We loved this location! Close to the beach and restaurants! We enjoyed the pool, restaurant, and ocean!

Great location on La Madera Beach and easy access to the centre. The pool was wonderful overlooking the beach. Many restaurants in the area. Units had a full kitchen. Internet was excellent.
It was a wonderful place but does have many steps.

We had a great stay at Arena Suites (Oct '23). We had the "Family Master" suite which had 2 bedrooms, a living room, a well-equipped kitchen / dining area and a beautiful porch overlooking the beach and the bay. The room was cleaned very well every morning by Elizabeth (fresh linens/towels and dishes were washed). The restaurant was super convenient and the food never disappointed. Our server was always Armando - super friendly and great English skills. The hotel sits on a hill, so there are quite a few steps to get from the street entrance down to the beach, and elevators are not available. Wasn't an issue for us, but could well be for others. There's a convenience store across the street that is open from 9a - 6p or so that had any last-minute snacks, medicine, groceries you might need, but the prices reflect the convenience (sunscreen was about 3x what you'd pay at a nearby pharmacy). The hotel sits on a very nice sandy beach (very few rocks) with good waves for body surfing, and only a hundred yards or so down the beach is the paved walkway that leads to the downtown area. You can walk from the hotel to the downtown restaurants in 10 minutes or so. Overall, it was a great experience and we'd highly recommend this hotel!

I had to get another hotel and they didn’t give me my money back. The room smelled very bad.

We enjoyed our eight night stay at Arena Suites. The location is perfect - directly above Madera Beach. Our room was comfortable and the outdoor kitchen/living area was great fun. The kitchen was well equipped and all appliances worked. Water was hot and plentiful - always nice to have.
Each day we used the loungers on the beach and indulged in drinks and snacks from the bar/restaurant.

Great place to chill. People and restaurant attached are excellent.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The AC unit had failed so we were moved to another room while it was worked on, free of charge. The restaurant and location are great!

Great location. At the top of a hill with an amazing view of a beautiful bay. There was a lovely infinity pool with plenty of seating options or you could swim in Madera Bay. The onsite restaurant served above average food. The service was great and everyone very friendly, always wanting to help.

Clean, comfortable and good location. Easy walk to el centro and the malecon. Only downside was it could be noisy at times (this is a busy area). We would stay again for the convenience of the location.

We stayed in the junior suite with jetted tub. The drawback is it was right above the pool, which can get noisy with kids during the day. The view is amazing. The kitchen is outdoors , well equipped. There are alot of stairs to get to your room, but the staff will help with your luggage. The restaurant , Madera serves excellent food and good drinks on the beach. We had great service with our waiter,Armando. You can get a massage on the beach right next door for $25 for 90 min. If you just want to relax and enjoy the beach, you would like it here.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return.

I loved the restaurant and food. The service was great. Had one mishap with other guests who were drunk, loud and boisterous and inconsiderate of other guests staying at the hotel.

Arena Suites has a great location, right on the beach and quick walk to the Centro or La Ropa beach. Plenty of restaurants around. The room was clean, with the ceiling fan and A/C, plus a kitchenette. The room was cleaned every day and everyone in the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The hotel provided 20L bottles of purified water for very little fee, which was very appreciated. There is a convenience store across the street. We really enjoyed our stay. We have only one complaint. The lounge chairs on the beach are in the restaurant's area. We were told that 6 palapas with 12 lounge chairs where allocated for the hotel guests. But it appeared that the restaurant was catering to the people who paid for the drinks/meals more so than to the hotel's guests. When it got busy at the beach with lots of tourists around, the restaurant put out only 3 umbrellas with 6 lounge chairs, all palapas were reserved for the dining tables. The lounge chairs were quickly taken and we had no place to seat on the beach, we asked hotel staff to add more lounges but there was no action.

The suites are steps from a beautiful warm ocean beach. Lovely staff and clean. Somewhat expensive in comparison with other places around but for us well worth it to be so close to the beach.

I booked the family room that shows a bay view. It is doen an outside hall. Unviewable from room. They had a king with an actual view and let me switch there. We met kinda in the middle on price. In addition to this misstep, the sewage was being dug up. The maids didn't get around to you until 4pm. The water pressure is bad. The curtains are see through. They had workers banging around on another project all day. The neighbors are noisy and throw cook outs that last forever. With their terrible music balsting. The safe is too small for a lap top. The room barely fit the bed. No pool. On the plus side, they had 3 English tv stations, the wifi worked ok, they speak English, not buggy, it's in the middle of the beach options and town and it's quiet most of the day - except for early morning birds. A little more honesty in advertising and care about the consumer experience and this could be ok. I stayed at a place one street away from beach (with pool) at half the price.

Some rooms have a shared balcony overlooking the beach. Room 4 is very bright all night with the hallway light that shines through high windows that have no way to cover them. Location is right on the beach and is quiet at night (no booming nightclubs close by). Rooms are very average but meet the needs. The staff was good and friendly. Not 5 star but OK for a hotel right on the beach.

My boyfiend and I loved this hotel. Right on the beach. The location was perfect - a walk to Playa la Ropa but this area made us feel like we were experiencing more of the local culture and it was a short walk to downtown with cool bars and amazing local, authentic cuisine. We wanna stay here every time we are in Zihuatanejo!

The place is lovely, staff is so helpful and nice.
Rooms are clean and fresh.
The beach(playa madera) is down stairs with a lovely view.
I booked a suite with a jetted tub and it was beautiful and peaceful.
Aparently there was a booking error from Expedia, and another couple booked the same jetted tub room and same dates as us but we kept the booked room. Not sure what happened to them, but we got the tub. Other than that. Excellent !
And great for couples.

Started out booked into a different room though charged for the room I wanted. Stayed 5 nights in my original choice and had to move to a slightly lesser room the last 4 nights. Great right on the beach. No shortage of spots to hang out. Great service from bar and servers. Shower heads were terrible. First room bed was not comfortable, second room was good. Liked the outside kitchen, though the coffeemaker in the second room was tiny and only get 5 filters at a time, so bring your own? Expect sewer smell wherever you are. Have to ask for beach towels, they should be in your room like bath towels. Need dish soap and tea towels.

Our room was a nice size, bright and cheerfully furnished. Very clean. The staff were very accommodating. Nice big terrace. We were the first level up from the beach level. Less hot walks upstairs but the view was a bit obscured by palapas. The kitchen is serviceable. It would have been nice to have a few basics such as salt or coffee filters. As we were only there a few days we didnt want to invest in many staples and didnt use the kitchen a whole lot. Blender, toaster, coffee maker....all the basic equipment. Everything is a bit old and dated but who cares. Bathroom and shower were small but fine. Lots of hot water if you feel the need. I would suggest that they leave a broom in your suite so you can sweep the sand as you track it in. Alternatively a sturdy mat at the front door to wipe your feet on. I tried to not track it in but its hard not to even after rinsing off at the foot shower area.

The hotel is on a hill with the rooms in stair step fashion. From the beach to street level is a climb of about eighty (80) stairs - the alternative is to take a path along the beach into town. That aside, great location.
