great place, had a great view , Dune side room , bed & pillows were awesome. bathroom could have been bigger but was in good & clean condition, good water pressure. balcony was nice, left the door open to hear the waves all night

There are 2 buildings. Only one has elevator. Beware so you book the one you want. Breakfast not so great. Room was clean. No smells. No mold.

First time staying here....usually book John Yancey. Very clean, nice staff, liked the viewing deck to watch sunset. Didn't participate in wine and cheese (beer drinker) but nice amenity. Overall good experience!

I’m can’t say enough how much we enjoyed our stay!! Wish it was 2 nights!! Absolutely coming back again. The staff is great, the amenities are great, and you have access to the beach from the hotel. Everything about the place is so cute!!!

We absolutely loved our mini vacation in this hotel. It was beautiful. It had a balcony facing the pool, and a view of the beach that within walking distance. The staff was so nice, friendly and helpful. We will absolutely be back!!

Staff was amazing and super friendly. The location was great, vew from the balcony was perfect. Courtesy breakfast was very good. The room itself was absolutely adorable! The only negative was the bathroom. It was typical hotel bathroom, nicely stocked & clean. It was just dated & could use an update. Water pressure was not strong. No hotel is perfect, but this one felt welcoming & comfortable. We have all intentions of staying here again when visiting the area.

Our room was a partial ocean view but great view of the ocean. Great trip, very relaxing. Breakfast every morning was wonderful! Rooms & property were very clean. Staff so polite and friendly.
Definitely recommend this hotel if you’re going to Nags Head. Lots of nice restaurants close by.

I enjoyed staying at the hotel. I did not like being on the first floor pool side because I didn’t get a good View of the ocean. I will no better next time to make sure I’m on the 3rd or 4th floor. It was a nice visit.

It's a very nice, chill hotel with easy access to the beach. Perfect for a quiet getaway. Well kept and all of the staff were personable and helpful. The ocean-side balconies are wonderful for just relaxing with an amazing view of the sunrise.

My room smelled like wet wood or dirt. Sheets we're a little moist but it's hard to keep these hotels from this being so close to the ocean so I'm use to it. I also didn't complain or say anything to the staff. Amenities are great at this hotel. Room safe is a great thing to have and having a ice machine for drinks and coolers is really nice. Elevator is also a good thing. Overall it's one of the nicer places to stay. I've stayed here before and didn't have a problem with moisture or smell in my room but it wasn't quite in season either so the weather could have been cooler. Outdoor pool and indoor pool and beach front access. How can you go wrong? Despite the room I will always stay here and will always highly recommend.

Stayed at Surf Side for a weeks vacation/ 48th Anniversary. Everything was great about this hotel, staff when checking in was friendly, room was clean and comfortable, nice touch with the 5:00 pm
Wine and cheese social also the cookies @ 8:00 pm both everyday. The cleaning staff was nice and seemed happy to be there and the breakfast everyday was amazing with the girls serving the breakfast, they were super nice Jeanette, Sara, Ella and the rest 😊 enjoy your stay when you go. Convenient to many places.

This is an excellent hotel in Nags Head. Amenities are great as well as cleanliness is very good. Towels are replenished and garbage is removed each day from your room. Very good breakfast with many choices. The servers are very friendly and kind. The afternoon reception and evening cookies is a nice touch. We also appreciated the dedicated ice machine for coolers as well as having ice water and coffee available all the time. We felt the hotel was clean, safe, homey, and customer focused. Front desk staff were also cordial and helpful. Plan to visit in the future. Thanks for your hospitality!!!!

Surf Side Hotel was a great place to stay for our first time at Outer Banks. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. There were some nice perks like wine hour and fresh baked cookies. The bathroom in our room did show its age, but that didn’t bother us too much. Our room had a great view of the ocean on the dune side. Would definitely stay there again.

Did not honor my request for a 3rd or 4 th floor room. Happy hour snacks were always empty. Huge tear in the bedspread in our families room. They found alot of trash under their bed. The sangria they have had during happy hour in the past has been replaced w cheap red and white wine. The breakfast was good. They have beach chairs to use as well as beach towels which was nice. Not sure we will pay the premium price again for a basic room. We have stayed there many years in a row and really enjoyed it but this year seemed like a step down. Pool area was clean reception area was clean. Lots of dirt in the corners of the bathroom in the room but hallway bathrooms were clean. It’s an expensive place to stay and it’s been our favorite up until this year.

We stayed in the ocean front king suite . For the price it was a little cramped but has an amazing view. The room is equipped with three balconies!

From the moment we walked in we were greeted in a warm, professional manner. Our room was clean and tidy with an amazing ocean view. Breakfast was always great and we appreciated the other small touches such as coffee and fresh water being put out as well as cookies and popcorn. All those small touches make a big difference. All the staff we encountered were also very friendly. It was our first time in OBX and we would highly recommend Surf Side Hotel and we will book again next time we come!
