The Owners are the nicest people and always ask if we needed anything

Had an amazing time on the river. The owner was very nice. The property was very quant and felt like a home. We loved it.

Loved our recent stay at these quaint, homey cabins. We had 3 kids with us - 15,13, and 9. We had the Polar Bear cabin, which had 3 bedrooms. The kitchen was equipped well enough with what we needed, and each room had a queen size bed. There was also a sofa bed in the living room. The cabin itself was what you'd expect in the great outdoors - rustic, simple, and with the occasional critter or two. The area surrounding the cabin was beautiful, and the Vallecito Lake was within walking distance. We explored during the day and enjoyed spending the evenings back at the property playing cards at the picnic table, badminton matches, ladderball, horseshoes, and swinging on the playset. The property manager was available when needed and kind, helping us choose a fantastic hike and recommend local establishments nearby. We will happily choose Bear Paw Lodge again when we visit Colorado!

Everything was clean but the bedrooms were extremely small. With no A/C it got very hot indoors. The host was very nice. It was a long way to the water. We had to drive there.

very bare bones- no paper towel, shampoo, etc. Pilot light out on stove, had to manually light gas burners each time used, told Rick, the owner, he said wind probably blew it out, but didn't fix it and cabin smelled like gas the whole time, no communication on satellite tv use, very little communication about necessary things like wifi, no one in office at all while we were there 3 days, no sheets or pillow left for pull out bed/couch

We staed in a small cabin for 4 nights and had an excellent time. The cabin itself was fine, furnishings were a bit old and worn, but not terrible. There was nothing wrong with it. Everything worked. For the money, it was an excellent value. The property manager was easy to contact. These cabins are located in a beautiful place.

Nice quiet cabin off the beaten path, but still close enough to activities and action in town.

Overall this is a good place to stay if your intentions are to be out enjoying the area rather than staying inside all day. The property is a located in a nice area with great trails and beautiful views nearby. It is a little dated but clean and adequately stocked for a simple vacation. This is probably not the place for high maintenance travelers but a great place for people seeking quiet, affordable, no frills accommodations. When we arrived, we had a small problem in the unit we originally booked. When we contacted the owner he was prompt in addressing our concern and moved us to another available unit for the same price. This made for a very enjoyable stay for our family!

This may become a long review so here’s the executive summary: The cabin’s heater did not work. Kitchen utensils and cups were dirty and there was only 1 of some items. There were no linens for the sofa bed. The Wi-Fi is terrible. My buddy and I arrived around 7pm on October 19, 2019 after a 14 hour drive. There was nobody at the office to receive us. Instead there was a note and a key. We located our cabin and entered to find the heater running and the place uncomfortably warm. We lowered the thermostat and the heater shut off. And stayed off. Nothing we did could get it running again. We turned to the wood burning stove for heat. The fire went out at some point during the night and we woke to a temperature of 48 degrees INSIDE the cabin. [In case you aren’t familiar with Colorado in October, every night the temperature dropped well below freezing – some nights in the teens!]We called the manager (still nobody in the office) and he came over promptly to look at the heater. He showed us how to open the access door and use a paperclip (which was already there and bent to the proper shape so clearly this was an ongoing problem that was never properly fixed!) to bypass a relay and get the heater to turn on. We left and returned after dark to find that the heater was still running and had been running all day. The temperature in the cabin was close to 80 – unacceptably hot! So now the heater was either on or off and had to be restarted with the paperclip. The thermostat had no

Great cabin with all the amenities. Bring your own shampoo, conditioner and bath soap and youre good to go. We would definitely stay here again!

A friend and I stayed in the Panda cabin. That was the best location: more apart from the other cabins and huge deck facing the woods. Very nice small property backing up to woods. The cabin was clean and cozy. Furnishings are old, but comfortable and very fair price. Fireplace had firewood already right next to it. Free VHS videos available. Would have been nice to have a DVD player. But not a lot of time spent watching TV when you are in such a beautiful place. Overall Great value. FYI for motorcycles: driveway and parking is all gravel and uneven in places, so big motorcycles could have a challenge. We managed it though with a lot of caution. Would definitely stay here again.

I am not sure if it was Expedias fault or that of Bear Paw Lodge but I made the reservation online and after a 16 hour drive found out that it was closed for the season. Luckily I found somewhere else to stay in the middle of the night. Extremely poor communication on someones part. Either way, I wouldnt waste my time with them again.

The pictures don’t do Bear Paw Lodge Justice. It was a beautiful and serene setting. Rick was great with check in and attentive to what we needed. The sleeper sofa was a bit bumpy, but fine for smaller children. Overall a great place to stay!
