Un lugar muy bonito y tranquilo. Vi algunos colibris en el jardín y la familia es muy bonito, habla Quechua y español. Es un camino corto desde el centro de Otavalo pero sentí seguro en caminar allí.
So much quieter than other properties in the center of the city. Breakfast is simple but sufficient and I felt safe walking to and from the downtown area for other meals. The owners are wonderful and speak Quechua as well as Spanish. Some beautiful long-tailed hummingbirds were out in the garden.

Hostel property of quechua people. very immersive experience. The terrace overlooking the city is jawdropping. Very clean and quiet. Definitely recommend. Jose is an awesone person. Breakfast is basic bit for the price thats a steal

Nicely situated on a peaceful hillside above Otavalo. Beautiful spot. Walking distance to town.

The location was difficult to locate since it was high up in the hills. We arrived around 5:30pm. The hostal was decent but old. The front desk staff seemed confused in our reservation and were difficult to communicate with. The rooms were simple and adequate. The rooms were older and had a cabin feel to them. The bathrooms were in the room but small. It was difficult to regulate the temperature of the water. The hostal had music playing from speakers that could be heard outside and inside. Thus was odd. This blaring music started again at 7am in the morning when we were not yet awake. Breakfast was included but minimal with only cafe, eggs and croissants with juice. I do not think we would stay again. I will say that the views from the location were very good.

Beautiful , clean , far enough from Otavalo, to avoid noise .
Beautiful rooms , with a great view……..
But, yes, steep climb to reach hotel . but easy to find.
Breakfast was good , but instant coffee ?? would prefer fresh coffee.
From the hotel , following the railroad, nice hike to waterfalls, and Parque Condor.

Extremely welcoming and friendly owners. Rooms are beautiful, with a spectacular view of Otavalo and the surrounding volcanoes from the rooms and upstairs balconies. Close enough to the town center to walk but far enough away to be quiet.

Very nice family takes care of the hotel. Excellent service, Very enjoyable stay. The hotel is hard to find with google map as it is located slightly above the city and depending where you are google leads you in different direction. It is on a road with cobblestone and on a tough slope few minutes from downtown.

This was our second visit to Otavalo. We returned to Hostal Curiñan because we loved it the first time. The staff is small but they are all wonderful. It is a long walk to town but taxis are abundant and inexpensive. Parking is secure. Google Maps does not easily guide you to Hostal Curiñan but it is worth the effort.

Lovely local hotel on the hill directly above Otavalo's main district. The indigenous owners Jose and Matilde are kind and helpful. At check-in you receive a sheet of paper translating 10 common phrases from Spanish to Kichwa. You can walk down to the Plaza de Ponchos and walk back as well if you don't mind the steep climb (or take a taxi for $1.50). Magnificent views over the town and across to Cotacachi volcano.
A modest breakfast is included.
Ask for room 307.

Amazing views of Otavalo from this hotel perched on the side of a mountain. Very steep walk up (take a cab for $2) but you can easily walk down. Can walk to the famous market. Good personal breakfasts. Owner family is very nice.
