Arrived at the hotel around 6.30pm to find a young lady busy cleaning. I got the impression she was worked off her feet and quite possibly on her own. I was quickly checked in and shown to my room.
It was well decorated, huge bed, clean and modern bathroom with a lovely rain shower. Tv, although I didnt use it so no idea of what channels are available.
I went back to the bar for a drink and found the same lady much more relaxed and chatty. Im guessing she'd finished her cleaning and was now the bar manager, waitress and maitre'd all rolled in to one.
Recommended a lovely blonde beer and i relaxed in the comfortable and beautiful courtyard.
Dinner was perfect. A limted menu of 4 choices for the 3 courses but thats a perfect amount. It guarantees attention to detail unlike being bombarded with Beefeater style choices. I opted for a main and desert with the lady's recommended red wine choice.
I'm afraid i made that face when I tasted the beef brisket. You know the one when you've tasted something so good you look around at people with you and do that "oh!" noise? Well that was me, on my own so a bit embarrassing.
The dish was perfect. The wine was wonderful and despite the menu saying Apple Crumble, it was a flan. But it was still gorgeous.
I didnt sample breakfast as i had to leave early, but from my brief stay its easy to see that this is a quiet, relaxed and personal hotel. Small, well placed for road access and cycle lanes close by. An excellent host, superb food.

Welcoming friendly staff at check in
Lovely converted buildings but some may not like fact sink and shower open to sleeping area.
Wonderful meal in restaurant and great waiting staff.
Unfortunately we had power cut during night and had to leave by 7:00 to catch ferry. No one on reception at 6:00 so had to search for phone number to contact staff.
Power was restored but would have been helpful if emergency contact list available.

Highly recommend this family run hotel. Very convenient to the ferry to Portsmouth. Food very good.

A beautiful room in a lovely building, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Check in was very friendly and welcoming.
It was only a quick overnight stay for us, ahead of catching the early ferry back to the UK for which the location is perfect - just 10 minutes drive to Caen ferry port.
My only complaint is that the room was a little cold on a wet and windy November evening, and there was no info in the room regarding hotel facilities or wi-fi password (this is available at reception/in the bar).
The hotel restaurant is good, we had a simple but delicious evening meal, but no time for breakfast, so can’t comment on that.
Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Cedric, Carole and the team are a lovely, friendly bunch. I will definitely be staying again.

A hotel with great potential. Lovely building. A clean comfortable room but felt unfinished, let down by a bathroom without a door and an extract fan open to the outside so road noise and even conversations on the street could be heard. The breakfast was sparce, a real let down and not good value.

After 3 weeks travelling over France this was our last stay before the ferry back to UK.. The room was nice, big and comfortable ( apart from separate toilet which I never understand why France still do this much prefer it in the bathroom) lovey comfy bed which was a super king to our delight, best nights sleep since being in France. Staff very friendly, the food was disappointing as we don’t eat meat very limited, there was only a fish we could have which wasn’t very good at all, but apart from that the stay was nice.
