I’ve stayed there quite a few times as the location is great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. However, as I stay away quite often I’d forgotten how bad the food was! The last time I stayed there with my wife, I remember the Beef Teriyaki being the best thing on the menu. This time it was awful. The meat was hard and dry with no sauce etc. I sent it back to have the same meal returned, but with a load of sauce and piping hot throughout as it had been nuked! Ended up just eating the rice and the veg and left all the meat! Terrible! Great place to stay, but the food is a lottery. The full breakfast the next day wasn’t great either. And to top it off, I had no hot water in my room, but this issue was resolved pretty much immediately thanks to the staff :-)

Lovely place and friendly staff. Bar area was nice and location good. Room could have been cleaner, was a bit dusty. The TV didn't work and the remote had no back to it. Bed was too hard a mattress for me personal preference really. Would stay again if in that area.

Swivel on shower head was broken, so had to hold the shower head in order to shower. Everything else was fine. Good location, walking distance to everything. Friendly and attentive staff

Very comfortable suite for a family of six with a well equipped kitchenette. A little unusual as there were no external windows other than Velux skylights, but we were only staying overnight so this did not matter. Slap bang in the middle of Penrith, so seconds away from shops and other eateries. Amazing breakfast in the morning in the restaurant!

Stopped off en route down South and stayed in the apartment. Lovely and clean and spacious. Easy check in. Really enjoyed it. We didn't eat in the restaurant but plenty of takeaways available nearby, and accessible parking at the back of building

Friendly welcome by friendly staff. Prompt curteous lovely staff at dinner and bar as well as breakfast. Will visit again. Only downside shower head in room 2, is not great or supported in holder, small issue but others might think more of it.

Basic rooms above a pub - room was musty smelling and dimly lit. Access either through a busy pub or down a unwelcoming side alley way! Central location but I won’t be returning

Nice folks, great service. Our room was huge and comfortable! No A/C in the rooms, but plenty of fans to keep it an okay temperature. No elevators! Amazing food and kind employees! Would stsy again, just pack light!

Great hotel - good staff, clean rooms, great breakfast. The only downside was the poor comfort of the double bed and the velux window in the room that meant that I woke with the light of dawn. Overall a good hotel for a short stay.

Rooms are modern and clean but too small for anything but a short stay, especially if on business. Duvet was lacking in quality and substance but delightful staff and a really excellent breakfast more than made up for such little quibbles.

We had a family room: double bed, single bed/day bed and roll out bed. Room was very clean and staff behind the bar were helpful at check in. There's a separate breakfast room for breakfast. Service was fast and friendly and freshly cooked breakfast was pretty good. Room was a good size but as it's over a bar it was a bit noisy. We could hear low level music till quite late which wasn't too annoying. However, there was also karaoke/live music and that was very loud at times we were trying to get our children to sleep. Worth bearing in mind if you have light sleepers. The toilet also made noises clearly audible in bedroom constantly with a surge of noise which sounded like it came when other rooms flushed! Decor was nice, tiny kettle slow bit adequate. Took us several laps of Penrith to find the car park off Friargate. Parking is free and breakfast was included, as is wifi but we couldn't get it to work for us!
