I booked my room based on the photos shown on Hotels.com. When I arrived, the room I was given was not the room that was shown online. It was extremely small and cramped. No space for luggage. No space to even walk. The bed took up the entire room. The tv had only one channel and the staff could care less about anything I said to them pertaining my room.

This is our second time at Copal and we are definitely coming back again. Everyone here is very friendly and willing to help with anything you need. If you want to escape to a quiet, clean place that is close to great restaurants and to the beach this is the place to stay. Thank you Copal!
See you soon,
Renata, Vivien and David

Very nice hotel with a good sushi restaurant in it

Copal Tulum has a beautiful junglesque, plantiful, eco friendly, earthy feel. We had a studio with garden pool. It was v spacious for two people. The decor was lovely and tiki. The pool out the backyard was just ok - not super inviting. It would have been nice if it was heated. There were a good few mosquitoes in the room - I'm guessing that due to the natural surrounding environment. The overall feel is lovely and relaxing with no sound pollution. The top floor pool was v relaxing at night. The restaurants were limited and while good and have a gorgeous feel are v expensive. Prepare to spend 100$ for a dinner for two (2 main courses, 1 side, a drink, water and tip). The staff are warm and humble and very easy to ask any questions and suggest things. The road to the hotel is a bit scary. On the first night the taxi brought us down a side road that was uneven, very ramshackle and kind of scary as it had no street lights. We took taxis everywhere (which will add up and vary in cost depending on the driver) but I'm sure you could walk 15 mins or bike to a restaurant up the road if you feel confident enough. Overall - for the price it was a lovely, unique stay! The hotel suggested a trip to a protected beach reserve at alito hotel. It was a gorgeous beach with v calm water, very clean and no one bothers you. What they don't tell you in advance is that you have to pay a fee to enter the reserve & 1000 pesos to rent a cabana but you get a meal and two drinks (great value though!)

A hidden gem in Tulum, Copal has everything you need.
Amazing staff in all departments, helpful and kind.
The rooms are clean and well equipped.
The cool thing is that you feel like you’re in the jungle for a bit, but all of a sudden the restaurants and pool appears. Proper good food in both of them.
Also the roof terrace is pretty nice if you want to get a tan. Overall a great stay!

This is the best and most organized hotel ! From the excursions to the transportation and customer service. They made me feel more at ease especially with everything going on at mexico. Everyone is helpful and they really try their best to make you comfortable. The hotel apartment is beautiful and it captures the essence of nature. The pool is great ! I had no bed bugs and the wifi is decent for the basics. I loved everything about the hotel. The location is perfect and next to restaurants and the activity. I recommend everyone yo come here , they will provide you a list of excursions including the transportation, spas and whole bunch of other things so you can have a fun time. COPAL TULUM is the BEST❤️

We had a lovely stay, and we did extend.
We arrived in the evening after an 11 hour flight and we checked in very quickly. The hotel has two restaurants which do amazing food, and have great service.
The apartment was spacious, however we found that the bathroom and kitchen utensils were not adequately cleaned. We assumed it was an oversight and thought it would be rectified during daily room service, which it was not, so we had to request additional cleaning. Apart from this the room was safe and secure.
Please note that as beautiful the grounds are, it is in a jungle setting and the mosquitos are relentless. It didn’t bother us as we are from countries where we are in frequent contact with tropical species. So if you find a frog in your private pool, the grounds people are happy to relocate them.
The overall service is from the concierge is great, they are friendly and helped us booked tours and gave suggestions of authentic restaurants.
Would I stay there again- absolutely!

I booked the most expensive room and it had bed bugs. I woke up with over 36 bites all over my body when I alerted the staff they acted as if they didn't know about the problem until I told them I had photos. Then the story changed. I tried to allow them to make things right but unfortunately they blamed the pesticide company! There was loud construction being done every day. It was just not the experience I was looking for in a vacation. I would recommend a hotel closer to the beach with better reviews and food choices.

This is our 2nd time staying in Copal and again this boutique hotel did NOT disappoint. Everything was wonderful especially the customer service. Hurricane Beryl was heading towards the Cancun-Tulum area but the reassurance that this team gave was unmatched. I am very grateful for them and will be back again in the future.

This is an amazing place- magical at night with great lighting. Room was spacious and well stocked, full kitchenette. Friendly staff and beautiful pools. Reasonable prices at restaurant. Only complaint for all of Tulum is the lack of public transport- you are limited to taxi, scooter or bike- no ride sharing services or public systems.

The staff was amazing! I stayed during hurricane Beryl and I felt so safe at the hotel. The staff gave us updates of what’s going on through WhatsApp. Anything you asked for they gave you. Everyone is extremely nice. The room was clean, pool amazing. There isn’t much of a view. You’re surrounded by trees but that wasn’t a problem for me. Food was great, especially the sushi served at the restaurant upstairs. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I was skeptical because of the bad reviews but I loved my time here.

Zen setting with lush trees all around the facility. Clean hotel.
The aerea around the hotel is average and dark at night. Really nothing the hotel can do. It's the city and government not taking care of the streets and the environment.

The room was very clean and it was to my standard. The hotel itself is very beautiful and zen. It definitely gives a very relaxed feel. There are dogs and cats that live at the hotel which I don’t mind since I love animals but if that’s not something you like then it’s good to be aware of. The pools are nice, clean and cool. I do think they need more staff since a group of eaten floating breakfasts didn’t get picked up for a while and we were swimming in the pool whilst it was next to us, so that was a bit gross…so maybe if they had more staff that would’ve been taken care of quicker. Also, the power did go out at night and they do not have a generator so keep that in mind as it can get pretty hot. Also room service is not easy to get a hold of like typical hotels. We got massages which were great. I definitely recommend the massage but be sure to bring your voucher because we forgot ours and ended up paying full price sadly. The food at the restaurant was surprisingly good for the most part w/ good prices, but I do not recommend the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, the salmon was super hard. Overall I would visit again & we enjoyed our stay.

Spent 2 nights here upon arriving in Tulum.
PROS: Easy walk to downtown. The area is being developed and safe to walk during daylight. The food in the resturant was excellent and we purchased the discounted massages which were also excellent. The front desk staff and concierge were very pleasant and kind. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained.
CONS: the bath products were billed as “natural” but are just watery. The rooms show some wear and during our stay the fob system on the rooms “went down” and we could not lock our room. The staff used their card key to lock for us. System was back up in a couple hours. As we learned later in our stay in Tulum, the electrical grid is fragile and creates these problems everywhere. ALWAYS use the safe in the rooms and take other personal safety precautions.

The hotel itself is amazing as it gives you a sanctuary feel which is serene. The on-site sushi restaurant is also quite amazing. The villas are comforying and spacious but, they are easy fir anyone to get into which i learned the hard way. I caught a man from housekeeping in my room dugging through our sidetable and then i saw him walk over to thr coich and povk up from friend's pocketbook and stary figging through it. I caught him red handed as he did not know we were in our room, in our private pool with the curtains 75% closed. It was disheartening on so many levels as i felt unsafe and disrespected. Management only wanted to offer me free breakfast which is a slap in the face for how o was feelinh and for what I had to endure. When I tried to warn ankthet couple I met the next day in the lobby, they endured a similar situation while they were in bed and caught their assailant as well. I am still amazed at how wonderful the decor and ambiance was but I would never stay here again as safety is not their priority. They are fully aware what goes on and have no empathy based on other burued reviews I finally found as free breakfast was the common theme for people that had similar situations.

We loved our stay here! Friendly and helpful staff and such a beautiful property. Location is excellent- walkable to Tulum Center or a very quick taxi ride. Also very easy to get an affordable taxi to the beach areas.
We also both got a relax massage during our stay here and really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend and we are actually looking to come back sometime in the future.
