We have stayed 4 times in the hotel so we do like it overall, however i‘m not sure the hotel will be able to compete with nearby alternatives in the future.
The good
-nice design hotel
-nice views over the ocean
-food average to good
-nice pool
-nice private beach
The bad
Strange maneurisms:
-we asked to switch to a room with a balcony with a roof because travelling with a baby, which apparently was super complicated and in the end wasnt possible. However, our friend checked in 1 day later and stayed with us until the same checkout date in exactly such a room. So it would actually have been very easy.
-the pool, the beach, the beach restaurant or the beach bar were sometimes randomly closed half of the day or multiple ours prior to official time without explanations. Granted it was off season, bit thats not acceptable for a five star hotel.
-Not very well cleaned: sharp shrapnels and garbage at the beach, etc. Again, not that bad, but not acceptable for this price range
-Friendliness: some employees are super friendly, others not so much. Especially the security guards and beach boys left us feeling not welcome multiple times. Again, normal for italy - but not acceptable in this price range
Conclusion:
While the design, the views and private beach are great, strange maneurisms like facilities (beach, restaurants) randomly closing, sometimes unfriendly employees and substandard cleanliness limit the potential of the hotel.

The hotel was great. Food was good and staff very friendly. They had shuttle service into town which was very convenient. It was a bit pricy, but the stay was great. My only complaint is that they had no water toys, not even for rent. They also locked the ocean area at 7 pm and didn't open it again until 7am, so if you like to site by the water at night this is not the place for you. You are on top of a cliff and no way down once they locked it up.

Our room was very clean but had an antiseptic smell to it. The lighting needs to be improved. Basically 2 settings: very bright or near dark. The hallway carpets need to be replaced, they are worn and stained. This did not give a favourable first impression. There are lots of staff but we found them mostly too busy talking amongst themselves rather than being attentive to their guests. Sat at the pool for 4 hours and not once did the 3 staff at the pool bar , walk around asking if guests they would like a drink. The staffs knowledge of English is very limited compared to other European countries. The pool bartender told us it was 67 euros for 2 cocktails. We had to correct him. The beds are hard and the bedding is scratchy and stiff.

Not a 5 star. Room wasn’t up to standards, bathroom/shower not well kept (needs caulking, drain clogged, shower not adequate).
Comfortable bed, decent food, good breakfast, and the grounds are extraordinarily beautiful.

This is a fantastic hotel, the staff are so helpful, welcoming and friendly. The views are incredible and if you love architecture you will appreciate the artistry of Gio Ponti. We will return!

Rooms were great. The shower was dangerously skinny . You must stand basically with your feet 6 inches apart. Hard to balance and turn . Slippery. The pool closing at 7 when it’s still 32 out was a bit early. Not sure why that was. Otherwise good stay.

The best and what we were looking for when we booked this hotel was the beach! Perfect location very good fscilities and that was the main reason why we booked the hotel. It was very well located only 20’ walking to the city center. The restaurant at the beach club was excellent and the breakfast place had incredible views! We would chose it again

This was an amazing resort set on side of cliff. It was a 15 minute wslk to the town. The bar in lounge and at the beach were terrific. It was very quiet though, no one at pool and beach area pretty quiet too. Nightly music was lovely outside. Our weather wasnt great sadly and i guess early in season so hotel not too busy. But overall staff were nice and the resort is certainly worth seeing.

his was a very unique and beautiful hotel but our stay was complicated by some major problems.
The positives were that the hotel was visually stunning and had fascinating interior design reminiscent of classic 1960s Italy. It had a wonderful private beach area with a swimming cove, massive botanical gardens, and a chic swimming pool.
The problems started when I ate a fish sandwich prepared by the Blue Bar after checking in. After about 2 hours, my entire body developed an anaphylactic-like reaction. This is strange because I had never had food allergies before, but after going to the ER, we discovered it was due to histamine poisoning from improperly stored fish. This may have been due to improper handling by the fishermen, so it may not have been directly a result of the hotel's food safety, but they should still take responsibility and obtain their food from reputable sources. They didn't even have the courtesy to remove the sandwich from my bill.
After getting back from the hospital, we noticed the rancid smell of sewage permeating throughout our entire room. We brought this up to staff and they simply sprayed a perfume to unsuccessfully mask the odor. We also noticed that this was not unique to our room, and to a lesser degree also affected common areas such as the lobby, elevators down to the beach, and the gym.
At the end of the stay, we were very excited to check out and move to a different hotel where we were not made sick by the food or the smells.

Absolutely amazing hotel! I love architecture, nature and history, and this beautiful hotel was everything! Gio Ponti designed it in the early 60's in a beautiful park that was a royal place for the Bourbons. Each room has its OWN unique blue/white floor tiles designed by Gio Ponti. Sitting high up over the Bay of Naples , the hotel and restaurant have views of Capri to the left and Vesuvius to the right. There is a private beach and seaside area with sun loungers down on the water via an elevator. Can't wait to visit again!

Everything was perfect since we arrived. The staff were so kind going above and beyond at every step, the room had a beautiful view—it’s a bit far from the city but apparently they have a shuttle you can ask for in advance. We stayed in a room with partial seaside view but instead we got a full view! It was as pictured, with a terrace and view to ourselves. Even if you don’t get a room with a view, they have outdoor seating with the most amazing view, and there’s beautiful live music in the evenings from 8-8:30pm. They also have their private seaside/beach area and pool open to guests—many other beaches in the area are not free, while the hotels is both private and free for guests. When we went it was nearly empty, very private, and breathtaking beauty.

The view from our sea-facing room was magnificent, as were the grounds - beautiful! Enjoyed only breakfast there as the dinner menu was a bit too adventurous for us. Somewhat basic room accommodations, but slept well & enjoyed the view. As first-timers to Sorrento on a larger itinerary, did not realize the location was further from downtown than we desired but there is a shuttle. All personnel were fabulous - excellent service.

Beautifully designed hotel by Gio Ponti. It was wonderful to see the original modernist furniture in wonderful renovated condition. The service was superb, professional and cheerful. The decor is very bright with a marine theme, lots of original ceramic tiles as if new. The elevated sea view of the Bay of Naples is immaculate.

No one told us but they are remodeling. Couldn’t sleep in or nap due to JACKHAMMERS going all day. Toilet kept running phone broken so couldn’t call desk. Stunning views but such a popular place they knew they didn’t need our business. When I asked to speak yo a manager he was out back smoking a cigarette. The begrudgingly bought us a free drink at the bar. That was it. Not worth the $375 a night.

We enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely consider staying at the same place again. The only thing that would make it better is if you had a free shuttle to the center of town. Grazie

Great view of the sea at breakfast. I was expecting more for a 5 star hotel. When we checked in, the staff was rude. They did not provide any information about the breakfast or shuttle. I had to ask about it. Good thing I knew to ask about it or else I would have never known. We also did not get the room we had reserved and paid for in advance. It is a 15 minute walk from the center of town which is ok to do in the day not at night. The shuttle only runs from 9:10am-6:55pm.
