I know the resort has no control over that.
Liked the remote feeling.
This place is waaaay more rustic than advertised on their website. We decided to splurge and stay there for one night to wake up over the water for my birthday, which was also Thanksgiving.
It’s not worth what they charge for one night. It could really use some sprucing up.
We did not feel like we got our money’s worth for the all
Inclusive price. We ended up spending over $700 US
Total for one day/night. I Expected more. The ceviche appetizer at the bar was very good. Dinner was boiled potato and chicken. Breakfast was pretty good- French toast, eggs and bacon. They did not take good note of my cantaloupe allergy. No recognition of my birthday, despite staff emailing me about it before the trip. Honestly, the staff was nice, but service seemed to be a little disjointed. We had to wait about an hour and a half to leave for our trip out from the Pelican in Dangriga because we had to wait for another couple. We were given 2 totally different Conflicting explanations by staff.
The most redeeming part of our experience was the 2 guys from the resort that took us by boat to Tobacco Caye (where are stay was much better value and much more satisfying, even though it’s advertised as rustic). They were great!

The staff and service level is excellent you have the choice to stay on the island or do excursions it is very remote and beautiful. Communal dinners in the evening are nice breakfast and lunch are also provided if you do the all inclusive.

Excellent, over and above staff and service!! Loved the island, paddle boarding, relaxing in hammocks and swinging! Dinners were excellent. We only stayed 2 nights and that is probably all I would want as might get bored. FYI: you will need to purchase all inclusive package for water taxi, food and use of toys. This will double your cost. If you don't it will cost you more.

Thatch Caye is an amazing place to experience but a confusing mix of services and tourism.
Thatched cottages but one concrete cube available for 3 rooms did not match its surroundings,
Walking to serenity point past wood working repairs and a sewage depo..
Room for improvement, but cannot fault staff.
Menu limited, dietary requirements poorly catered for.

This is a great place to go if you want to relax on the beach or have some fishing or snorkeling adventures. It's a very small island and meals are served family style so there's a lot of socializing with the others guests, which can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. There's only wifi in the main lodge area so it's a great place to disconnect. We visited here on our honeymoon and Leslie the manager graciously upgraded us for free! All the staff are very friendly and accomodating.

The island was like something imagined from a TV show or movie. It's small, with 30 guests at capacity and meals are served at set times in a community setting amongst the guests. Snacks and drinks as well as big spray, beach equipment, and most things you might need are available and included in the price of the stay. Staff was very attentive and accommodating, but not overbearing in any way. Excursions are available for signup, however we did not partake.
There are various sections of the island that serve different purposes, although it's only 1 mile long, and wi-fi can only be found in the central community room. The beach is small, but nice and things were pretty quiet during the day because most people did excursions.
We stayed for only a couple of days, but got exactly what we wanted out of it. No worries and complete relaxation while being taken care of by excellent staff! Thank you for the wonderful weekend!

The rooms are small like a studio but designed so you could enjoy the outdoors more. The food was good but a la carte prices are so expensive that you have no choice but to pay the $150 per person per day package. Since the island is only accessible by small plane and boat, there is a $115 per person boat transfer fee, which is included in the all inclusive not a la carte package. There is also the expense of the small airplane. Its a very small private island but the staff was great and attentive. The resort should consider more excursions. Overall very nice trip.

I stayed in an overwater bungalow, and surprisingly I was not in my room that often. With all the island has to offer its very hard to get bored. Even though you are able to keep busy with all the activities I didnt get that tired feeling. Everyone on the island was very nice and the bartenders there were awesome.

Loved the staff!!! Mando and Junior were our faves, always so sweet and attentive. Ben their activity captain was very fun! The island is small and encourages everyone present to mix and mingle; we met a lot of well traveled smart people; great conversation. On our trip we had honeymooners, we had 40th Anniversary, and engagement there on the island. All in one week. Loved meeting our new friends, the disconnection was perfect.

There is only one restaurant and you have to eat when the chief is there or you will not eat at all, I was left at the dock there is no tv dogs all over

My husband and I decided to spend our last 3 days of our Belize holidays on this island, was nicely greeted at the dock by Justin and Brooke and a few staff - accomodations were unique - very nice and clean. the staff were all so friendly and helpful. the paddleboarding and kayaking were amazing in those waters. lots of marine life. The meal plan was very good.

The island is yours and about 10 others. It's amazing. Dewey (the island dog) makes it e even better. Could not ask for more.

The staff was excellent. They're super friendly, and they will do what it takes to make sure that you gave a great experience. The tours and other activities are extremely fun, and they definitely keep you busy. My favorite was the trip to Xunantunich, the Mayan Ruins. This resort for me gets a 9.5 out of 10.
