What a wonderful place we were lucky enough to stay at! Placed just outside the city walls, thus avoiding the busy inner city walls, is a cosy and comfortable b&b. We had a great, spacious room with a lovely bathroom and a balcony overlooking a meticulous garden. The breakfast was by far the best we had in tuscany with fresh food served by the lovely owners, good coffee, fresh croissants, ham, scrambled eggs. Fantastic. Will 100% use next time we are in Lucca and will recommend to friends and family.

So grateful for the hotel owners. Our other accommodations fell through surprisingly. I booked this BnB at 9pm same day on hotels.com and called the hotel right away to tell them we’d arrive in 30 minutes. They were a little bit surprised but totally accommodating. Everything went perfectly. Their hotel is beautiful and the breakfast was so wonderful. We had delicious coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice, plus all sorts of other treats. Thank you!

Al Porto is extremely close and convenient to the pedestrian bridge that crosses the train tracks and takes you to the south gate of the old walled Lucca. There's also a 24 hour pharmacy very close for when you need that vacation day 5 Actifed! Giovanna provide us way more breakfast than we could eat each day, but the beds were the best part. We had several previous nights of poor sleeping on hard, flat beds at other B&Bs, but her sons are doctors of some sort and told her she needed Tempurpedic mattresses. It was so recuperative for us! Our only note was that there is no TV. We were hoping to watch the Palio at night, but we were able to get it on the iPad, so not a big deal.
Pretty easy to drive to, as far as Italian roads go, as well!

A terrific place to stay. Comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Lucca is a wonderful place to visit and convenient for day trips to Pisa and Florence.

Al Porto Di Lucca is a lovely old property that has been tasefully renovated and decorated to combine modern facilities (such as the bathrooms) with the original features and furniture in keeping with the age and style of the house. We stayed in the room Maria Teresa facing the lovely quiet garden with a balcony and wished our weather during our stay had allowed us to make more use of that feature. Our hosts Giovanna & Francesco and staff were very friendly and the breakfast provided was very generous and more than enough to set you up for a day in Lucca and beyond.
Al Porto Di Lucca is in a quiet street just outside of the city walls nearest to the Porta S. Pietro (a five minute walk away using the footbridge over the railway lines). It is very convenient for all of the places you would want to visit. Heading in the other direction takes you to the train station (another five minute walk) where you can use the ramp or stairs, again very convenient. You do not get any noise from the railway station and do not need a taxi to get you to the B&B, it is so close.
We had not visited Lucca before and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Al Porto Di Lucca is an ideal comfortable base to use to visit all of the sites, and I think staying within the walls would have been noisy and more problematic. I would recommend Al Porto Di Lucca to anyone.

The experince at Al Porto di Lucca was magical!! The owners.were kind, accommodating and thoughtful!. The room was beautifully done with a wonderfully comfy bed, patio that overlooked a groomed and flourishing courtyard, and even mongrammed towels!! The breakfast was absolutely delicious!! We walked to the center of the old town, in the evening and loved exploring the streets. It is so close to the train station, which was perfect for our travels. They also let us leave our bags for a few hours after check out, so we could explore Lucca during the day. If we return, we would love to stay here again!

Our flights were very delayed so we arrived 12 hours after we planned and well beyond the final check-in time (8pm). I called the host and he told me he would wait up for us until we arrived which wasn't until 12:30am! The next morning his wife served us a wonderful breakfast! This is a comfortable, historic, beautifully decorated home just minutes outside the Lucca wall and the train station. Wish we had had more time to enjoy it but still highly recommended!

We stayed 4 nights. This is as good as a B&B gets. Breakfasts were spectacular, our room was en-suite, spacious, clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Décor throughout was vintage and classy. The garden was beautiful and available for guests to use anytime. Our hosts did everything required to make our stay a home from home. Immediately nearby is an excellent pizzeria and the railway station is a 5 minute walk for direct trains to Pisa, Florence, Viareggio and the mountain villages. The property is outside the amazing city walls (within 10 minute walk). If arriving at the railway station be aware that the station (pedestrian) underpass leads directly to a ramped street exit leading directly to the property - do NOT follow Google Maps directions or you will find yourself pulling suitcases over stone chipped pavements and a very high footbridge in the opposite direction. Overall this was a superb stay.

This is a great place to stay as a base for visiting lucca and a stones throw from the station. Literally 4 minutes walk and you are in the walled city. The b&b itself is like stepping back in time, the husband and wife owners were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful and we even sat in the garden and drank our own g&t and the owners provided us glasses and ice. We hired bikes in lucca one day and then realised that we could have just borrowed them free of charge from the b&b. Loved this place and would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

This was a beautiful house with an outstanding breakfast room. Your privacy is respected. The bathroom was renovated and very well appointed in our room called S.Anna. A coffee and tea station is available all day long. Very close to the train station and only a 6 minute walk to Porta S.Pietro the gate to the ancient city.

We had a very enjoyable seven night stay at Al Porto di Lucca this August. We arrived quite late but this was not a problem. Our room was a decent size with a large comfortable bed and most importantly air conditioning as it was very hot outside. The bathroom was well appointed with a supply of toiletries that were regularly replenished. Our host Giovanna was most welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. She gave us lots of tips about where to go and what to see in Lucca and surrounding area. The perfect host. The breakfast was a high point with orange juice, tea, coffee, a variety of rolls, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt and more. Delicious. The villa is just outside the city walls which are only a five minute walk away as is the railway station. If we visit Lucca again we would definitely want to stay at Al Porto di Lucca .

Porto di Lucca is run by a wonderful couple who went out of their way to make our time there comfortable. The breakfasts are marvelous and they prepared it for us an hour early when we had to leave early to catch our return flight. Their house and garden are beautiful and they are generous and welcoming. I cant imagine a better place to stay on your visit to Lucca!

We were looking for a place to stay for 6 nights so we were very careful with our choice and read the reviews carefully. They reviews were great and in the end we'd also highly recommend this B&B. Great hosts, breakfasts, and overall feel and space. It was a highlight of our stay in Italy.

Our hosts were very welcoming, as was the whole service on offer, including an excellent continental style breakfast. A communal area for guests with tv, books & magazines, tea & coffee and a drinks cabinet with an honesty charge of €1 for us was much more sociable than having tv and tea & coffee making facilities in our room - although appreciate others may consider otherwise. Within close proximity to the train station and the city walls, along with its parking, this B&B has a fantastic location. It was a perfect choice for us, and I would certainly return if visiting area again.

This B&B is quite lovely, the pictures are true to life. Although it is not in the historic centre, it is a 2 block walk from one of the gates and only a 3 minute walk from the train station. The room and the B&B itself are great, the hosts were friendly and we had a wonderful breakfast. If I had any regrets it was that Lucca itself and this B&B were worth more than one night.

We are Californians who loved our stay at Al Porto di Lucca. We stayed for two nights the first week of October 2017, and my husband and I both agreed it was one of the highlights of our trip to Tuscany and Rome. Since we were staying on the premises with the owners of this delightful B&B, Francesco and Giovanna made our stay comforting and personal. The public rooms were appointed with the personal effects of the innkeepers, which made us feel as though we were staying with our relatives as we observed family pictures and vintage Italian decor in their charming 18th century house. Our room was spacious and furnished with lovely antiques, and the bedding and bath linens were comfortable and of good quality. The shower was delightfully spacious and bath facilities were modern and luxurious.Every morning we enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice and outstanding cappuccinos with our breakfast Special dietary concerns were addressed without any issues and we never left the table hungry. The owners loaned us bikes that we used to ride around the city walls, a short distance away, and accommodated all of our needs with graciousness. We plan to return to Lucca and this lovely B&B in the not-so-distant future. Grazie, Francesco and Giovanna!

Excellent accommodation with a really personal feel. Great hosts, I felt welcomed into the family from the mother who greeted me on arrival in the hosts' absence to other family members who were also visiting while I was there. The most beautifully presented breakfast with too many treats and offerings to list. Exceptionally clean bathroom and great amenities. Very convenient location close to the train station and easy walking to the town/sites. Thank you so much for what has been a real gem on my travels.
