Friendly staff, nice room, loved the pool and the breakfast. Super to be able to eat together downstairs with our dog.

In need for a returb. Could not fault the staff one bit who were extremely courteous. Try and get a room in the ‘lodge’ where the rooms seem to be a bit more updated.

Great for the price and location. Lovely staff and amazing breakfast every morning.

Polite staff. Room was exceptionally clean. Facilities were great. No problems at all! Thank you.

Lovely hotel. Beautiful views. Excellent breakfast. Comfy bed. Powerful shower. Really friendly and accommodating staff. One very minor negative - only 2 plug sockets in room, which accommodated the tv and kettle, so makes it tricky to charge phones, dry/straighten hair etc. But I'd definitely stay again

Rooms are old and need refurbishment and not clean .Room 20 doesn't have a shower, only a bath and a very small bathroom. The mattress definitely needs changing.

Overall it was a wonderful stay, though we had a couple of "little niggles" which took the edge off of it. On two occasions there was no water supply to our room for short periods of time, (just as we wanted to shower!), and on one day our room was not serviced by the chambermaid, even though I went to the front desk twice to ask, when they seemed to be running very late, and was told that they had finished for the day. Anyway, our room was clean and the beds were extremely comfortable, and a good breakfast every day too. Generally happy though.

Whilst the general Hotel facilties were fairly good, the room itself left more to be desired. The Toilet/Shower was quite small for a Superior room, and there were spots of peeling wallpaper in the room and not much colour. The View from the room was lovely though, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location is very nice.

Beautiful hotel once upon a time. Website misleading as was from before it was taken over. Has gone down hill in all ways.

Couldn't fault my stay here, would stay again.

Great hotel with fabulously friendly, helpful staff. Breakfasts were varied and well cooked and the evening meal we had one night was excellent - the dining room overlooks the sea which was great. Our trip was in early March so somewhat out of season, and places we wanted to visit were closed (especially on Mon/Tues) but staff came up with other ideas of where to go including recommendations for lunch. Room was clean, spacious and warm, if a little tired/dated, but good supplies of tea/coffee etc. Shower was good and hot water plentiful. Swimming pool looked lovely too. Definitely recommend!

The Brunswick is a delight.
8 of us (family & friends) stayed for three nights & we all look forward to visiting again.
The hotel is under new ownership; who are moving the Brunswick a step above the competition, offering a standard of service & food that was so good it made our stay on the Isle a delight.
From first arrival to the moment we left, the staff were wonderful, friendly & helpful. They made every minute in the hotel lovely.
The rooms were spotlessly clean & were cleaned as we ate breakfast each morning.
The restaurant food is exceptional, far better that we can recall having in any hotel: Fine dining at reasonable prices. Our whole group agreed that if we lived in the area we would all visit the hotel just for the restaurant experience.
Two of our party, including me, are Coeliac (Gluten intolerant), which makes stays in hotels & visits to restaurants always a bit of a concern. The attentiveness of the hotel management, staff & kitchen staff was second to none. By being exceptional, all of our concerns were removed, & we could simply enjoy our lovely breakfasts & evening meals.
The indoor pool is spotless, the rooms were spotless, the bar comfortable & of course also spotless & the overall ambience a delight.
Okay, they still need to tidy some of the carpets & some rooms may need an update, but after a few months ownership they have already made the Brunswick a delight to stay in or eat at.
I strongly recommend you visit the Brunswick Hotel.

Very attentive staff.
Excellent food.
Lounge with picture windows overlooking the sea.
Our family room was a bit tired and could do with some tlc, but good to have a separate bedroom so we all slept well.
Good value for money and we had breakfast included.
We enjoyed the pool.

This hotel is really well located, for both the esplanade and the old town; 5 minutes walk to the esplanade and 6 minutes to the old town where there are a selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. There are incredible sea views and it is on the coastal path. It is easy to reach all attractions on the island by car.
The staff are all friendly and helpful, they noticed my wife was having difficulty with mobility at check-in and offered a ground floor room.
We ate at the hotel's Horizon restaurant on our first evening, and had a well cooked and presented dish of roast lamb rump with interesting accompaniments, red cabbage, pomme puree, and parsnip crisps. The desserts were also tasty and attractively presented.
We had breakfast included. There is a continental selection and you are able to order a good variety of cooked options.
Altogether a very enjoyable stay on the island.

Hotel was good and only 5 min walk into town and 5 min walk to the beach. Indoor pool was warmed up after I complained it was cold. Outdoor pool still closed till May.They said couldn’t do evening meals as work being done in kitchen but noticed others was having evening meals. Had already made plans to eat at a local pub. Bar was open but a bit expensive. Bottle of beer was £6.2510 min walk to train station. Might use again if not expensive.

Lovely hotel, very welcoming & friendly staff.
No issues at all. The rooms could do with modernising as very dated, despite this the hotel was spotless & our overall stay was fantastic.

We had a great break here for two nights. Sea view room was lovely, nice decor and very comfortable and cosy. Bathroom was new and very nicely fitted. Breakfast was very good with cold buffet and a choice of hot dishes to order. We had a swim in the indoor pool whixh was warm both in the water and in the area around. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again if we go to the Isle of Wight

We had a pleasant stay for three nights at the Brunswick hotel in Shanklin. The staff were very helpful and tried really hard to meet our needs. The pool has to be booked in advance for private use and when we arrived we were initially told that we could not swim for two of our three days. However, staff did eventually accommodate us so we could use the pool. The decor downstairs is very nice, as there is a relaxing and calm atmosphere. The views are lovely from the dining room and in warmer weather there is lots of outside seating and an outdoor pool. The room we had didn't have a sea view but others we saw looked lovely with bay windows overlooking the sea. Our room was a little dusty and needed some updating. The mattress and divan had seen their best days and the shower was feeble, with very low water pressure meaning it took ages to half fill the bath. Breakfast was ok for meat eaters and vegetarians but very limited for those with dietary needs such as gluten free. There was nothing that was gluten free at the buffet and this would be easy to fix by providing some GF cereal, yoghurts etc. Overall a nice place to stay and very friendly and helpful staff.

This hotel is under new ownership and although every effort has been made in improving it, there are evidently major issues. It took the hotel 4 attempts to to get us into a suitable room. The first room had a badly leaking radiator and smelt, the second room was cold, the third room had a bath with no working shower head and a mattress which felt 20 years old, and the fourth room was better although extremely dated however, directly outside was a communal living room with a snooker table and TV which was noisy.
The hotel advertises indoor and outdoor swimming pools however the outdoor pool was closed due to issues and the indoor pool was missing a third of its water, was slimy, stale, green and not filtering.
The manager Fred and all staff were helpful and apologetic and invited us for dinner in the hotels restaurant. However on receiving the bill, only £20 was deducted from a £90 meal of what was a supposed goodwill gesture for our issues.
As a restaurant I would 100% reccomend it and would consider it as a hidden gem of the IOW. As a hotel, I would very much stay away from. It. The rooms are dated, uncomfortable and dirty. No bathroom should have a carpet as it is not hygenic. Coriddors had ripped carpets, a strong smell of shake and vac and filled with dust. The rooms had stains on carpets, towels and bedding, poor mattresses and very dated decor which is in urgent need of an update.
I will not be staying at this hotel again nor reccomend anyone to.

The hotel was very tired, deco wise. The wifi did not extend into the rooms, the tv in the room was very small and difficult to see, breakfast although good quality was always luke warm. The shower in the room did not work properly and although reported was not fixed.

The hotel is clean and has a classy feel about it. A couple of issues: WiFi is available but not in the room, only in the public areas. However public area consists of dining room where I was told I couldn't sit and seating area with two areas of seats - basically if 4 people are already in there there is nowhere private to go. The hotel has its own water feature (large puddle) at the entrance when it rains so be warned from experience it will completely soak your feet if you don't notice it in the dark!
At breakfast I was told where to sit, even though all but 4 tables were unoccupied. Not sure why!

There was a breakfast buffet as well as menu you could order from which were both included in the free breakfast we got with our stay. The menu itself was very good and tasted amazing! All this with great sea views from the restaurant.
