We had an excellent stay at Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora. The staff were very attentive, professional, and friendly. We did not have any issues at all. We loved our room and how spacious, clean, and nice it looked, and enjoyed the in-room hot spring bath. The dinner service was excellent as well. I will recommend this hotel to family and friends and will come back if we go to Hakone again in the future.

This hotel is amazing. We have 3 people staying and all the staff are very friendly. Transportation is not an issue at all. The hotel provides free shuttle service (scheduled) in between odawara station and also free pick up/ drop off service (no reservation needed) to Gora station. The private onsen is awesome, just a little disappointment is we are facing the river which they are having big construction during the day time. You will hear the noise if you are in your room during day time.

A fantastic place to stay in Hakone. From the staff to the amazing food and the private onsen it is well worth it!

Buyer beware: this hotel advertised a Mountain View, which is actually a view of the parking lot. That got me off on the wrong foot with this property. There were some wonderful things to recommend it, such as a free shuttle to take guests to the nearby Gora station. The “onsen” is not an onsen. It is a coed set of pools to sit in. There is nothing of the onsen experience here, and that is another false advertising issue with this property. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff were generally very kind and helpful. The rooms are a problem because there is tremendous noise in the hallways from other guests, and the rooms don’t have adequate soundproofing. For a five-star hotel, I was surprised by the quality. I would rank this as a 3+ and suggest that the hotel change its descriptions on its advertising materials.

Room and other areas of the property were very clean. Staff were exceptional.

Arrival can be more seamless such as when a large group of people arrive by the shuttle before check in time, can simply ask would like to wait or come back later instead of everybody sitting at the restaurant and wait one by one, end up finish check in procedure but telling you room will only ready at 15:00. It waste lots of time as guest perspective. Staff who escort me to the lift are walking super fast, I literally need to run after him, but anyway is very friendly and keep smiling on the face. Breakfast is crowed but can tell staff are tried their best to accommodate every request and still in a very polite manner, except missed my coffee order after I sit in. I have to go coffee station by myself at the end. Hotel are new and maintain in are very good condition, however service can be way more better as IHG branded.

not in a good location, have to walk up 300 stairs to Gora station. and even more chaotic with its very bad shuttle bus (its actually a 7 seats) arrangement during the check out period. river view room is quite noisy withe the small falls. staff is helpful but would be great if they smile a bit more

We had a great stay at the hotel. The room was very comfortable and the hotel onsen was very nice. It’s a great place to relax away from the busier part of Hakone. Staff was very attentive and offered great service.

I expect better service from a 5-star hotel. It is not acceptable that welcome drink is served using paper cup. And no one help us to carry our luggage to hotel room.
2.5
Amazing experience with our room plus private onsen. Everything felt luxe and taken care for.

Breakfast is very good, the room space also great, A very comfortable stay

Blown away at the amazing service! Very nice place

Had a wonderful stay at hotel Indigo. The staffs service and attention was second to none.
The breakfast buffet was vast and catered to all appetites while maintaining a Japanese focus.
The onsen spa was lovely though could benefit from hours limiting age of entry (no children) to create a more relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Hotel Indigo Hakone is an awesome hotel. The hotel transforms one into being part of "old Japan". My husband and I enjoyed and loved the room decor. We also appreciated the hotel's amenities; meals, drinks, and robes. He was impressed by the complimentary hotel shuttle bus from Odawara Station to the hotel, as well as the shuttle bus to the Gora tram station. Hotel. Indigo was sleek, family oriented, and relaxing. We loved soaking our feet in the "foot bath bar" too.
However our only complaint was the hotel's public onsen. We were under the impression the nearby sulfur spring or iron containing spring was going to provide the hot spring mineral for the bathing. Instead, it felt like a normal spa.
On the overall, Hotel Indigo is a relaxing and refreshing hotel that we would recommend to any traveler.

This is a wonderful hotel, next to a small water flow that will keep you relaxed while taking a bad in your private onsen. The rooms are outstanding, perfect for relaxing and a good time with your partner. It’s quite a joy. The hotel restaurant can earn some few Micheline stars, the food was delicious with a mix of traditional Japanese and western cuisine. Lastly, the staff was wonderful, incredibly friendly and helpful, from the moment you arrive and to the moment you leave, they make you feel so welcome. Near the hotel there are so many beautiful places to visit, the open air museum is a joy, and the towns around are beautiful. Hakone is also home to exceptional marquetry artists, you’ll find pieces worth displaying in museums. This is a must to visit Hotel if you’re celebrating anniversary, birthdays, or if you feel you need to scape for a weekend and have fun!

This is an amazing property for those who want a little luxury while staying in the Hakone area. The shuttle from Odawara was so convenient. The staff were very attentive. Having an onsen in the room was amazing. The foot bath with a river view was great.

The hotel was wonderful! The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The restaurant had great food and drinks. The entire staff was wonderful—friendly, helpful and considerate.
3.0
The restaurant dinner is average only. A bit disappointing with the upgraded wagu steak. Also there was a big cockcroach at the pillow in one of the bed at the hotel room. This caused bad experience and couldnt sleep thinking of bugs in the room.
4.0
Great property. Do not pay though for upgraded views as they are all the same. The views are not anything special. You are surrounded by mountains (beautiful) but the view from rooms is not great. The Onsen is fabulous. Not many dining options outside the hotel.
5.0
The onsen hotel is amazing, the room is airy and clean. In-room and public onsens are both nice, staff is polite and free shuttle is on time. However the immediate area around it does not have much to offer.
5.0
The hotel is beautiful and the staff were fantastic. Their shuttle to Odawara and their transport to Gora station were fantastic as there aren’t any side walks to walk there. Fantastic breakfast buffet and dinner and loved the private onsen.
The river view looks more industrial than I expected.

The public onsen was amazing. Breakfast was also great

My wife (Japanese) and I (Japanese fluent America who has ived in Japan for 15 years) checked into this hotel on the basis of the reviews and photos.
The best analogy we could come with is the following: this hotel run and operated and largely staffed by and catering to non Japanese is to a comparably priced Hakone onsen experience, as Mozarts Jupiter symphony performed by the New York Philharmonic is to the hotel elevator music version of the same.
If you want a family hotel filled with western food (overpriced) and modern kitch with a smattering of Japan style in a very foreign friendly if not unelegant way, this place is a good choice but for no one else. The "hot spring" doesn't appear to be a license onsen (in fact I asked this question after I couldn't find the certificate and the staff either pretended not to understand me or didn't know). Not surprisingly my wife and me by adoption were the only Japanese staying in the hotel we couid see.
And thats all OK but the picture and the description and the reviews present a very different picture. Be aware and beware.
Looking at it as a Western Hotel - the food was good. Our server Uraura - san at dinner was very pleasant and helpful.
The rooms were OK. Figuring out how to turn the lights off will annoy you. The in room hot bath (again onsen?) is OK other than the fact that the kids waiting for the school bus or hanging our at the brightly illuminated 7-11 across the road will have a full view of you....

The restaurant for dinner in the hotel is excellent, food are delicious. Breakfast option is ok and the staff are bit busier . The in-room onsen is just so so. Hotel is pretty small but overall experience and amenities are good.

Beautiful location. The Spa was very relaxing. Food at their restaurant was delicious. I would stay there again.

A fantastic hotel and centrally located in the Hakone area near Gora. The facilties, hot springs and service were outstanding. The shuttle service to Gora Station and Odawara Station were an added touch. We stayed 2 nights on our Japan trip but would loved to have stayed a little longer.

The hotel itself is truly amazing. The rooms are beautiful and luxurious. While we had some misunderstandings during our stay the management of the hotel was highly responsive to our concerns and took great care of us. Kudos to the hotel management for their absolutely professional and dedicated support to us. I highly recommend the hotel. It is truly a wonderful place.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful service. The onsite onsen was a great way to relax after a long day of walking.
The restaurant on site was also great.

Wonderful property and outstanding staff. The rooms are beautiful and the onsen was lovely. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. We ate at the hotel all three nights. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Hakone again.

Absolutely loved the gym and coed onsen which we spend a few hours a day in relaxing. The breakfast was outstanding and the service throughout hotel was top notch. We stayed in a suite which was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave. We would definitely come back. Thanks for having us:)

This is a really great hotel. A true getaway. The staff was exceptional. The rooms a large and luxurious. The food selection and quality is superb. We don’t normally spend much time in the hotel when we travel but we spent quality time every day at the onset and enjoyed several meals at the restaurant. Fun for all including our 8 year old who just adored the staff and the amenities.

The hotel is very nice and clean, the only thing is not that convenient to restaurant and convenient shops as I expected
