Great view, everything is new, spacious rooms. Beds are slightly hard, but everything else was fabulous! Short distance to the beach and restaurants/activities. Pool and hot tub were great too.

This hotel is incredible. Some highlights were the balcony with ocean view and the most perfect sliding door/window combo to let in the ocean breeze and hear the waves, thoughtful goodie basket filled with local snacks, high end Keurig that also does iced along with Sleepy Monk pods (plus great coffee and tea options in the lobby 24-7), gorgeous hot tub and sauna with a pool in a separate room which is great in case there are rowdy kids in the pool and you want your own space (but they were both empty when we went), ability to watch cable or streaming, wonderful location, beautiful modern bathroom... I could go on and on. Plus all the staff we interacted with were super friendly. Can't wait to go back!

We are loving our stay at the Whaler. It’s fresh and clean. The pool, hot tub and sauna are amazing! The staff is friendly. Also, the little treats and coffee/tea station are stocked with top notch, Oregon-made items. Lastly, the view! It’s what you come here for.

This is a refurbished older hotel and they have done a really nice job with the style. Doors to the outside are the same which makes them a little noisy to the outside with people walking. Great location right across from the beach. We had a glorious view! The beds are comfortable too. Only complaint is the lighting in the bathroom above the sink is very dim.

Wow. The Whaler has stepped their game up. Top to bottom remodel. The staff was super friendly. The one lady even gave us some water and salt water taffy at checkout for our drive back. Great location across the street from the beach. Walking distance to the harbor and NYE beach. Wish we stayed longer. Will be back for sure

WE RESERVED A ROOM WITH A BATHTUB BUT WE GOT ONE WITH ONLY SHOWER. 1ST. NIGHT WAS AWEFUL BECAUSE SOME ONE WAS HAVING A HUGE AND LOUD PARTY 2 FLOORS BELOW US STARTED AROUND 10PM TILL 4AM IN THE MORNING . CALLED THE FRONT DESK TO REPORT AND COMPLAIN . I.M NOT EVEN SURE IF THE HOTEL EMPLOYEE CALLED THEM,TALKED TO THEM. IN MY OPINION THEY SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE POLICE BECAUSE THIS KIND BEHAVEYOUR ARE NOT ACCEPTIBLE IN A VACATION SPOT AND HOTEL.

We had a great stay at the Whaler. We received a message that there was construction going on that might be a bit noisy, I appreciated that but it didn’t bother us at all. The staff was wonderful and so helpful and friendly. We loved the basket of Oregon snacks and bottles of water that were placed in our room, exceptional! Can’t wait to go back!

This hotel and the staff were amazing. My husband and I had just left a hotel that was so horrible we honestly just wanted to call it a day and go home until we got to this hotel. We both instantly fell in love. We were doing a trip up the coast and this was supposed to be our second stop but after seeing how nice the room was and how great the staff was we decided to stay the rest of our vacation. The staff was very nice and extended our stay, on a holiday weekend, at the cost we were originally paying. I can go on and on about how amazing this hotel is but what I will say is, I will ONLY stay at this hotel when I go to Newport!

i went to the office to find out where i could smoke on the property! night clerk was very disrespectful! i was told as a smoker i would have to go out to the road to have a smoke !Later that evening i did that and she came out of her office and told me to move over to the next road as there was a food truck in the parking lot and i needed to move down the block away from the propane ! Note !this was 11:00 at night ! food truck was there to serve breakfast sandwiches ! no propane tanks were on ! The requested location. was across the street on a public road ! i felt extremely vulnerable with the foot traffic in the area!

This property is under major construction and eventually will be a beautiful place to stay. I was told it was being renovated and believed it was on the ocean. It is not and there is a street with houses that obstructs the ocean view from the 1st floor where we had to be due to traveling with our dogs. Probably has a better view of ocean from 2nd and 3rd floors. Due to this, we were placed at their sister property the Hallmark just down the street which is ocean front and views of ocean from 1st floor. Our stay there was great - even had nice area for the dogs. (The Whaler did not have area for the dogs however maybe they will once it is completed.) Because of this fact, we will more than likely stay again at the Hallmark.
