I have stayed at hostels and budget locations around the world and found this location in need of some attention. For those looking for a hotel experience, this is not the location for you. This is perfect for those on a budget. It is located in the heart of Brown University with plenty of food options. The street life can be a bit loud with cars revving their engines from 6 PM - 1 AM. The smell of the vape shop/hookah lounge below adds an extra flavor. I had no issues with these things - it was more the cleanliness of the shared bathrooms and room. When I arrived the bathrooms were a mess and my room looked like it had not been cleaned in a while. I did call the manager about the state of the bathrooms and they had their cleaning team clean them the next morning. So that was a good sign. It would be great in the future if their cleaning team put a bit more effort into prepping the rooms. FYI - bring your own soap and shampoo since none is provided.

It is hard to find a cheap place to stay in the heart of Providence; so if you are looking for that, this is the place to stay! I think my biggest issues with it was security (it does have a code to get into the building and your room, but other than the security cameras, there is no front desk etc) and noise. The walls are very thin so you can hear the people in the rooms next to you, the people in the hallway and the people on the street. Other than Saturday night where I heard lots of people going out on the street, it was not much of an issue. The hostel itself was decently clean (except for the kitchen on occasion) and for the most part I had the shared bathroom to myself (cold and hot water available for showering but I would say there was no soap for the entirety of my stay there :/)

The two sofas were very old and not taken care off (full of stains), we didn't even think about sitting on them. The bed was old and also damaged, the sheet and towels looked clean but since the rest of the room didn't it was very concerning.
I hope you get ride of the old/stain furniture. There is cheap furniture in Ikea that you can use instead.

Wonderful value for money - clean, great location, good communication from staff.

This is a shared communal space and so noisy inside and outside as expected. Communication regarding checking in was great. I gave it a lower rating because we reserved a room with two twin beds for two well built boys that would typically sleep well in two full beds, and instead we got one queen bed. Had I known I would have paid extra and booked a hotel.

The property was NOTHING like the pictures. It was dirty & beat-up. There is no air or fan and the windows are broken - if you can get it open you have to prop it with something so that it stays open. The common bathroom was not clean and several times it ran out of toilet paper which you cannot flush but have to throw in a bin! The streets are noisy all night long with people cruising with loud music. There were homeless individuals sleeping on the doorstep and even in the stairwell on a rainy day. I didn’t feel very safe even though I was two blocks from Brown University.

“So smoke meth” started my stay. Positives: the bedding and mattress seemed clean with minimal odor. There was a working TV. The location is close to the University and Starbucks is across the street. When I arrived the shared bathroom stall had the graffiti above, no hand soap and no rollers to hold toilet paper. The room consisted of old dorm beds, desk, chair and carpeting. It had two couches, both filthy. One had either blood or chocolate stain on it. The smoke alarm had no battery, only 1 of 3 windows opened, some device under the night stand seemed disabled. The curtains were thin, didn’t match and didn’t cover the windows so 5:40am the sun, and heat, streamed in. The pictures of bedrooms on website didn’t look anything like my room was set. The room smelled like gym socks and had no climate control. The locked thermostat in the main hall was set to 80 degrees even as the rooms were uncomfortably hot and when they came to put on the A/C days later, it was a cool night and room was cold. All the flooring was disgusting. The carpets everywhere were dirty. I don’t think shower rugs have ever been washed and there was blood on the privacy screen. There was hot water but pressure was so minimal, one woman washed her hair in the sink. There seems to be no one on site and guests piled up dirty dishes; the kitchen was gross. I never dared to open refrigerator. There was an electric kettle and minimal dishes. There was a homeless person sleeping in stepwell. Never again

Virtual checkin was a disaster all round.

This property has people living there permanently. They sleep in the common area couches

Stayed here overnight and had room broken into and almost all items stolen while I slept. Police apprehended some perpetrators within days. They admitted to having the key code not only to the building to my room as well! How does that happen? Management was unable or unwilling to provide security camera footage despite a camera in the hallway right outside my room. To top it off i was denied a refund.

Pros: Closest lodging to Brown, lots of restaurants, very affordable, clean, huge common bathroom
Cons: rooms are run down, heating system is out of control (very hot and very cold), thin walls, no real lounge, a broken window in a room (they switched me to a different room)
If they invested $50k in new windows, HVAC and lighting, it would be a great place.

I would like to Express my gratitude to Staffs Linda, Sebastian, and the owner himself Sezar. I have been here for about 2 months, and I have been treated with a degree of gratitude, and respect that it's starting to feel like a family.
Anyone who wants this experience should book with this business, if not for the staff, the people, or the business than do so for it's location, surroundings, and friendly warm reception.

Very uncomfortable situation. Arrived at facility to find front door open(not secured). When we got to our room, we found the door open and the previous occupant still in room. Room was unkept. Text facility since there is no reception available, was told to wait for individual to leave and they would clean the room. This was not acceptable. The facility put us in a very awkward position and did not feel safe. We left the facility, requested a refund which they only agreed to refund 1 of 5 days.
FYI, we meet a few of the persons who placed good reviews on Expedia in the facility. Appear to be long term residents and or employees of place.

We liked the price, compared to other accommodations in Providence. The room was clean, but very bare bones. Sharing the bathroom was ok, but some of the guests just left their bathroom items always in the bathroom at the sinks counter. Traffic outside our window was quite loud on a Saturday night until 10:30pm or so. The room was sufficient for what my husband and I needed... a quick stay.

I had some unexpected death in my family and I couldn’t make it to the hotel I try to get a refund but they wouldn’t give it to me it’s not my fault that I had a death in my family I taught they would have a little compassion but no I would not recommend this establishment

Messed up our reservation. Room wasn't cleaned, then sent us to an occupied room walking in on them. Finally moved us to a completely different area 15 minutes away. Not what we wanted from a place just to crash for the one night... Got very late.

VERY conveniently located for any Brown visitors, but quite noisy at night (but awfully quiet in the morning)
Some of the "normal" services available at a typical hotel are not available, e.g. laundry, luggage deposit service, hangers in the room

It was a great experience to sleep there. The bed was confortable and washrooms were clean.

There was no hand soap. Dispensers in both bathroom and kitchen were empty. Please supply soap for tenants' health.

Good location, no service, only for short stay.

The stay wasn't bad, I booked a room for 2 nights and wasn't bother by anyone. The street around the hostile has a lot of food and some shopping options too. Its really close to the bus stop so you can ask to be taken to the mall as well.
However, the ladies room didn't have handsoap the whole time I was there which was not great and I'd recommend bringing shower slippers.

I booked this place on Thayer Street in Providence RI because I used to live on the street when I was in college and was coming back for a 50th reunion. I must admit that I did not realize this was not a hotel but a room with shared bathroom facilities - my fault for not reading the fine print. But a room for $200+ is not a bargain. I ended up NOT staying here at all because I took a dorm room on the campus. I asked for a refund but they were having none of it because it was less than 5 days before occupancy. A regular hotel would have canceled for me but, as I have made clear, this is NOT a hotel. Communications are TERRIBLE. Hotel.com provides limited info and the contact # for the property manager often just goes to voicemail. The day of arrival, they text you a door code for the property which is on the 2nd floor of the building in the photo (NOT the entire property) above a Ben & Jerry's, Then they text you a second door code for the room itself. I dealt with someone named Sebastian who needs customer service training in the worst way. My advice: look elsewhere and only book here as a last resort.

It's a great place to stay on a budget if you don't mind living in a dorm like setting. Bathrooms & kitchens were clean and the beds were comfortable. Check in was online and the locks and codes worked perfectly.it was a bit noisy on the street, but that's ro be expected in a college town. Staff was super friendly and helpful. There are stairs so be prepared to carry bags up.

Convenient spot for those wanting to be around students, near the Brown campus. Self service check in / out - small kitchen and seating area.

There was some sort of issue with the property, and the company sent us to a different rental location. It was okay, but we were traveling on foot from the train station and had to adjust or route and walking time. The alternate house was clean and comfortable. I liked that the individual bedroom had its own locks.

My room was unlocked when I arrived and the code provided didn’t work. I called the number provided but got an answering machine. Next morning I woke up early and called and was told that it would take a while for the handyman to arrive. After pushing a bit, the person showed up and fixed the lock. Next day I couldn’t open my door again and again phone calls etc to enter my room. Third day the lock was replaced but no code was provided, again multiple calls/ text messages needed to resolve the issue.

It was very close to Brown University but I it was very noisy at night. There was also someone else’s clothes in my room. This did made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

I guess i should have been more prepared. It was very quiet and very clean. The room had 2 twins, I'm only 5 feet tall so that was no issue for me. Don't forget a washcloth if you want to clean yourself. Flight of stairs to rooms was rough but only because of my own issues. The window coverings let in 98% of light, so if you like dark rooms bring a sleeping mask. No actual complaints about the place, i just wasn't 100% prepared for the experience.

Very comfortable, quiet, clean and well located. Great stay for any number of nights.
