The hotel is in an isolated place but there is a sister pub/hotel nearby and many buses into town. The Metrocentre is nearby (a disappointment) and the Rowers has funky old fashioned ship-related decor with wooden panels and antiquated-style bathroom furnishings. The only drawback are the doors to each room which need to be pulled hard to close.

Good price. Not the cleanest.

Couldn't even get in the hotel, all locked up, looks derelict, ended up staying in another hotel down the road

I love the hotel, but it's clearly seen better days. On the other hand, it's also seen worse days, and management seems willing to make a go of it. I hope they succeed, as the property has wide staircases, large rooms and a large ensuite bathroom for our room. Location isn't great, but we enjoyed being able to walk to the Metro Centre for many dining options, including Ikea!

Clean and warm and everything worked but needs a some sort of update/refurb.

Property was clean but extremely dated.

Check in experience terrible, nearly walked away. Bathroom filthy, hairs on floor, used toiletries left on sink and cracked/broken tiles on floor. Cheap and cheerful is fine but didn't expect dirty. No-one around at check out so couldn't leave any comments. Friendly staff when found them eventually, but a dirty bathroom is not what I signed up for.

Budgrt hotel. Clean crisp linen bed and room. No issues. Friendly too.

One look at the exterior persuaded us to drive on and book a different hotel. Outside the entrance was a dishelved woman smoking. No nearby safe parking.
The interior looked disgusting with dirty curtains and junked piled up against the windows. Clearly a DHSS hostel.
The metal gates were shut with slurry beneath. The back yard was full of junk.
I have since looked at the recent reviews and im soglad we didn’t stay there.

Very noisy place

Seemed to be the only hotel not to put their prices right up during the Sam Fender concerts. We were a bit worried, but hotel was great - spacious rooms, clean, very welcoming staff, right on the bus route to the town centre

Lovely hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff.

The hotel really needs work doing to it. The bathroom was really badly tiled. The room was so out of date felt like going back to the 60s.
I can see that this maybe good for a night if your looking for something really cheap and going to a football game and k ow your coming back drunk.
The room walls are so thin that you could hear every word said next door.

There is nobody in receiption all the time. No cafe. No sitting area. No bar. No restaurant.
The room was warm and nice, but the bathroom was very cold because of the window that I could not close it, it was not fix.

Just as expected. Very convenient for our stay and no problems at all. Received a warm welcome and was very quiet

Building very dated, room dated but clean very close to the road so noisy with traffic. No food available on site

Very basic. Issues with remote control. The buttons weren't doing what they should. The channel up button was the volume button and it got loud but i couldn't turn it down. Tried calling front desk but no answer. Reported it next day and was told thanks for mentioning it. No apology. Wont be staying again. Room shook when vehicles passed.

All good comfy room could not get TV working bus out to location from Newcastle bus in. Taxi needed if on night out

While it calls itself an hotel, I am afraid it isn’t one.
It is clearly a place that has minimal maintenance and minimum effort to provide any comfort.
It is clear that changes to the original building were made to increase the number of rooms available.

I enjoyed my stay. Kash the owner was very friendly can gave us tips were we can go. Susan was great, a great asset to the hotel. Minor issues like shower head kept falling, took a while to sort out.

The hotel check in desk was empty, door was locked from outside.
I walked in with another guest, waited for 3 hours, night staff AWOL, OYO hotels kept calling the manager who was more interested in drinking rather than serving a customer.
Hotels.com Customer Support simply kept me on hold without responding. Absolutely unacceptable service
OYO Hotels Customer Support is based outside the UK! They couldn't do anything.
Two and a half hours later, I found a key to room G2 behind the reception desk (Mine was G5), I told the guy on the phone I am checking if it's empty and locked myself in and went to bed.
I was advised that the manager would be there by 08:30. I am an early riser, woke up at 6 am, waited till 9am for the so called manager to turn up to complain to him but didn't get anywhere with them. I had to leave the hotel and he was still asleep! If this manager is so much in love with sleep and going out to party, why run a hotel?
Would NEVER stay at this chain again

Stayed for the Great North Run, hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming, sorted out a taxi to the venue for race day!Only negatives were the thin pillows and having a fire detector placed directly above my bed which had an annoying light.
