Owner is very welcoming. Hotel very authentic Cuban vibe. Location sublime.

Pleasant stay. Building was clean, quiet and staff was just wonderful. The family taking care of the place was warm and friendly. Havana is generally a safe city but they still had a security guard at the entrance overnight which is comforting as a solo traveler. Location was also in the heart of Old Havana making it a bit easier to get to my favorite places.

Excellent location in Old Havana, very good service and excellent room. In the heart of Old Havana, right next to an excellent restaurant, the location couldn't be better, it is very safe, clean with very service and breakfast. Over all a very good experience

This accommodation is not for people who want to be quiet, it is more busy

It was not a nice place, there is no reception and no good staff who could help me with proper check in/out and other questions, it is not a hotel and I didn’t feel comfortable there. My room door was not properly closing and although I informed the owner they did not care insted of only saying it was an old door. The property was very loud in the night and early morning so it was impossible to have a proper sleep :( hotel staff does not know English and their attitude was not very nice. Even the last day i got locked outside the hotel (the entrance door is always locked) and they cut the internet although I asked them to keep it until my taxi arrives, it was a very bad experience.
I had to stay there 4 nights and I regreted it. I don’t recommend it at all.

Very low-pressure, I barely saw the staff or anyone else, but I knew where to find them. The aesthetics are pretty, and the location is perfect. Safe, with a security guard at nights. No free wifi, but I knew that when I was booking. Also the room did not have any natural light, so if you like to wake up from the sun, choose a room with windows

very good accommodation, legal and attentive team. large room. air conditioning cools well. The only point that I found faulty was the wifi, we had to ask for access and they unlocked the wifi password request and we were able to connect but they said it was only for an hour because the wifi was sold by them with access cards but they were without the cards for sell... I asked again after that 1 hour they released me for another 30 minutes, and the next day another 30 minutes... I think the only bad point would be that wifi is not available like in other hotels and it's kind of annoying having to stay asking for access and appearing to be a favor. The owner of the accommodation is a very good and lively person. the breakfast is good, fresh food made to order and tasty

Room with plenty of space, bathroom as well. Internet- you need to ask the person in charge for the day to share their hot spot

Staff was quite nice, air con was working bit balcony was above restaurant and there was constant smell of fried food, disgusting. In the bathroom there was NO PRESSURE in the shower! Awful. We had room on 2nd floor for few hours to shower before flight home. Do not stay here.

We stayed here for a week with my friend, first time in Cuba and we loved it. It’s located in the center of Old Havana and we walked everywhere. Cosi, the woman in charge, greeted us as soon as we arrived and from there on she was there for us on every aspect of our trip. Manuel was also fantastic, helped us with taxis and recommendations on where to go and helped us saved money as we have never been to Cuba before and we were not familiar how things worked. Breakfast was excellent, they served us so much food that we felt bad when we couldn’t finished it. The hotel was clean and felt like home. We left Cuba on Monday and our heart was heavy. We wouldn’t had have the experience we had if it wasn’t for Cosi and Manuel. I feel we became part of a family now.
I highly recommend this property, you will not be disappointed

Good location.
Practically no communication with the agebt/owner/anyone working there.
I’ve sent them texts via Whatsup, i’ve contacted them through Expedia, received NO reply back at all.
Property is as discribed.
No one cleaned the room for entire duration of the stay. Same goes with changing towels/toilet paper.
Water pressure in shower very weak.
Very loud at night. Like VERY loud. I understand that it goes with any place in old Havana during the night, so no particular fault if the place, but be prepared to have very loud music and screaming all night long.

What a gem hidden in Old Havana. From the moment we arrived to be greeted by the wonderful Jorge to the moment we left to be waved off by Jose-Luis, our experience at Hostal el San Juan was wonderful. Breakfast on the roof terrace was a particular highlight (even in the rain under the canopy). Another highlight was sitting in the communal area in the evening with a glass of wine listening to the world go by outside. The staff could not do enough for us. The choice at breakfast was really good and cooked on the spot once you had placed your order. The property has been beautifully restored with such attention to detail. We would recommend Hostal el San Juan and the incomparable staff to anyone. We will return.

Hello. What kind of security guard do you have? I booked for my two daughters; Two young girls locked themselves in the room and were afraid to come out. He behaved inappropriately. I'm angry and upset. I booked a hotel in the center of old Havana for them to walk around Havana. They were afraid to go out.

The host is nice, just the Wi-Fi was down during our stay, windows cannot block the sounds from the street, so a bit noisy.

My family had an EXCELLENT experience at the Hostal San Juan San Juan de Dios 67 Havana
and so I have taken some time to post this review. The owner of the Hotel Phillipe is a Canadian/Cuban. He and his lovely wife have restored the family-run hotel to
a beautiful condition with 4-5 meter ceilings and gorgeous tile floors with elegant woodwork and
furniture. The hotel is located right at the edge of old town and is walking distance from most of
the attractions in Havana. Phillipe and his family took excellent care of us changing funds at a
great rate, obtaining tickets to the best entertainment, booking reservations at the fine nearby
restaurants and arranging drivers or guides to take us around town or to nearby beaches for
wonderful snorkelling on pristine beaches with coral reefs while a private driver watched over
us. The family are impeccable hosts who have lived in Cuba for more than 15 years and know
all the do and don’ts, ins and outs, of traveling in Cuba. You are in excellent hands in Phillipe’s
hotel. Old Havana is a strikingly beautiful and safe place to visit, and you can see why it was the
jewel in the Spanish Empire’s crown and the most elegant and important city in the Western
Hemisphere in its glory days captured forever in the striking architecture of the old town.

We had a truly lovely stay at Hostal el San Juan. From the moment we arrived, we enjoyed every bit of the character of this place. Philippe our host was kind and generous and patiently gave a lot of really cool advice on things to do around La Habana and went out of his way to make things really grand for us: right from arranging rides to and from the airport as well as snorkeling plces nearby. The staff were also super kind and so fun to talk to. I'd like to give this place my highest possible recommendation!

Loved this quaint early 1900's building w high ceilings, deco furnishings and great Cuban art. Comfortable bedding and lovely
reasonable breakfast food and good coffee on the great rooftop patio. Phillipe the host owner and staff were great. An awesome Old Havana location. I will highly recommend it to friends and family traveling to Havana - Cheers - Michael from Toronto, Canada.

The Hotel San Juan de Dios was almost perfect for me. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the wifi was strong most of the time. Very colonial with high vaulted ceilings, and it looks like it was there when the pirates used to invade the port of Havana. Very rustic in a very good way. Convenient to everything else in Old Havana. The owner spoke excellent English and was very friendly and accommodating.
The only negative thing I experienced was the little "Igor-like" assistant, who was very rude and didn't like Americans. This little bald-headed guy kept stalking me for money which I didn't owe him (which was later rectified on his part) - but his mafia-like tactics were unnecessary). Then he kept bugging me for the room key when it was only 6:15 in the morning. And finally, when I left later that morning, I said 'adios" and he said nothing at all. Very unfriendly.
But aside from that little man, everything else was perfect - the rest of the staff, the owner, the view outside my window, everything.

The rooms were very nice and clean, unfortunately they clean our room only one day the rest of the days we didnt have a service at all. They advertising wifi connection, but there is no connection whatsoever. Staff wasnt very helpful as nobody speak even 1 word in english. I didnt expect a lot anyway but everywhere else i didnt have a problem to communicate in simple english with them. Breakfast was nice first day and second day we get not even half of it . On third day we went to the restaurant where it was even cheaper and nice tasty portion. On the begging they gave us nice room with balcony and when i was about to takr shower, lady knock on our door and said thats not our room we need to go to another one. We went there and it was horrible no windows and much smaller. I think for the price we paid we should have nice big double room with balcony and breakfast including. We have to pay extra 5 pounds for breakfast every day per person. Only good thing was a spot, as location was perfect for us to reach everything easily.
