This is a great place for a solo traveler. Also great for couples. I met people from all over the world and everyone was very social. The place was great and Lucia and Dani were very nice from check in to check out. They will hold your bags if you arrive before check in. That was very nice!

Well cared for property and is a great
party destination for young people. The hostel has uplifting atmosphere, positive vibes, offers a lot of free activities. guests are nice, good diversity mixed, great location. I highly recommend this hostel and I am planning to go back to Cabo and I will definitely will stay at Mayan Monkey hostel again. I had a great experience and I enjoyed my stay!

Surprised by friendliness of staff and convenient locations. Had a nice private room with view of the marina for a great price.

Too much music at night and morning. We couldnt even sleep early cux of the music. And when we stayed up late, we were horrified waking up to loud music. I would of never booked here if i knew we were gonna be on top of a bar. Senor Frogs at theblesst worse cases.

Property was pretty unique I appreciated the vibe and staff was friendly. I did however book I higher end room I believe the most expensive with marina view. Upon booking I was informed the room I booked was having some sort of issue which I interpreted as they over booked either purposely or accidentally. Regardless I was offering a room that was “bigger” but also half the price of the one I originally booked one that basically had a view of every person walking by. The offered me free breakfast in the morning as a consolation but no partial refund or anything further aside from a couple margaritas. All in all this was a pretty big breakdown for me. Unfortunately I wouldn’t risk booking here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mayan monkey! Fun themed evenings, really large private room, and close to the marina. It is on the other end of the marina so I would maybe not have loved walking home alone at night but with someone else it was not a problem. Would return!

Would definitely recommend, I’ll come back again. Super close to the marina, markets and a close by mall. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the views and vibes are amazing, food is ok, the hostel bathrooms could use more servicing/maintenance. Other than that it was a lovely experience for sure!

NO COMMUNICATION.. EXTRA TAXES AT CHECK IN. NO PARKING 40 US DOLLARS A DAY AND U HAVE TO PULL YOUR LUGGAGE. DID NOT TELL US THERE WAS AN ELEVATOR. SO DRAGGED BAGES UP 3 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS. THEY JUST NEED TO COMMUNICATE BETTER

I booked this accommodation about 5 minutes before I turned up, so didn't know what to expect. It is down town, right on the marina, and occupies the top floor of a small shopping complex with bars. It was quite noisy when I arrived, but in the dorms, totally quiet. At it was the music in the local bars stopped at 7pm anyway.
Clean rooms, good food, nice bar. Really glad I booked in here as it was close to the dive school I was using too.

We had a blast. We were probably the oldest people by 2 decades, but still felt comfortable and welcome. We stayed there for 2 nights to acclimate to travel and chill after a couple of very short sleeps. The food and drinks were delicious, the location beautiful, and the staff so helpful and fun.

The rooms were great, breakfast was delicious, and beds were comfy. Highly recommend

I called hotel to cancel reservation day before due to my father falling ill and receptionist stated I needed to contact booking agency. I contacted agency and i was informed hotel would contact me through email since expedia’s attempts to converse over the phone failed.

Even more social and fun than advertised. Very secure and safe. Group activities and location made getting out in Cabo very easy. Hikes, classes, karaoke, all great. Waitstaff was attentive, relatable, and engaging, especially Cesar and Alex.
Food was a standout too. Huitlacoche tacos were the vegan all day available option.
Met amazing people and enjoyed the outfoing and safe environment. The reviewers complaining about music late into the night stayed in the wrong place. Also, everything is shut down and church quiet by 1 am.
If traveling solo or with a small extroverted group, stay at Mayan Monkey. Experience of a lifetime.

Our room was identified as a "Premium Double Room, 1 Queen Bed, Balcony, Marina View
10/10 Exceptional" The room is not premium or exceptional! I felt we were scammed. We will not return or recommend it. The balcony comfortably seats only one person. With several nearby bars blaring loud pulsating music, it was not restful or relaxing. We had to ask for nightstand lamps (only received one). The open clothes rack system is too small for 2 people. Only one luggage rack. We asked for another luggage rack; but, didn’t receive it. There is no chair or table/desk in the room. We asked for a small table and chair; but never received it. Plus side: Room cleaning was very good. Marina view was pretty.

Expensive for a hostel (total $1290CAD, 5 nights, private room for 2).
My partner & I make a very modest living, and with our set of accessibility needs, Mayan Monkey had the best available private rooms on Expedia ($127/night). The staff were exceptionally friendly, sweet, and attentive. However, for the price we ended up paying, we regretfully could’ve booked one of more luxurious hotels across the street. We’re CDN, so we’ll convert MXN to CAD w/ today’s forEx rates. Exclu. tips, 5 nights came to ~$1290 CAD or $258/night (incl taxes, hotel fees, daily breakfast for 2ppl, and *this wild cleaning fee*). They charged us $90 ($67 USD) for maybe 6 or 7 tiny dots of juice on the bedsheets. These “stains” were most definitely a small enough job for our Tide-to-Go stick, so we were shocked and deeply disappointed when they held us back about this. If we weren’t rushing to the airport, I would’ve spent at most 10 mins “Tide-sticking” these droplets away myself. We paid it of course, despite feeling scammed. They were so nice to us :( Before departing, we could’ve tipped their kitchen/bar staff (not just cleaning staff) on our way out with that cash.
If you’re seeking a more peaceful/relaxed vacation, maybe rethink Mayan Monkey. This is a pool club hostel, so House/EDM’s on full blast until 1am (which could be great if that’s what you’re looking for!). You can feel the bass in the walls of the room.

I enjoyed my stay here for the price. Met a lot of incredible individuals and had no immediate problems with the hostel. I had a problem with just a few things. The shower could have been cleaner and the bathroom is HOT. You will be sweating from just taking a quick tinkle. I would recommend shower shoes. This has less to do with the Mayan Monkey but the location of the hostel is sketchy. There are people trying to sell you something as soon as you get out of your shuttle. The marina is nice but it's filled with salesmen, again. The location is another pro. This hostel is right in between everything and usually in walking distance of most excursion shuttles or boats. Overall 7/10 experience. Can't beat the price.

The stay was cozy and the staff was friendly until the check out. The maid was called to the front desk and she had my sheets and towels in her hand and decided to show they to everyone in the lobby and charge for me using the towel to wash my face and because it had makeup on it. Completely unprofessional and rude. Never had that happen before when all they needed to say upon check in that they would charge for the towel. Completely unnecessary and strange. I'll never be back.

I booked a Premium Double Room, Queen Bed, Balcony, Marina View for a week, and it was a fabulous. Daily cleaning service made my room perfect every afternoon/evening I returned from my daily excursions into Cabo San Lucas. My room was directly above Señor Frogs, which was not a problem for me because I was out and about during the lunch/dinner times when they’re blasting their crappy music. If you need an afternoon nap, the premium double is not for you. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. There’s a bar and restaurant on the property and it’s a nice convenience. The location is killer. I was able to walk anywhere. I would return definitely.

The place was super clean, well organized, and affordable. The large staff was genuinely gracious and kind, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was ample, the full menu was pretty varied and the bar open long hours. I loved the fresh ginger, celery, carrot, orange drink they will blend up for you. Many activities were offered for free, including a fun salsa class. There are several beaches nearby. There is a modern co-working room with outlets for computers and super comfortable office chairs and nice lighting at each seat. The women's dorm was quite nice, although everyone agreed the bed pillows were too thick. I was traveling solo and met a number of really wonderful people. The only downside for me was the many hours of loud often electronic music from mid to late afternoon until past midnight, making it impossible to enjoy a meal, a quiet conversation or really relax in the dining or pool area or around the bar during those hours. It was just too much and too loud. The dorms are somewhat insulated from the noise but not entirely. i took refuge at an excellent nearby restaurant.

We stayed here for a last minute weekend trip. We reserved room 113 with a marina view. It was decorated super cute and the shower pressure was amazing. The location was perfect as it was minutes away from beaches and boat taxis/cruises. The facilities were amazingly clean and the bar and pool were a plus. We will visit again.

Stay for two weeks. My first time at a hotel. This place is set up and run very very well. They care about the guest experience. Daily activities to partake in. The breakfast option was very good with several options to choose. Location is right on Marina with a beach within 5 minute walk. So much to see and do in the area, all within walking distance. Would definitely recommend. Great deal for the price.
