This is a cheap motel. It’s clean, it’s safe, the bed king bed was new and clean. There was no dresser or hangers for the rail. There is a fridge TV, clean shower toilet sink. If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay while hiking for a night, it’s great. If you’re fussy, you should look somewhere else.
There are places to eat on a nearby street (5 or 6 restaurants). One was very popular and we couldn’t get in. The Italian was okay/fine.

The room was surprisingly good .
No frills to be sure but when a shower and bed is all you need.. you have it there.
Now , the weird sounds of giant pieces of tin foil being crinkled outside of the window was irritating. AND i drove passed the location thinking “no way !that can’t be the place “ zero curb appeal

Horrible, absolutely horrible. Found a roach in our room, sheets with holes and stains, insufficient towels, used shampoo. The deal breaker for every staying here again was the homeless guests. Our next door neighbor kept many of her possessions outside her room. I cant imagine what it looked like inside. She had at least two cats despite a no pet policy. I would have felt more comfortable sleeping in my car! If the nightly rate would have been half what it was, it still would have been too much for this dump.

Chose this hotel because I was in the area for a concert at Bethel Woods. Wasn’t expecting much - and it was still a horrible massive disappointment. Checked in, showered and never returned after the concert and chose to drive home instead despite getting home at 2 AM after waking up at 3 AM the previous day. Moldy tile, missing baseboards, filthy windows, dirty walls, shady people staying in other rooms and walking around trying to approach you as you went into your room.
The most expensive shower I’ve ever had. Didn’t even ask for a refund or different room.

Was in the area for three shows at Bethel Woods. This motel stuck to the basics, room was good, and it was a great value especially considering the scarcity and high cost of places to stay closer to Bethel Woods. Worth the 45 minute drive to Bethel; staff very kind as well!

If you dont mind sleeping in filth then this is your spot. Disgusting from parking lot to lobby to rooms. Had I not reserved the room in advance I would have left and slept in my car. I waited 15 minutes just for someone to come to the front desk to even start checking me in. Parking is atrocious. Rooms dont classify as clean. Everything is old and run down. The rooms stink of bug spray and mildew which is obviously a sign of them just trying to cover the smell and not fix the problems. The beds suck, the blankets had stains, and there were dead bugs in the room. The only lamp had a burnt out bulb and the air conditioner was a pile of crap that blew luke warm air on cold. I could go on and on about this trash dump. Dont waste your money.

Definitely no frills, but our room eas was clean and spacious. Location eas was a bit noisy, right iff off Rte 209, but an easy walk from Ellenvlle's pleasant downtown.

The check in area was filthy and had a terrible stench. the front doors were so dirty you could not see through them. the check in people were rude. We stayed because we were there for an event and there was no place else to stay within 20 minutes away. the room was no as bad as the rest of the place which is old, falling apart, garbage and cigarette butts in the parking area. this motel needs to be torn down or purchased by a chain that can revive it, as the location is great.

This outdated place really should just be condemned. We were torn on sleeping in the room or our car. Luckily the room provided shelter from the too neighborly neighborhood.
It took us almost 20 min to find a person to check in with. They had roaches. And the qater pipes were all full of air. The beds were minimal and once again. We got way less than we paid for. All the pics are DUPES! And most of the rooms are already accounted for by permanent residents that all had their own piles of belongings stacked in front of their claimed rooms.
The towels were so paper thin that they were actully full of holes. So disappointed. Its not like we could have booked somewhere else. It was a sold out holiday weekend and the closest availability was over 40 min away. Mountain miles and all.

Driving up to the property, I was instantly regretting my choice to stay there. Check in was quick. We decided to check out our room before heading to a function. The two possible crack heads hanging outside their room swayed our decision to leave suitcases in the room while we were away! The room itself had been redone recently…new floors, tiles in bathroom etc. no hand towels or tissues and I failed to find any smoke detector in the room. Bed was metal framed, fairly new mattress but felt like lying on a box spring to sleep. My husband noticed all the windows of this ground floor room were unlocked! I would have never noticed if I was alone. Second night there, loud noises from the couple directly overhead that lasted past midnight…luckily we use ear plugs! For us, one and done.
Almost forgot, when dropping off my key another visitor showed me bites all along his arm that he was reporting to staff, my first thought was bedbugs but after describing it to my husband he said it was a spider bite.

Photo from the outside does not do the rooms justice. Beautifully updated recently with new bed and linens! Would stay there again.

Yes, when I pulled up, I was like you’ve got to be kidding but this is the only game in town so it was like stay here or drive 30 miles. That’s where they gotch ya…. places really rundown otherwise I mean it seemed comfortable. Room was really smelly like they were hiding stuff with Cleaners

Upon pulling in, I was worried about the room condition. However, it had been revitalized. Beautiful shower. All the room needed was a dresser and some artwork on the walls. Some photos of the mountains with fall colors would be easy to do.

The stay was terrible. No inside lock for the door. We had to move the fridge in front of the door. No handicap accommodations. I'm an amputee, and could bathe or shower. Parking lot is so small it takes several back and forth movements to just enter, or leave the lot. Do not stay here at any cost. Freddy Krueger himself would be horrified by a stay here!

The property itself is older but the room was very clean and the bathroom newly remodeled. Bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Conveniently located on the main road through this area.

The Village Motel is a rustic and practical stay that is clearly in the midst of an awkward adolescence. It was a straightforward and well-priced stay for a clean room and a quick night's sleep. We would definitely stay again.
It echos the awkward tensions between the rural mountain-village Ellenville I knew twenty years ago, and this newer, budding town that has your mainstay fast food chains as well as bistros and finer restaurants that are piloting daring farm to table experiences.
Village Motel seems to be making the earnest effort to keep up, and is in the process of making renovations. The staff is soft-spoken and kind. Our room was spotless. Priorities seem to be appropriately placed, as we had everything we needed, while the main office was filled with supply boxes and the outside (as the photos indicate) is very much dated.
Also, while the amenities indicates a fridge upon request (perhaps previously a communal offering in the main office?), we had a mini fridge private to our room, so that may be something to look forward to as renovations continue!
I felt possessed to place this review because i do think some other reviewers have been unfair and have expected something from the Village Motel that it otherwise has not advertised itself as. We had the experience pictured and described in the Expedia brochure. It's appropriately priced for what it promises and subsequently succeeds in delivering.

Very close to the small but fancy downtown of Ellenville NY

The Village Motel is a reasonable deal for the money. The motel itself is run-down, and there are some spots on the stairs and balcony that feel a touch dangerous. Also, the deadbolt on my room didn't work, which was a touch unnerving.
That said, the service was good and the room was spotless. The bed was firm, the water pressure was strong, the AC was outstanding, and the towels were clean. Overall, I'd say it was very basic lodging at a very low price. I won't be staying there again, but I slept well while I was there.

Terrible run down building. Beds were okay and room and bathroom were clean but wouldn’t stay there again.

The motel is well worn on the exterior. The office area needs a lot of work. That said, the room that we stayed in # 43, was newly renovated head to toe and was completely acceptable. Grace the front desk employee, was very pleasant and showed us a couple of rooms to chose from so at least several rooms have been renovated. Ask for one of them and you'll get your money,'s worth. Better rooms than near by motels.

Motel was in disrepair. No smoking but cigarette smoke smell in our room with cigarette burns in blankets and bed.
Smelly bird poop on second floor passage. Tenant/guest must have been evicted from 1 room as their belongings were grouped outside that door for 2 days (chair, clothing, unfinished soda, etc). No plan to return there.

Room is nice and clean, but outside is dusty. Location is convenient.

The outside of the facility looked like it needs some work, but not too bad. I rented 4 rooms with 1 person in each room. The check in went smoothly with a very pleasant receptionist and we were in our room within minutes.
Upon opening the door to my room, I was so surprised to find a room that looked like it was just totally refurbished.
It was spotless clean, and had the look and feel of a room that usually costs 3 to 4 times of what I paid.
Everything worked as intended, endless hot water, very comfortable bed, good TV, bright lighting, and an air conditioner that kept the room chilled with the outside temperatures in the mid-80s and extremely high humidity.
So bottom line, don’t let the old 60s look on the outside scare you away! It appears like it’s a work in progress and they are doing a great job! Rooms could not have been any better!

6.0 / 10.0
Property made me worry, but room was surprisingly clean. Spacious with the bare necessities- bed was on metal frame, and mattress was very hard. No amenities — not even a coffee maker, and nothing offered in the office. No lock on the door other than the doorknob. But like I said, if you need a place to stay ( and this is the only hotel in the area) then it was acceptable.
2.0 / 10.0
Most convenient place for us to stay for our overnight but so disappointing to see three cockroaches in the bathroom upon arrival. Otherwise, the room looked clean but smelled of cockroach spray. Needless to say, we could not stay with the idea of the bugs in our room. Told front desk staff immediately who thankfully gave us our money back. Should have listened to other reviews but many were old so thought past issues had been resolved. But seems not the case. Not a do-again for sure.
