I extended my stay for a few more days

I loved my stay in here, it's a gem. I'll be back definitely. The staff is very friendly and they will tell you more about Yucatan stories and places to go, the breakfast is delicious, and one thing I gotta say is about the whole structure of the hotel, it gives you that rustic vibe and feel... and the shampoo!!! I think i'll be back just because of that shampoo they provide! haha The beds area amazingly soft, just enough to lay yourself down into deep sleep after a full night out, or to chillax at the pool after a full beach day. I strongly recommend renting a car at National by the airport, they are also friendly. The parking at the hotel is super convenient, and nearby. If you want a relaxing beach, where almost no one is around, Celestun is your spot. (progreso is too crowded). Plus, you'll see the flamingos and ojo de agua.

Few minutes walk from El Centro. Extremely quiet, i needed rest, that was the place, private access to the roof for your private piscina. The best is no kids.

We had a great 10 day stay at Casona 61. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the rooms and public areas were immaculate, and the location made getting around the city very easy. Wifi and AC were top notch, and the grounds were beautiful. The only thing lacking was a mini-fridge in the rooms, but this was a minor inconvenience. Would definitely stay again without hesitation.

pros:
staff are so wonderful, kind, and helpful.
location is excellent, central and walkable.
rooftop view is gorgeous (but completely unused by the hotel)
cons:
no room fridge.
bed sheets have a musty smell.
only 2 free bottles water is not enough for a longer stay.
perfume in lounge is overpoweringly heavy.

Clean, comfortable room, nice pool area and staff are very nice & make sure you are satisfied with everything. Nice little breakfast, good price. The only thing hotel can improve is put a small fridge in the rooms.

The staff was wonderful, and extremely helpful. The bed and pillows were not comfortable, hard and dated.

The hotel was clean and very nice inside. My room was cozy and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. I really enjoyed being able to walk around outside alone and feel safe. My only complaints would be that the linen was dingy and, even though it smelled fresh, it looked dirty at times. Also the sidewalk near the hotel was blocked by trash that attracted rodents, no fault of the hotel.
3.0
Property itself was fine, nothing spectacular but adequate. The surrounding area is dirty and dimly lit with narrow roads and busy traffic. I would definitely skip staying in the centro area and opt for a more known mainstream stay.

Good option for staying downtown Merida

Ventilation on the bathroom is a problem, they only have a window that partially opens and that’s it, you need to keep the door open to keep the air circulating. Also we requested additional towels and the staff at the front desk told us that they could provide those to us but with a $50 MXN fee per towel.. kind of weird, this is the first time I experience something like this at a hotel. Another issue that we had was on one ocasión when we returned to the hotel, the front door was locked, we were knocking and calling the telephone number for about 10 min and no answer… after a lady who was at the kitchen on the other side of the building noticed us and came to open the door for us (it was around 7:30 pm…)

I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. I rented two rooms (3&4) from July 23 to July 24, 2023. I found that the sheets were dirty, with a sweaty smell, and it was clear that they had not been changed since the previous guest. I had to call and ask for them to be changed. The pillows has a sweaty smell, and I found cockroaches in the room. The windows did not close properly, and mosquitoes entered the room. There were only 2 towels per room, and they were old and poorly washed. The toilets did not flush properly. The front desk staff were always friendly, but to anyone reading this review, I recommend that you do not take the risk and be lured by the offer or location. Do not come to this hotel, it is not worth it. We have been traveling the world for over ten years, and this is the worst hotel we have ever visited.

Really good staff, I think the rooms and baths could be kept up a bit better.

Everything was great lovely hotel and very near from downtown and restaurants.

The Property is beautifully renovated and very cozy, but comparing price vs. quality it is time for some upkeep in the rooms: needs new faucet & toilet fittings, a hand of new paint on the walls and I was never able to get hot water for the shower & shave.

A beautiful little boutique hotel with everything to make your stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and you can’t beat the location

A real great experience, the personnel is the absolute best, you are treated really great, I was trying to get accommodation on a different hotel and Customer service was horrible.
If you like to take scolding hot showers you will get disappointed of the temperature of the warm water.
I absolutely loved staying here, wish I would have gone for the terrace rooms

The common areas of the hotel are beautiful. The rooms are a little bit small with little natural light (at least on the first floor). Overall, it was totally comfortable and nice location.

There was roaches (big ones and several) in the room, sheets were stained, pillows had hair all over, floors not clean, staff always congregating in the back area and unavailable To guests at front desk and to top it off when attending breakfast they were always short on one thing or another on their already limited menu.

A quiet place, the tub on the roof is great if you take this option

We had a very pleasant stay at Casona 61. The boutique hotel is located within walking distance of restaurants, historic squares, and shopping.
It has a casual, friendly vibe. There’s a small but attractive pool, and several areas inside and out to sit and relax.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They were always willing to help with recommendations for restaurants and activities, and to answer questions. They also provided us with cold bottled water whenever we asked for it. The housekeeping staff also stocks the rooms with bottled water each day.
We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast on the patio each morning, which was a nice way to start our day.
We stayed at Casona 61 for 7 nights, and recommend it to travelers looking for a friendly, comfortable hotel in Merida.

Great statu. Very quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The bar I read on other reviews is no longer in service therefore it is a great quiet stay for travelers to get a good night sleep.

This hotel is a hidden gem about 3 city blocks from the main square in Merida. Andrea greeted us on arrival and turned out to be the best part of the whole place. She helped us book restaurants and massages, and directed us to experience the best of the area. She's the best! The hotel is nice and comfortable, and the Terrace room we had was spacious. There are NO ELEVATORS so you may not want to book the Terrace rooms as they are on the top floor and taking those stairs after a long hot day of exploring Merida was difficult. They brought us as much purified water as we could drink at no extra charge - VERY important. Suggestion: leave the air conditioner on low while patrons are away so the room is at least a little cooler upon returning. It was 100 degrees one of the days we were there. The pictures here are very accurate, and we would definitely stay here again. Some hotel exec needs to give Andrea a raise!

The rooms is very small, the pool is very small. Everything is very clean. There is no elevator for luggage. Short staffed. The bed is comfortable but when you lay down to sleep you stare at bright lights both on the TV and the cable box. The air conditioning unit is on the wall right above the headboard and is noisy for being that close. The little tub on the top floor of my room was a bust. I am tall with a disability and didn't feel safe on the circular stair case when I was wet.
