Hotel itself is lovely and nice facility. Staff however need significant improvements. Staff speak very limited English and are not very friendly nor helpful. Bus service is a terrible as they don’t follow the timetable and only limited to 9 ( but was not communicated) so bus leaves when it is full even though the reception staff said no booking required and just show up a couple of mins earlier. Very disappointed with this hotel and will not recommend it.

Truly one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in. Should be rated five stars. The facilities were elegant and spotless. The onsen was large and clean with two private baths which could be used on a first come first served basis. The hotel offered a lot of freebies such as popsicles, non alcoholic drinks, and even late night ramen. We had two meals included in the price, a dinner and a breakfast the next morning. The meals were elaborate and beautifully presented. A quick shout out to our waitress from Taiwan, Judy who provided impeccable service.

Amazing hotel. Relatively new so everything was fresh and clean. Quiet location. Traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious. Hot spring baths were wonderful. Comfortable beds and spacious room. Part of Dormy Inn group as they had complimentary Yakult and coffee which was a bonus.

Nice Bath

The best accommodations I’ve had in Japan. Comfortable, luxurious bedrooms, excellent meals every day, and fantastic service. Beautiful location too.
4.7
Great room with traditional vibes and good views, they had shuttle bus to shirakawa-go. It was a lot of breakfast and it was interesting. And the onsen was super cozy with an outdoor area and it was clean. Overall no complaints at all.
4.7
I highly recommend their breakfast. It was a harmonious experience with local food and ambience using all of our five senses.
Beautiful place, friendly staff and relaxing hot springs!!! ❤️
4.7
Staff take great care of you. Definitely do the onsite dinner and breakfast, not just because they are excellent, but also because there are almost no other restaurants for dinner in the area.
4.7
you should rent bikes if you don’t provide shuttle after 12

Very clean and a great place for families to get away.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Beware of Misleading Photos and Restaurant Fully Booked.
I regret to say that my recent stay at this hotel was a massive letdown. Despite the many photos of the village in the listing, this hotel is not in the village. The hotel is located nearly a 25-minute walk from the historic village, but the photos misleadingly suggest it's part of the scenic village.
Adding to the frustration, the hotel operates a restaurant which, unbeknownst to us until arrival, requires prior reservations for dining. As newcomers unaware of this policy, we were turned away both for dinner and breakfast. This policy is unreasonable and inhospitable, especially considering the lack of any alternative dining options within a 15-minute walk and the absence of taxis in the town.
The lack of basic hospitality and the sheer disregard for my family’s need to eat was a first for me in many years of travel. It felt like the hotel prioritizes extracting every penny from tourists rather than providing a successful stay. For a place that could capitalize on its potential in a beautiful setting like Shirakawago, it sadly chooses instead to disappoint and disillusion its guests. I would strongly advise potential visitors to consider other accommodations that value their guests and understand the essence of hospitality.

Beautiful hot springs, with nice rooms and kept us well fed. We loved the provided lounge wear and was a great experience on our trip.

It’s snowing when we’re here. The view from the room was picture perfect - snow-covered mountain, trees, and stream bank. The hotel is super clean and comfortable. All amenities are available. The room is spacious for two. The private onsen is good. The late night ramen was very good. The Japanese breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The shuttle service between the hotel and Shirakawago bus station is available and convenient. We would love to stay again.

The amenities

Comfortable stay. Room was clean and well appointed. Though tatami mats were not real. Overall Ryokon feel but more scaled down, but stylish ways. For example, people are asked to walk with socks or no socks within the properties without slippers. Flower arrangements were fake plastic. Dining was in the restaurant rather than in the room. Food was plenty and aesthetically beautiful and was well thought out. Some were repetitive ( I stayed 2 nights). Bath was not spacious but had varied bath and enjoyable. liked it over all.
4.7
There were no option for dinner in the hotel or around the area. It was pouring outside and there were no transportation to go to the only opened restaurant that was a half hour walk, in the snow and rain. The only options for late night food were noodles, but they were cooked in shrimp and my husband is terribly allergic to shellfish. Even the cup noodles we bought at their convenience store had shrimp, so we didn’t eat from the time we arrived in the late afternoon until the next day when the restaurants opened at 11am.

just a 5min drive (2.1km) from Shirakawago.
The whole hotel is tatami mat and guests are requires to lock their shoes in the lockers upon entering. Hence, the compound is very clean.
The room big and spacious.
Highly recommend booking the dinner as it’s really value for money.
There’s a public onsen as well as 2 private ones a which can be used on first come first served basis
4.7
The onsen is outstanding, it provided several kinds of hotspring facilities with panoramic view to river and mountain.
Both dinner and breakfast are very tasty in Japanese style.
It will be good to provide pick up service from Shiragawago Bus Centre, otherwise customer need to walk 20 minutes which is difficult, especially in rain or snow.

After our long trek from Hakone, it was great to be able to be treated to keiseki and soak in the private onsen. Both my children and I enjoyed the beauty of the place, the cleanliness, and general feel of comfort. It was a treat to receive a free upgrade to a river view family room too! The downsides are that the aircon in the room seems to have been preset and we couldn’t lower the temperature even though we found it too warm. Also, although most staff were friendly and polite, some were rather standoffish which kinda makes the experience slightly less than five stars. My children were looking forward to the free yakult which we had read about online but sadly, only managed to get one for the 3 of us. There is some room for improvement given the price tag for this establishment.

A wonderful place to rest!

Clean and new rims, good facilities in Japanese style
4.7
Relatively new and immaculately maintained. The onsen is fabulous.
4.7
Staff of dinner restaurant were so busy that it took long time to get drinks delivered.
4.7
Great Onsen On site. Very much the traditional Japanese experience. Staff was friendly enough and the rooms and property very well kept and clean.
4.7
This was an amazing stay! From the food, to the spa, to the hotel-provided traditional outfits, we had an amazing time.
4.7
New and modern while maintaining the traditional Japanese ambience.
4.7
Definitely the most Japanese of the hotels I've been on during my trip. Just wish the public bath didn't have the no tattoo rule.

Excellent

The whole indoor area is on tatami ,first thing before you check in you have to put your shoes into the lockers at the entrance.
Booking via Expedia did not allow an option to book with the meal, big problem as there's no restaurant that open for dinner near by. You can still buy the dinner tickets when you check in but they could be fully booked.
There are two individual "private" Onsen rooms, they are occupied most the time, and to my surprise, there are no shower in those rooms. Which means you are supposed to shower in your own room before you go downstairs into the private Onsen. I have seen tourist going into the Onsen directly after finish eating from across the hall. I can imagine no one shower before going into the Onsen. I didn't see any notice telling tourists to shower in their room before using the private Onsen room.

Clean and nice staff. Little overated... wanted to buy breakfast at the hotel as we forgot to book and paid for it online. The staff said it was not possible as they have no ingredient even we asked for it while checking in around 2PM. Disappointing...
4.7
Hotel and around facilities were good staff could have been better especially when checked in.
4.7
Great place for a visit! Love the private Ibsen’s and complimentary ramen & ice cream! Not all staff can speak English but they always try their best to assist and make you feel so welcomed! Must visit again!
4.7
The meals were so good. There were shuttle bus service to shirakawa. The pillow bar ran out of pillows by the time I was able to check it out. The shampoo bar is inside the public bath. It felt very comfortable at the resort.
4.7
Distant from the main attraction. There's shuttle bus service but check the schedule on the hotel's website.
4.7
It was close to shirawago
4.7
Good service and facility
4.7
Very clean and nice.
4.7
The property and facilities are clean and the property has excellent customer service. They have free bus shuttles to the Ogimachi bus terminal which is very convenient if you need to make transfers to Kanazawa or other areas. Make sure to check the bus shuttle schedule. My wife and I enjoyed the dinner and breakfast kaiseki style meals. We will come again!
