A family emergency required me to get a motel room for several days. It is an older motel and it seemed that my room had some renovation. A large entertainment center blocked a brick wall that once had a fire place. There was a five to six inch gap between the entertainment center and the wall that you could see the fire place. Yet, it did not affect my stay as there was an air conditioning and heating unit in the room. The desk staff were very cordial. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. It made my stay enjoyable under the circumstances.

Door would not open. Soap, shampoo etc poor quality. Coffee filter pouch wrong size. Did not replenish coffee. Toilet one foot from ground. TV on side wall. Poor lighting. No luggage stand or extra blanket. The door was the worst nearly impossible to open. We saw multiple guests struggling with this issue. This was our second stay at this establishment. We won’t be back.

Good: Close proximity to freeway and restaurants. Bad: When you walk into the room you will be greeted with musty smell. No " Do not disturb sign" Receptionist is always MIA and you will need to call and wait to be assisted. Cooking station is not clean.

Would give it one star because the door lock worked. Very loud AC, bed hard as a rock, no exhaust fan in bathroom, ONE coat hanger in closet, crumbling paint in bathroom, smallest TV I have ever seen in a Motel, paper thin walls and ceiling. Wanted upstairs room and was told that there were no king beds upstairs, so had to try to sleep under a herd of elephants wandering around upstairs. If it were the only motel in town, I'd bring a tent next time.

I made reservations for 9/17–overnight with early checkout. We have an emotional support dog who we take everywhere (he has a heart condition and cannot be left alone so we are his support! Not a large dog—30lbs. We checked in at the front desk and were met with an extremely rude young woman who asked if he was a service animal. I told her it was illegal to ask but yes he was. She said she didn’t see a vest so she turned us away. I told her the whole reason I chose that motel was due to their pet friendly description online. She said I was lying and they have no such policy. I asked her to show me where it said “only service dogs” and she told me take it up with Expedia and to LEAVE!! She had a thick accent which was hard to understand and when I looked at her incredulously she started to climb over the front desk!!! I was in tears and hoped we could find a place at 9PM. The people waiting behind us were given a hard time by her as well by the things they said as they were asked to leave as well. We had lived in San Luis Obispo for 45 years and had NEVER been treated so poorly. Upon making my reservation, I chose to pay upon checkout so I wasn’t too concerned. Upon reading my credit card statement I saw I HAD been charged—the nerve!!! That was our last night in town as we’re moving to another state the next day. If we were still living in SLO, I would have gotten to the bottom of that rat’s nest issue So you are my next resort. Thank you

The room was disgusting. It smelled bad, there were black hairs all over the bathroom floor, there was a piece of cardboard covering something on the wall. I paid for 2 nights and left after the first night because it was so bad. There are lots of places to stay in SLO. This place should never be anyone’s choice. Sleep in your car before staying here.

Our stay at Olive Tree Inn was not good. First room was dirty and in need of major renovation. The furniture, curtains, air conditioning unit and the sheets / bedding all needed immediate attention. That is not to mention other fixture like the lamp shade that was cracked highly visible with the light on. We were return customers, not again.

This place is completely outdated for the price you’re paying. Everything is run down, barely any water pressure, all beds made horrible squeaking noise, just felt dirty. Check out was 11, we had maid service knocking on our door at 10:15 to clean and turn the room. I’d just rather not stay here ever again.

I chose this property on price alone bc we were getting in late and leaving early. If you don’t expect too much and willing to endure, it will do. It is overdue for a reno and is priced accordingly (I’ve stayed in rooms like this in Santa Cruz that charge triple). Everything is old and run down and cigarette smell lingers through the ac/heating unit. We had a hard time finding parking bc the lot was packed. For what they can control, there was the hair sitting on top of the bathtub drain that didn’t get cleaned. While in the shower, I had to reduce the shower pressure (which was really good!) in order for the water to not back up. The room overall was lacking internal light; like they need to add a lamp and increase wattage on the bulbs. And the key card sleeves are reused. The room number and wifi passcode written in pencil on the tyvek sleeve were faded and somewhat smeared. It’s right off the freeway which made it easy to zip out. Didn’t get a chance to notice the area around the property so can’t rate hotel on that. Would I stay here again (knowing what I know)? No, but for the price, it did the job.

The first room we got, which was the bottom floor had baby roaches, we asked to change rooms they sent us to the opposite side, which was actually catty corner from the first room different building. Mine new. We were right next to the pool which every time we open the door we got sewer roaches. We were so exhausted. We just decided not to unpack anything and just sleep, slept like four hours maybe max the most awful stay and just the four hours that I slept I woke up in a horrible rash. This place was not very clean at all.

There were some pros and cons for us. Pros: large three bedroom with kitchen, living room and balcony. The linens were clean but the towels were old. The location was very good to have dinner in downtown area. We were a family of 6 so had plenty of beds and room. The price was very good. Cons: pretty dated in style, floors kind of sticky, balcony not swept, bath towels pathetic.

This property is fine if you need a place for the night. The furniture in the room is mismatched. The heat lamp in the bathroom did not put out heat. There was 1 thin blanket between two sheets. No bedspread or comforter. When asked for additional blankets I was told there were none and then when I explained what was on the bed, the young man had to come and look, and then 2 additional blankets appeared. The property is old and could definitely use some work. Like I said if you need a place for the night it is adequate.

Front desk could have been more friendlier. Needing was clean but the test of the room could have been better. Also there's not enough parking for all the guests. I had to park on the street and walk.
