Excellent Hotel for families, especially for foreigners. Personal Guest Assistant manages family activity events and kids entertainment program at no extra charges. Customer satisfaction and caretaking is their highest priority. Absolutely best family hotel in Sanya Haitan Bay Region - we visited many other before!

We wanted to experience Haitong Bay and had moved to Sofitel from a XiaoDong Bay hotel. Sofitel is definitly a superbly designed property and has some nice touches - kids pools, warm water pools, large lap pools, activity pools and a huge variety of places to lay, sit, rest, nest, swing outdoors. They gym was good, but it could have used a few more machines. I noticed they had a pole, for dancing! Staff were good, but sometimes could have been more proactive. My major complaint is the helicopter that takes off from near the pools sometimes every 15 minutes for short tours up and down the beach. this is loud and annoying - and really is the key thing that would cause me not to return. Guests should be aware that the "no swimming" signs on the beach by the hotel appear to be permanent. So if you want to swim in the ocean, this is not the beach to stay at.

I have stayed a five start hotels in Europe, China, Singapore, and the US. This hotel is not run as a five star hotel. We will not come back.

We had a lovely stay at the Sofitel Leeman in Sanya. The hotell was pretty full so we were swiftly upgraded to a suite which was very appreciated. The service was great and the entire resort was delightful, everything from the main building all the way to the beach, we were greeted by friendly staff and lush landscaping. The pool areas consisted of several pools with a different atmosphere, you will definitely find one you like.

During our vacation in Sanya we wanted to stay at hotels located on different bays, and after days of researching hotels we decided on the Sofitel Resort. Immediately after arriving we regretted not booking more nights at Soiftel! After a smooth check-in with a paid-for upgrade to a room with a better ocean view, we immediately checked out the grounds. The main pool is beautiful and big, with many areas to swim around and explore. The pools closer to the ocean are also big and clean. The ocean was spectacular. The water is such a pure blue, with gorgeous waves, and a pristine soft sand beach. The only downside is that you can't swim in the ocean on this bay, as there are no nets keeping sharks out. Still it was pretty amazing to be the only people in sight on the beach.
The room itself was very comfortable, I like the modern decor and felt the bed was super comfortable. A few things definitely need some updating like the outdoor patio furniture and one of the sockets was loose in the headboard. Additionally, cleaning staff came back twice after we checked in to add items they had forgotten earlier. On our second day they completely forgot to replace our facecloths, hand, and bath towels that had been taken away. Aside from these small housekeeping issues we loved the room.
In terms of food options the breakfast buffet was very comprehensive with many Western and Chinese options. In addition to breakfast, we also had afternoon tea in the main bar/cafe area.

We stayed one night at Sofitel.. The kid pools area are disappointing. Saw sand and and leaves in the pool and the slide facilities look wearing and not safe. Many pointing edges and no wrapping around the slides. I do not recommend to bring kids to play there. Other adult swimming pools are fine. The beach is nice with fine and smooth sand. The food is also good with many choices. We tried the dim sum all-you-can-eat lunch and the experience was bad. Food waiting time is too long. Food is served slow. We ordered 3 rounds but what we ordered did not all finally served, even we asked the waiters to follow up the missing dishes. In the end, they just told us that the food order was missing and the restaurant has to be closed. We paid for the price but did not enjoy what we deserved. This is the worst part of our journey.

I stayed at this resort for two weeks in suit with an ocean view with my wife. The breakfast buffet included a wide selection of western and traditional Chinese dishes with lots of fruits and beverages. The room cleaning services were exceptional, the bed was made and towels were always changed. We frequented the various amenities such as the swimming pools, hike trails, and Sofit gym when it was too hot to be outside and always came back to a clean comfortable room for an afternoon nap or a great night sleep. There are lots of surrounding attractions as well but make you have WePay or bring cash if you want to explore offsite locations. I would recommend this location for a weekend or week long for couples or family vacation.

The service. I’ve never understood why people fussed about service... I’m fortunate to have stayed in a lot of fine hotels and their service have always been good but nothing exceptional. This place is exceptional (I never rate full marks and rarely leave reviews). Everyone from the club check in staff to the director, Adam, made us feel so welcome, not in a “I need to do this to get a good Expedia rating” kinda way but ‘I genuinely care about my job and giving you a great experience’ way. Trust me... go here, thank me later.

This was an excellent resort. The staff was exceptional. They went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Beautiful pools and grounds. Can’t wait to return.

Not very foreigner friendly. I made it through with some basic chinese, but the staff generally don’t speak English and it was a struggle for me to talk to the concierge, etc. There is is a food mall called Haitang 68 which is a 5 mins cab ride where you can get food and market goods. The food on site wasn’t that good, cold expensive room service and the restaurant was OK (I tried the Thai one). Just a week ago I was in the Sofitel in Bali which had amazing food options, so I was hoping for more here. I would come back if I had WePay or AliPay, since almost everything in China uses that, so I couldn’t use their rental scooter. They don’t change money and there is no nearby ATM so it’s a struggle to get more cash. Also foreign credit cards do not work nearby, mostly because the younger generation doesn’t know how to use chip cards (they all use touch pay system or QR code), and I couldnt explain it to them in English. My fault for not being prepared though on the payment part. I would come back if I had the right payment tools.

I stayed with my wife and 3 years daughter in the end of May Chinese holiday season.
The hotel was build recently so the facilty is very new and very modern. It has very big swimming pool that kidz goes crazy. So interms of the facility this is greatest place.
3 restaurants available in the hotel not too expensive and taste is good but the hotel is located to middle of nowhere so you have to manage in those 3 restaurants or take taxi to go restaurant for food hunt. And not really interesting place near by for sightseeing.
The hospitality is far less than that you experience in popular resort hotels in world wide. Some staff do not speak English and you may struggle with communication if you do not speak Chinese.
I recommend this holtel to whom wants to stay only inside of hotel during holiday and do not demand for involvement with hotel staff.
This is good hotel in general but cannot find any outstanding character comparing of other asian beach resorts.

Very nice hotel indeed. Considering the price, highly recommended.
Nearly half the price of top grade resorts such as mandarine oriental or sangrila.
Facilities are new, clean and Breakfast buffet is great.
Everything is very beautiful and beach is relatively close. Pools are great, too.
Rooms are great but they could have used a little better mattress, not the top of the line mattress.
However in the lobby, there is no air conditioning. Sanya is very hot and humid.
It is cool to have a open lobby, but it def needs air conditioning.
Dinner buffet was not so great compared to breakfast, and Chinese restaurant is Good. Not great. Just good.
I would recommend this hotel.
Revisit? I don't know. Just overall I don't think Sanya is a place to visit twice in a life time.
Wuzhizhou island was very disappointing. Very commercialized with overpriced activities.
If you were in Cali or Cancun, activities could be done right in front of your hotel,
but you have to take a ferry to the island to do those activities, and it was not that fun.
I recommend to just stay at the resort and just rest. Don't bother going to other locations.
But my trip to Sanya was very satisfying!
