About this cottage rental

"Orchard Barn House" is set in a 15th century cider orchard next door to the owners Farm House and Weaving Studio. The owners, Susie and David, have renovated the Barn House with a rustic/contemporary feel and a love of craftsmanship.

Inside, "Orchard Barn House" is light and bright with wood, stone and one off art pieces. It has a sleek contemporary kitchen and open plan living and dining room with a Scandinavian feel of Eames style chairs, leather sofa, Barcelona glass table and black frameless roof windows which let the light flood in.

There are 3 light and bright bedrooms with stylish wooden beds, oak flooring and a mixture of stone and wooden walls.

"Orchard Room" is a king bedroom with an ensuite shower room.
“Courtyard Room” is a double bedroom with ensuite shower room.
“Valley Room” is a twin bedroom with private shower room.

There is a sunny patio in the orchard for you to relax in which looks over the flax beds which Susie and David plant, harvest and process for Susie to spin into linen before weaving it into her artwork and cushions. It’s amazing to see the vivid blue flax flowers in the summer.

We had a super stay in David and Susie's thoughtfully decorated property with our three children. The location is great for exploring the Devon coast, with great walks, some lovely beaches and other places of interest to visit. The house itself is surrounded by hills and fields, but only a short drive down a windy country road and conveniently, only an equally short drive from a supermarket - although it's hard to believe it when you're at the house! David and Susie are discreet but friendly hosts, happy to help make your stay a memorable one. We would strongly recommend this property and would gladly return ourselves for another visit.

Lovely stay at this modern but comfortable barn. Plenty of room for 6 people with lots of warm water and a good size kitchen. Plenty of pots and pans and kitchen appliances. No dishwasher which is a shame for 6 people but made up for by the size of the place. Due to the nature of the barn noise travels therefore it may not be suitable for young children.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barn House. Susie and David were very helpful with recommendations of places to visit and local eateries and it was a real pleasure to visit Susie in her weaving studio. Barn House was conveniently situate, well designed and maintained. It was set back from the road within an orchard and there was a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy a glass of wine or an evening meal. The house was also well placed for visiting all areas of Devon from Dartmouth to Dartmoor.
