Iconic location and an iconic hotel

Iconic location on Gurko Street. Great staff, reception and of course the charming Miro 😎. Big shout out to the cleaners too! The food is of high quality and the breakfasts are substantial. Highly recommended

Hotel exceptional !

Recomand cu incredere ! Hotelul amplasat excelent, in centrul vechi al orasului, camere spatioase, foarte curate, mobilier frumos, mancare foarte buna, mancarea cu specific traditional bulgaresc excelenta, preturi acceptabile ! Personalul amabil, atent la orice doleanta a clientului ! O minivacanta reusita !

A charming little Mehana hotel by the Yantra, with a lovely staff!

Hotel Gurko is on a famous old city street that is named after a general in the Russian army that liberated Bulgaria from the Ottoman empire. The street is central to the riverside district and near restaurants, the art gallery, etc. The staff are super friendly and helpful and gave me advice on changing my bus ticket (and called the bus line to help me get information). The rooms are nice. The beds are a little old, and the style is definitely more traditional, but they have a very nice bathroom and are reasonably well appointed. I think there is parking but I did not use it. The hotel offers a free breakfast that is very elaborate and traditional - fruit, pastries, meat, cheese, yogurt, and more. I did not happen to try the dinner offerings, unfortunately. I only stayed one night but appreciated them very much. There are many really excellent restaurants nearby, as well as theirs, and if I had stayed longer I would have tried the mehana dinner. One additional traveler tip: Note the location. Avtogari Yug (South Bus Station) is very close by. My bus came to the western bus station, which was 45 minutes away on foot (from anything a tourist would be doing).

No major things. The mattresses could be replaced. While I was there, essentially the entire time, the wifi did not work, but I did not address this with them because it did not happen to be a huge nuisance.

Very nice family hotel

Stayed here before and really like the hotel, the rooms are spacious and the breakfast is very good, the staff were very helpful and nice, very nice views if you get a room at the front.

The only slight issue was the hotel bar and restaurant was closed for our stay, that said we were there in winter and only for one night.

Poor

The view was fine, but the hotel was VERY hard to find (even with GPS). The "breakfast" left much to be desired - as in already plated with so very little of anything good, like bread, to eat. A waste, really. While the room was clean, it was so old-fashioned and in need of a reno (the tub was new though,) but hand held shower and no shower curtain, so this was disappointing. The lady at reception seemed run off her feet and it was a bit of an "issue" to get our car out of the car park. Mera, who seemed to do everything, was helpful, kind and very nice. We ate in their dining room and the food was delicious. We loved that the cats were allowed to roam around in/out of the dining area until the reception woman shooed them away.

I will not book another Hotel in Velico Tarnovo

1. LOCATION. This Hotel looks to be in the heart of the town. 2.THE VIEW. Incredible panorama of the town and surroundings. 3. THE FLAVOUR. The medieval look is overwhelming. 4. PARKING. Despite the narrow street, the host provide safe parking free spot. 5. THE STAFF. Professional, friendly, ready to support the guest. 6. THE ROOM. Very confortable, Very big for the price , Very cozy, Very clean, Very quiet. 7. UTILITIES AND FACILITIES. Modern elevator,The hot water is very hot, the cold water is very cold, king size bed, confortable mattress, Balcony with chairs and table, Air conditioning, heating, large and flat TV, Sofa and coffee table, minifridge, bugnet, WIFI everywhere, free toiletries, and other 8. THE RESTAURANT. Traditional look, traditional and tasty food, Professional staff, You need reservation moustly durring week-end and holidays diner. Breakfast included in the price of the room. 9. THE DRINKS. Very good bulgarian beer, brandy, wine 10. OVERALL. This hotel is everything you can get talking about traditional experience.

The single TV channels nonbulgarian is CNN and MTV. In Bulgaria TV shows are doubled, so you can hear only bulgarian language watching anything on TV.
