Primera Hacienda Hotel Boutique exceeded our expectations. The property, built in 1870, is very beautiful. The common spaces are nicely arranged and decorated. The rooms that we viewed were all clean and tastefully decorated and our room was very comfortable. The dining area is quite cozy and inviting. The included breakfasts were very good and filling. We also took the option of eating in for our evening meals and were treated to wonderful Chilean cuisine. Most of all, our hostess and hotel manager, Maria, treated us like family from the moment we arrived. She looked after every need to ensure that we were comfortable and enjoying our time in La Serena. The hotel is also conveniently located within easy walking distance to the city centre. We highly recommend Primera Hacienda Hotel Boutique.

Amazing! highly recommend this place. Maria was really helpful, quick to respond and friendly. Beautifully decorated, breakfast was amazing, home made jams and cakes. The building and rooms have a lot of character. Beautiful property with a nice courtyard and a nice pool.

Beautiful and well maintained hotel in historical building with a lovely patio and garden with pool. - After months of staying in hostels, it was like a calm oasis, just a few minutes of walking distance to Plaza de Armas.
Also nice breakfast with homemade cake and fruit is served. There is also a friendly and well behaved dog named Poker. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable about the region and speakers fluently English.
We planned one night there and in the end stayed for three nights.

The pillows are the worst I’ve ever came across at a hotel. The shower can best be described as a wide trickle, zero water pressure at all.
My room was by the street, so beginning at 6:30 or so the morning traffic zooming by prevented you from sleeping any later.
The owner has to let you in to the hotel every time. You don’t get a key to the hotel, only to your room. Upon my initial arrival I waited several minutes outside and had to ring the doorbell multiple times. This happened again the next day after dinner. I can’t imagine how it would work had I chosen to do one of the observatory tours. Best case scenario is you’re waking the owner up at 2am to let you in. Seems there is a chance you’ll just be stuck out on the street unless you start pounding on the door to be let in by another guest.
My room was right by the front door, so if you want to go to sleep early too bad. With the owner needing to let every guest into the hotel every time they leave there is commotion until all guests have arrived for the night.
Do not park your vehicle on the street outside, you will get a ticket. The owner knew I was driving and parked on the street, but didn’t feel the need to tell me for some reason. There are no signs indicating any parking restrictions on the whole street.
Bring your own soap and shampoo, none provided. WiFi worked well, the owner is very nice so I don’t want to be typing this. But if you chose this place to “class up” like I did, I’d choose elsewhere.

Excellent. Do not be fooled by the exterior (like we were), When the door is opened you will be meet with smile. The moment we entered the lobby I knew that this was the place for us. The lobby , courtyard , pool area are all very inviting. Accommodations are spacious , comfortable and clean. The homemade breakfasts are beyond excellent. Everything is homemade and wonderfully presented. The owner and staff are genuinely attentive and caring.
We highly recommend this hotel.
Enjoy your stay

My daughter and her grandma are traveling together in La Serena and I made the reservation on Hotels.com from the US, the hotel was so easy to work with as I wanted to pay for their stay and the hotel made this seamless. My mom and daughter had a great time at the hotel and only had positive things to say. On their last night the hotel even had a holiday party and all the guest were invited. Can’t wait until I can travel there and stay here myself.

This property was formerly a private home that was turned into a small boutique hotel. I believe that a lot of thought was put in to make this a very attractive hotel. We could'nt say enough about the friendliness and effort that everyone showed us while we were there.

Maria and Paula took such great care of us. We loved breakfast each morning and having restaurant and activity suggestions to match what we had planned for the day. The hotel is clean and beautifully historic. Couldn’t ask for a better hotel

Convenient location for the Bus Terminal. Charming courtyard. Fresh breakfasts. However the room was windowless, no tea making facility in the room (available to buy in the café) and lacking other attention to detail e.g. no towel hooks in the bathroom. A loud chiming doorbell can be heard throughout the property at all times of the day. There is parking but for one car only. Staff are helpful and informative. The school next door didn't disturb us. So generally a good convenient spot to the terminal and a taxi ride to the Airport, rooms with character but modest.

Great staff, friendly. English speaking.
Good breakfast in cosy environments.
Confortable beds, clean.
Clean and nice bathroom with towels and soaps/shampoo.
Arrived late by bus, no signs by the door so take note of the street number if you arrive late and knock on the door until they open or give them a call.
5 minute walk from the bus station.

Owner run hotel in a beautiful older villa. Beds comfortable, and breakfast was plentiful (including custom-made eggs). Location is good.
They have a pool (too cold for us).

Friends from New Hampshire recommended this hotel and we were not disappointed. The staff was exceptional, breakfast delicious and the ambiance was portrayed an oasis in the middle of the city.

First, upon arrival, we were immediately offered a tea, coffee, espresso, pisco sour. That was nice, except we were being charged for whatever we chose and not informed of this fact. We were then promptly checked in and shown our room, which was not the room reserved on hotels.com - supposed to be a king bed (which we saw in another room), but given a queen bed in a smaller room. Breakfast was good, except if you ordered the coffee or espresso which was offered, instead of the powdered coffee, you were again charged extra. Finally at checkout, they had already run my credit card with the value added tax included, which was not supposed to be charged to tourists. Ultimately they did refund it to my credit card.

Roberto and Angelica were excellent hosts. They couldn’t have been nicer or made our stay any better. The room was comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast was excellent and Roberto cooked for us one night and the food was fabulous. Angelica gave us excellent suggestions for a drive to Elgui valley and Vicuña and other sights and restaurants in La Serena. We would definitely stay here on a return trip to La Serena.

The rooms were very small and we had 2 twin beds instead of a larger bed. There was also not an option for heat (though we were in off season so rarely needed for most guests here). The living/main area is lovely and the hotel staff was very friendly. Good breakfast as well.

Good choice for those interested in exploring La Serena city center as opposed to the beach area. Owners were very welcoming and hospitable. Made for a pleasant stay.

Staff are gracious hosts. Beautiful boutique hotel. Air conditioning definitely not required but a fan for air movement would be my only desire. Everything else was perfect.
