The fishing is wonderful! If fresh lobster and conch are in season and something you are looking for, you have come to the right place! The close-by hotels have the best restaurants in Belize, in our opinion. Or even better, go into the village and eat at one of the local restaurants to enjoy a local, cultural “Garifuna” dish.
This apartment features all of the comforts of home: flat screen TV, CD player, high-end appliances, reading materials. You will not be roughing it on this Belize adventure! Check out the photos.
Don’t feel like cleaning, cooking, or doing the laundry on vacation? We can arrange all of these for an additional charge. Make your vacation a true vacation!. Transportation to and from Dangriga airport or from BZE International is also available.
A full time crew maintains our property. They rake the beaches, arrange for the kayaks, and handle any of your concerns; just ask. They treat guests as family and want you to truly enjoy your vacation.
How to get here: Major airlines fly into Belize International Airport (BZE). From there you have options: rent a car and drive down to Hopkins (about a 2-2.5 hour drive on the beautiful Hummingbird Highway until the new connector route is complete) or take one of the regional carriers (Tropic Air or Maya Air) to the Dangriga Airport; from there it is only a short 20-25 minute taxi ride to the property.
Let us help you have a vacation to remember!
Please note: Individuals looking for a "party place" should look elsewhere: this a quiet beach front area and a family home in which we take pride. We value the relationships we have with our neighbours, so if there are complaints, you will be asked to leave.

I was looking for something quiet and out of the way of the major tourist areas and this was perfect! No noise, no golf carts but walking distance to everything. It was incredibly clean and well stocked with towels and kitchen items. The bathroom is gorgeous! I If I wasn't diving or riding my bike, I was in the hammock listening to the waves or star gazing. Will absolutely be back!

Habaru House and Hopkins were exactly as advertised, very friendly and safe. The kayaks and bikes at Habaru provided lots of flexibilty and opportunities for exercise. Very comfortable apartment with multiple restaurants within walking distance or a short bike ride.

There are not enough good things I can say about this property!! My husband and I just recently returned from a two month stay at Habaru House 31G, and loved every minute of our getaway. The check is process was easy, communication with the owners was easy, and communication with the property manager was easy. However, the best part of this home is the AMAZING beach and AMAZING views from everywhere in the property. We had absolutely everything we needed, and have zero complaints. I cannot recommend this property enough!!! My husband and I always said we'd never go to the same place twice; however, we will be back many times in the future. Don’t hesitate, just book it!

A family vaca - 1st time in Belize
The rental process was easy and all the listed pics were exactly what we found once we arrived. Communicating with the owner before our arrival was smooth and his responsiveness excellent. For our party of seven, having Chef Dana cook for us and using Charlton to bring us back and forth to the airport, insured we'd have no stress related to those needed activities.
I would rent this property again and Anthony the property manager was friendly, informative and attentive. Thank you so much for the great experience!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Habaru house! The amenities and the description were pretty spot on. We had access to kayaks and life jackets and bikes. There was plenty of space for everyone. The air conditioners in the bedrooms kept the rooms cool so you could sleep. The only areas for opportunity was the cooling in the main living room likely because it was such a large space with high ceilings and it never really cooled down to a comfortable level. I would recommend getting beach cleaning Tools to keep in the shed. Although though the maintenance people came a few times during our stay, the seaweed was really terrible and if we had rakes or tools it would have Made our use of the beach easier and more enjoyable. The upstairs deck was fantastic, we could eat out there read and just hang out and enjoy the view of the ocean and the gorgeous sea breeze. My mother uses a walker and although with assistance she can ambulate up and down stairs, the stairs are quite lengthy but once she was situated she was fine. There is a downstairs unit with a separate entrance that some of our family used and between the two, it was the perfect l+ocation for a large family gathering. I would highly recommend!

Great Home, Great Location
We loved the property. The pictures do not do the house justice. It is nicer than the pictures can capture. All the handmade woodwork, the ceiling details, and the tile work are all beautiful. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning worked well. took a little time to cool since it wasn't occupied prior to our visit. But once we got it cooled down, we would turn the units off for the daytime and back on when we returned and it was very comfortable.
Dana and Anthony were great. We only had Dana cook our final meal. I wish we used her more.
The kayaks were great as well as the bikes.
It was an easy ride into town. Glad we rented a car to see sights. There are only 2 main roads in belize and we only saw one stop light. Watch out for the speed bumps.
We will definitely be back.

Peaceful Getaway
Was a great place for our family to get away and relax for the week. Property was clean and perfectly located right on the beach. Loved having Dana cook a local traditional meal each day. Host and local manager(s) were quick to respond to any needs or questions. Locals in the area are very friendly, we enjoyed every day of our vacation.

Our extended family of 7 stayed at the Habaru House. Here is my rating.
1. Property upkeep- impeccable. The house is in great shape. Only one complaint. Twice during our stay the A/C in one of the downstairs BRs quit working. I'm sure they will rectify this though.
2. Location- remote. It's a long ride here from Belize City. It is a laid back small town. There are good restaurants in the area and we like it but it's not for everyone.
3. The beach. This was our main drawback. The beach is beautiful but when we were there seaweed was push in by the tides and it made the beach smell and no one wanted to wade thru the muck to get in the water. I know this is hit or miss and not in any way the fault of the owner but it is something that you should be aware could happen when you are there.
4. Communication. The owner was friendly and willing to answer any wue ssd's tion but you should know that he recently sold the property so you should check future reviews to see if the next owner keeps up the tradition.
In the end would we stay here again? Yes we would.

Beautiful Home with a ocean view!
Perfect house in Hopkins! The house is beautifully decorated and well insulated. I could not hear people on the porch or noises from other bedrooms while in my bedroom which is rare. The view and access of the ocean in front of our house is exactly as the pictures posted on VRBO. Fantastic sunrises and sunsets. Antony, the groundskeeper, was very helpful and available for advice about life in Hopkins. His wife Dana, stocked our fridge for our arrival and made us a lovely dinner for our late night 8:30 pm arrival. She is a private contractor, but well worth whatever she charges…which was minimal. Our group asked for privacy and we received exactly what we wanted. Strongly suggest renting a golf cart, even though we had rented a Jeep to drive to Hopkins. Douglas, the owner, was an excellent communicator and had multiple suggestions on where to go and what to do. We had a fantastic snorkeling experience where we were able to see unbelievable aquatic life. Sharks, fish, manatees, stingrays, etc. The house provides identification charts of all types for us to identify our sightings. We all loved that! During our 4 day stay, we visited almost every restaurant and shop in Hopkins. Hopkins is very SAFE! It’s still small enough to leave shopping bags in your golf cart, park it and visit beach spots without worry of personal belongings going missing. Highly recommend this area of Belize! Our next excursion was San Pedro…bustling with tourists with a high crime rate. So happy we were able to experience the small town life of Belize first. Thank you to Douglas, Antony and Dana!

Peaceful spot
Great space with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our whole party of two families traveling together. Hopkins is a great town with history and a bit more culture and still a safe and welcoming place for tourists. The extra air mattress didn’t work and that was a disappointment but other than that we loved our stay.

We had a great stay during our few day trip to Hopkins. Dougs place has kayaks, bikes, even fishing poles. We met the neighbor in the large house at the end of the street, he was very friendly and gave us a bunch of additional tips for the area.

Fabulous experience in a lovely house!
Habaru is a great property - the inside is well-appointed and spacious and everything is well-maintained. The kitchen is equipped with most everything needed to cook full meals. The kayaks are a great bonus activity. The only neutral comment (which has nothing to do with the house) is that the water has minimal surf movement, so if you have kids looking to ride waves, it's not going to happen. This is offset by how the clear water often allows for good snorkeling right off the beach. The location is great - easy access to town, the Sittee River marina, and other areas of interest. We also highly recommend contacting Hopkins Auto Rental if you need a vehicle or a shuttle ride from Belize City; Sadie and her staff/family were easy to contact, had everything ready for us, and also served as great tour guides.

This was our 2nd time staying at the Habaru house, and it likely won’t be the last! We have stayed in other rentals in the area that just don’t compare. It’s amazing to have the beach right out your door. There is everything you need in the house, it’s well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and many spices and cooking essentials like foil, Tupperware, ziplocks, etc. The house is super clean and well maintained. We just love this place!!! -The Bond Family

Hopkins Belize Getaway.
We had a wonderful time with my teenage children my elderly parents. We had 7 people and had plenty of room. The house is clean and well appointed. Doug the owner was responsive to communication. We had a local couple (Dana and Anthony) as our host at the house. Dana cooked for us and it was great. Anthony was was available for any concerns. Hopkins is a cool town the is off the normal tourist beaten path. Lots of great oceanside restaurants. We had a wonderful time at the house sitting on the private beach and kayaking (all provided). The home is in Central Coastal Belize, great location for inland adventures. Found a great tour company called Get to know Belize Adventures, they set up four trips for us and picked us up at the house. Great trip. Highly recommend.

Great Family Holiday
Great place and much larger than we had anticipated. Best equipped villa we have stayed in and great communication all the way through. About a 10/15 min walk from a variety of restaurants. Great starting point to see Belize from the Mayan ruins, to Jungle hikes and cave tubing. The snorkeling should not be missed nor should an evening listening to the Garifuna drummers. The area is very much a locals area, if you are looking for fast food chains and big hotels, this is not the place, but if you want to experience some of the true culture of Belize, Hopkins is a must.

Habaru House in Hopkins is Perfect for large Family
Nine of us stayed the week after Christmas. House was perfect for us with high speed internet, plenty of linens, comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen. Easy walk to some South Hopkins dining --great food! Right across from the house was a little pond and it was great in the morning to go over and observe cranes, egrets, wood storks and Jabaru storks.
Kayaks were available to paddle out to see the sunrise. Lots of pelicans to entertain us, too!

Even better than advertised
To say we had an amazing time would be an understatement. We visited with six adults for Christmas. Doug was a great host, kept us well informed and made sure we were prepared for our trip. Regular communicator and we never felt lacking for anything. The house is stunning and location amazing. Plenty of space for everyone to relax. Well stocked kitchen. Great beachfront property with kayaks and comfortable chairs. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the covered patio. There are bikes provided but I recommend a golf cart if you want to be more mobile. Great for traveling to dinner and we went to the grocery store in town a lot, which is a few miles away. Definitely try Barracuda, Lucky Lobster, Curve Bar at the Sittee River Marina and the restaurant at Hamanasi (reservations required). Dock Bar at Jaguar resort is also a really cool experience. Dana cooked meal for us the day we arrived and the days we went on excursions- it was amazing to come home to a great smelling house and meal. She cooked us many local meals and even cooked up the fish we caught. Anthony (property manager) was attentive and helpful, pointing us to the right stores, helping move furniture and addressing any other needs. Charlton was an amazing guide and booked all of our excursions- we had an amazing experience snorkeling and visiting Mayan Ruins. We paired it with Cave Tubing which was very relaxing and such a cool experience.

Habaru House has a nice view of the beach and comfortable rooms and beach furniture. The manager and his wife were friendly and accessible. We used both the kayaks and the bicycles, which were nice to have.

Great Pink House!!
Nine of us stayed at Habaru House for 10 days and we loved our time there. The house was perfect for our family. Room enough for all 9 of us to eat together! The location right on the beach was so nice for a dip before breakfast and another dip before dinner after a day of Belize activities. Anthony (maintence person) answered all our questions and took care of the couple of problems in a very timely manner. We would love to go back some day to relax.

First Class
The house and grounds are beautiful. The beach is so inviting and Anthony does a great job of keeping the grounds spotless. I would highly recommend Chef Dana to cook a couple of meals if not all your meals as the food it great and she cooks more than enough and we made several meals out of one. We also recommend Charlton as a guide we enjoy the trip to the Mayan Ruins and Cave tubing. Doug the owner is very attentive and willing to answer all of your questions prior to going. We had a great time. If your looking for excellent accommodations, a pristine beach, and a great adventure, this is the place.

Simply fantastic!
We stayed for a week in this wonderful home. Hopkins is beautiful. The views from the balcony and the pristine beach are unbelievable. The house had everything you need and more for a relaxing vacation. The craftsmanship throughout the home is incredible.
While we were there we snorkeled the barrier reef, made plenty of use of the kayaks, went to the Mayan ruins, went cave tubing, zip lining, and rappelled Antelope Falls. All of these activities far exceeded our expectations. We did the Mayan ruins and cave tubing with Kulcha Tours as suggested. Our guide Gaby felt like family. He made the experience unforgettable.
The dining options in Hopkins are great. The owner of Lucky Lobster is a great guy and the food is good. You absolutely must go to La Trattoria Romana Italian restaurant. Probably the best Italian food I've had anywhere in the world. Max the waiter is awesome and the service is top notch. Breakfast at Barracuda Bar and Grill is perfect. Nothing like eating breakfast while playing fetch with the Bar dog in the ocean.
The sand flies are only a problem if you don't prepare beforehand. Just put on some 'Skin so soft' and they don't bother you.
This was perhaps the most memorable vacation we've had. The house is the perfect place to make family memories that will last a lifetime.

What a fabulous property and home! Our family of 8 travelled to Hopkins to celebrate our daughter's wedding. Habaru House served as a comfortable gathering place and 'wedding central'. We each had plenty of personal space and privacy, yet the home was conducive to spending time together. It is very tastefully decorated and well appointed with all the comforts of home - stylish, spacious, and homey. We prepared many meals in the great kitchen and even made the wedding cake! The owner, Jim, and the staff were very accommodating and personable. Caretaker, Pete, and groundskeeper, Gil, went above and beyond expectations to ensure our stay was perfect. The wedding was held on the beach in front of the house and was the perfect venue for an intimate, casual, and special wedding celebration. We cannot thank Jim and his staff enough for all the extra touches of kindness. Following the wedding our family stayed on to continue our Belize vacation. Again, Habaru House was a perfect base. Thank you to Jim and staff. We highly recommend this great property for a Vacation to Remember!

We recently rented Habaru House to accommodate my family and as a venue for my wedding. It was perfect for both. The house is gorgeous and spacious. Everyone had their own space in the house and bathrooms but we would gather in the great room or kitchen to play games, plan wedding details or cook meals. The golf cart was very handy for getting around the village for shopping trips or going out for meals or just touring around and exploring. There were very few but any issues were promptly addressed by Pete and his staff. I cannot say enough about Pete Flisock, the caretaker living in the apartment downstairs, he really goes out of his way to make everyone's stay enjoyable. He was there when we needed him but also was respectful of guest privacy. We often asked him to join us for a BBQ ect. because his company was entertaining and enjoyable. His dogs Chunko and Cash are also a pleasure. Chunko is a gentle giant but quietly protective of the guests. He will sleep up on the back or front entrances at night to keep watch and Pete says he only does that when there are guests around. I wish I could post pictures of my wedding. It was magical and we got many compliments that it was the best wedding some of our guests had ever been to. It was an evening ceremony with natural greenery and tropical flowers adorning the beach. We had LED candles everywhere to add to the romance. It was a casual cultural ceremony with the bridal party in barefoot with traditional Garifuna dress for the men and Hopkins' renouned Lebeha Garifuna Drummers. We had about 100 or so guests, many of whom also wore traditional garb. The bride and bridesmaids made their entrance down the steps from the second level and then onto the beach. After the ceremony a BBQ feast was served up on the beach followed by dancing and drumming. Pete really helped out with details and even pitched in behind the bar for a while. Gil, the groundskeeper, helped out with decorating and clean up the next day and was also there with his family to celebrate with us. The night watchman was also around keeping an eye on things but you hardly knew he was there. It really is the perfect venue for a wedding if you are looking for something with the style and class of a resort wedding but more personal and intimate.

My boyfriend and I recently vacationed in Hopkins, Belize for 10 days. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures represent. The interior is definitely designed with luxury in mind. The grounds are immaculately kept. The oceanviews from throughout the house are stunning. My favorite time of day was when we would return from some amazing adventure and sit on the back deck and enjoy pure tranquility. Pete was very knowledgeable and helpful with arranging tours for us. We ziplined, we spent a day at the ruins, I snorkeled, my boyfriend flats fished, we hiked to waterfalls in the jungle, we danced to drum circles in the village, we ate traditional flapjacks, and the rest of the time we enjoyed relaxing at the house with Chunko and Cash. The location of the house is ideal. All our activities were easy to get to and the village was a short drive in the electric car. We also could walk down the beach to neighboring restaurants. Snorkel trips depart daily from down the beach as well. The reef off Hopkins is really impressive, one of the best days I've snorkeled. All in all I would strongly recommend this property and I look forward to when I can return to vacation there!

My wife, son, and I stayed for two weeks at Habaru House which was our first ever trip to Belize. It was a fabulous house in a great location to experience all Hopkins and the rest of Belize has to offer. The house has every amenity and is a quick golf cart ride to the entire village. The beach just steps from the back door is awesome and a great place to lie in the hammock or play in the surf with Chunko and Cash the lovable local dogs. From Habaru House we did an amazing day trip to the Mayan ruins at Xunantunich and another to the longest zip line in Belize at Mama Noots. We also went on a life changing night tour with Levi on the Sittee River to see crocs and the amazing phosphorescent algea lightshow of the lagoon where we saw a manatee moving slowly through the water leaving a trail of light like a comet. I caught my first permit on the fly with Lloyd who picked me up in his panga right on the beach in front of Habaru House. My son had a couple of Garifuna drumming lessons taught by the amazing Warren "Waawaa" from the Lebeha Drumming Center on the Habaru House beach which was special to watch. The two weeks went by too quickly but I know we'll return again and again to Habaru House.

Exquisite home, beautifully and modernly decorated and very well maintained. The back deck overlooking the beach provides amazing views of the ocean, tropical rains and sunrises. We were a group of nine and were very comfortable with plenty of room. We miss Cash and Chunko (sweet lovable dogs on the property)...and Pete - he's the man :-)
2.5
This home is lovely, well maintained, and very comfortable. There is plenty of room for a large family or multiple couples. Starting our day with a cup of coffee on the large covered deck watching the sun rise or the rain come down was all good, and then moving down to the beach for a few rays, a little snorkeling or kayaking after breakfast is about as relaxing as it gets. Say hello to Cash and Chunko the dogs when you arrive and you've made friends for life. Make sure you talk to Pete about his catamaran tour out to the reef. You won't regret it!

This home is top o' the line! Great flats fishing nearby, they have a wonderful inland guide for tours and right on the beach! Very comfortable and easy to get to town. I highly recommend this home for your stay.

What a great place to stay. We truly enjoyed our stay. The caretaker Peter was there to help with any questions we had. We had Conko and Cash to protect us, being dog lovers we loved having them around. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. We loved being right on the beach. We rented a van and drove all around Belize to ruins and cave tubing. We took a fishing and snorkeling trip with Horace. Love eating at the Baracuda Bar and Grill. I would highly recommend this house.
