It was clean and everyone was helpful, the only thing their was only stairs and they Had us in the top.. We had to go up and down the stairs, and the surrounding streets were up and down streets to many hills..

Chiado 44 was great. Good location that is quiet at night and within walking distance of all the great recommendations from the front desk.

Gorgeous little boutique hotel. Lovely big room and bathroom. Very friendly and helpful. Fist day lunch recommendation was gorgeous.

Super friendly staff, wonderful location and very clean room. Would stay again if in Lisbon.

Did not know when booking there was no lift we were on the 4th floor .
The staff were very good taking our heavy suitcases up and bringing them down.
We were only staying one night and climbed all the steps at the end of our day and came down once the next morning.
Staff very helpful.

Overall Chiado 44 was a great place to stay in Lisbon, but there were a couple of things that held me back from rating it 5 stars.
Pros:
- The staff were excellent! Monica, Catarina and the others were very helpful and always greeted us with a smile. Frankly their performance is why I rated this hotel higher than 3 stars.
- The location is great - a 5 minute walk from great restaurants, and 10 minutes from shopping and the waterfront (including the Time Out Market, the best food court I've ever seen). The hotel is on a quiet street so noise is not an issue. Just be aware that walking anywhere is going to involve hills but there is a funicular very close by :-)
- The hotel is quaint - rooms are small (at least ours was) but comfortable and the bathroom was nice.
Cons:
- There was a light but pervasive smell of drains inside our room (mostly the bathroom) as well as the immediate street. This may be a bigger issue for the hotel to solve and it may not affect all rooms but some active deodorizing might help.
- The view from room 102 was an old courtyard that had some old racking in it, quite different from what the photos on Expedia would lead you to believe. If you want a view ask for another room, although the advantage of it was there were only 4 flights of stairs to get to it (as mentioned in other reviews there are a lot of stairs to get to higher floors and no elevator, although there is a lot of charm with this layout).

It is a delightful boutique hotel in a young and bubbily part of town. The staff is warm and helpful. The rooms are quaint and clean. I recommend it!

Ideally located, friendly staff

Spacious newly designed rooms with a nice bathroom. But no lobby, no breakfast, no coffee, no lift.

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Great staff and the room was very clean and comfortable. Perfect location in Chiado.

Very welcoming and friendly reception team. A lovely room on top floor, lots of character and very clean.
A lock on the bathroom door would have been useful as door didn’t close without one. Shower height is very low but plenty of hot water.

The staff, especially Isabella, the manager is what sets this place apart. Customer service is above and beyond. From the time I booked the hotel, they sent a message to welcome me, asked me how I want the bed arranged, since there’s 3 of us in the room. She offered a shuttle service for a fee of $35 each way from the airport to the hotel. This is a much appreciated convenience. The only thing is that there is no elevator which made it harder for my 70 year old husband to climb the 7th floor. The staff however, carries your luggage up to your room and back down to lobby when you check-out. This was greatly appreciated. The hotel itself is a gem! It is centrally located and walking distance to must-see places. I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely boutique hotel experience.

Front staff was very helpful and friendly. I dropped my bags off before check in and they brought them to my room for me.The room was bright and airy. Only downside is it’s a lot of stairs: if you need assistance I would suggest requesting a lower floor. Location was great; close to all.

I seemed to have a completely different reception at this hotel than those who came before me. My first interaction with this hotel came from a data breach forcing me to cancel my credit card while in the airport on my way to Lisbon. Given this inconvenience, you'd think they'd step up the customer service. But no. I have never been received at a hotel as terribly as I was here. The woman behind the desk just looked at me when I came in, and said nothing until I introduced myself. Without cracking a smile, issuing a "welcome" or in any way dispelling my sense that I was an annoying interruption to her internet time she declared our rooms weren't ready. I then had to ask when they would be ready--like a game she was playing to only reveal the bare minimum during any single utterance. We asked to use the bathroom and were sent up the dark, dirty dingy hallway. It was at that point I decided to leave. I had read the hallways were awful but it sounded like the friendly staff more than made up for that. I go with my instincts sometimes and everything told me I did not want to stay in this place. Never saw the rooms but I cannot think they made up for the scary tenement hallway vibe and the surly desk clerk.

The staff has just been amazing. I see why this is a highly rated and sought after property. Love the room and the views too. Amazing.

Perfect support from the Chiado 44 team via email and WhatsApp before, during and after our stay. Very helpful with recommendations or helping hand with restaurant reservations. Overall an exceptional service with an A rating. The room is nice and cozy, the bathroom in perfect condition. The building is old but everything is in perfect condition. The rooms start from the 2nd floor to the 5th floor, no elevator so a bit sporty to get the best views. The location of the guest house is perfect, so everything can be reached within 2 to 5 minutes on foot. E-tram, Metro, bus, bakery, breakfast, lunch or dinner options. The nearest place “Praca de Luis de Camoes” is also just a 1-minute walk away. Perfect spot to stay!

We had a wonderful 1 night stay. From check in Sarah was so lovely. Her restaurant and activities recommendations was just perfect for me and my husband. The room was so beautiful on the 5th floor with a small balcony overlooking Tagus river. Spotless and well organised. Both were so happy for our little treat waiting in our room for a surprise the delicious Pastel de Nata and a little greeting note. Our luggage was already there too. I would highly recommend this hotel location wise very convenient lots of restaurants shopping music and etc. Sarah also arranged us a taxi to the airport cost 35 euros. It was truly a memorable experienced for our wedding anniversary getaway. Thank you Chiado 44. We will surely be back!!!😊

Very nice, quiet property in the heart of Lisbon. Walking distance to Rossio train station and many parts of the city. Technically in Chiado, but very near the Bairro Alro neighborhood and its restaurants and bars.
The staff was wonderful, the location was amazing, and our experience was very positive.
There is a school nearby, so expect some daytime noise in small increments on weekdays. Otherwise very quiet and lovely.

Thank you for a great stay and being so friendly and helpful.

Great location and great staff.

The staff here went SO above and beyond to assist me! This truly felt more as though I was staying with family rather than a hotel. I felt very at home, and taken care of.
4.5
Friendly and helpful staff. We were on the top floor and they were nice enough to bring our suitcases up. Made good suggestions on places to eat and someone at the front desk 24/7. Room nice and we did have a view of the river. Would stay here again

Great location; super friendly, knowledgeable & helpful staff (Isabel, Sara, Bianca, Alex, Caterina); clean & well maintained (but note: it's a very old, historic building & doesn't have a restaurant in it or a common area or elevator or other amenities); & room 101 & its bathroom are large and located on the second floor (so not a crazy # of steps!)(& staff will bring your luggage up). We hope to stay there again someday, and highly recommend it!
4.5
Amazing place to stay, the staff is unbelievably kind and so helpful, the place is so freaking cute, the beds are comfy, it feels like home. I fell in lovr with the place and the views. I highly recommend it.
4.5
Great location, very clean/modern, lovely staff/hosts. Rooms quite small for cost but still good value for location in the heart of Chiado. Would definitely stay there again.

24 hour staff at front desk. Trolley stop at bottom of hill.

We loved this property due to location, amenities, and particularly the staff! They were helpful, fun, and so knowledgeable!

There is so much to like about this hotel—but the staff is what makes it stand out—especially Bianca. I can say enough about how much she did PRIOR to my arrival (including booking me a car to the hotel and trying to schedule a tour) to helping my get get train tickets to my next destination. She was extraordinary. In addition, I could not yet check in when I arrived but I left my bags and they were in my room when I got in. The location is perfect. Close to public transportation, centrally located, so much within a reasonable walk and even more if you consider walking part of what an adventure to a new city includes. The room itself is fine. It’s very clean. The bed is very comfortable. I saw a review that described it as no frills and that is correct. There is not one thing in the room beyond what is necessary. The balcony was wide enough for a small table and two chairs. I didn’t feel comfortable sitting out there so I brought the chair in and opened the windows. If you plan to use the room primarily to sleep and shower—it’s perfect. As others have noted, there is no lift so consider that it you book here—I was on the third floor. It was fine but noteworthy. Again, thanks to Bianca and the staff for making my stay so pleasant.

The staff at Chiado44 were exceptional! Helpful suggestions for dining and they actually carried our luggage up the stairs. A wonderful location to see the sites of the old city.
4.5
The staff was so friendly and helpful! The rooms are very clean and there are so many good places to eat around the area. I would say the only bad thing is there is no elevator, so make sure you are not exhausted when when you come back!
4.5
Staff were amazingly thoughtful. Dropped my luggage off in the morn and they had taken it up 3 flights of stairs for me and it was in the room when I arrived. Clean room with a nice bed and a small balcony. I would recommend chiado 44.
4.5
This property was an interesting one. Steep hill and hotel had steep steps (no lift). When you get over that, the no frills room has a comfy bed and is in a centrally located area with tons of restaurants and shopping. It was cute but idk if I would stay here.
