I checked in and decided not stay as room was not one of the best. Pub looked good. Need to spend money in future for a better hotel. Nothing really wrong with room etc but was hoping for more. Live and learn you get what you pay for

The Old Peculiar offers excellent, comfortable room-only facilities, breakfast not being available.
This suited our purpose for a family visit, & the atmosphere & evening meals are worthy of note.

The room was very noisy and the room had not be cleaned during my 3 night stay , had to leave early because of a family problem and had to pay full amount i.e 4 nights.
No breakfast available is not a good decision.
I have used this property for almost 18 months and in my view I would not use it again sadly.

A wonderful stay at this lovely pub. We were visiting the National Memorial Aboretum and being only 7 miles away it was ideally situated and my choice was based on this factor and the previous great reviews.
The welcome was warm, the people are superb, the food is outstanding and the rooms are clean and functional. If there is one (very) minor criticism it is that I found the bed a little soft and the quilt a little small. Having said that, I recognise these observations reflect personal preferences rather than any failing of the place itself.
We will stay here again when we are in the area. Well done to everyone involved and thank you for making our visit so pleasant.

Very friendly and helpful staff, very quick to attend to any requests we made. Room was very clean and spacious for us a couple. Food in the bar at night and the included breakfast were both excellent.

Basic room but very welcoming staff. Breakfast was superb. Nice bathroom too. Good value overall.

Lovely village pub in a village that has become part of larger conurbation. Friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast.
Rooms are out the back. Clean and well presented. Only gripe... thin walls... TV noise from room next door.

A friendly welcome, and the staff were always keen to help. The family room set-up was great, and the 5 of us were very comfortable there.
Breakfast was well presented and very tasty. All in all, tremendous value for money. I highly recommend it!

Great value for money and the fried breakfast is amazing! Good friendly service too. Rooms a little dated but overall clean and tidy with all the amenities you need for a short stay especially considering the price.
Only negative, a hair in bed and the shower mat wasn’t so clean (more hairs) which was hung on a towel rail right by the sink which wasn’t very pleasant! :-(
However would recommend overall!

Stayed here for a visit to the National Arboretum, which was about 15 mins drive away. Good location in a quiet village, rooms are in a separate annex close to the pub and very comfortable and clean. Good breakfast and we liked the pub, good atmosphere and choice of beers etc. Would stay again definitely

The inn was very welcoming. Nice pub, pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Good beer, nice wines and good food. The rooms were clean - not huge but had everything you needed. We stayed two nights; the rooms weren’t serviced in between which made sense to me but my sister-in-law would have liked her coffee and milk replenished. Check-in was late at 5:30pm and check-out was early at 10:00am but we knew so planned accordingly. It was a good base from which to explore the area. We arrived on Tuesday and had seen ahead that they don’t do food on Tuesday evenings but there’s another pub a few minutes walk away that does so again no problem. We ate in the Olde Peculier on the Wednesday evening and it was very good. By the way, and quite importantly, the rooms were nice and quiet as they are separate from the pub itself.

A typical British pub with a warm welcome. The shower did not work but was repaired the same day. The food was very good and breakfast pleasant. The "Old Peculiar" beer is worth trying.
