Beautiful historic hotel. We had such a nice anniversary weekend escape.

Thanksgiving here was wonderful. Hotel already beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Upkeep needed. Wallpaper was coming off the wall and the shower headwall cap was dangling off the wall. Also, I had expected a little bit better room as it was labled "Premium" and it was no bigger than any other hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was simply a hotel room with 2 queen beds. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable and staff was very accomadating.

Beautiful hotel. Heat/air was so noisy we had to turn it off probably because it’s a historic hotel but still. Not happy about how they charged us $28 for using our credit card to pay without even telling us they were going to do it.

The room I had was very loud as it was facing an area across from the train station(307) I did not fall asleep till 4 am due to the sound of the trains roaring by and the accompanying train whistle. This is a beautiful historic hotel. The staff is wonderful, the rooms immaculate. But it gets an average rating due to the noise factor. For the price I paid, I expected a good nites sleep. If you are planning on staying here, request a room away from t he side that faces the Red Wing Shoe Company . Also, the side that faces Highway 61 is also quite loud. Request the top floor if you get that side( at least you won’t hear trains all night)

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. The building’s historic aspect was unique and very interesting. It has been beautifully restored.

The room was a lot smaller and not the room I chose at booking.

Unfortunately while we had the Hotel.com reservation confirmation number, the hotel did not have the reservation. No rooms available at the St. James. Fortunately they located a hotel in the area for us.

Extremely limited menu options in Scarlet Letter Restaurant in Evening. Made option challenges tough. Waiter(India) had to work for 15-20 minutes to bring our Wine selection to table. Manager had to go to Cellar to fetch it. Higher price selections under lock and key? Room(Capitol) was roomy but “lumpy” floor. Must be sitting on “split” between new and classic phases of Hotel. It was pleasant to revisit after a 20 year hiatus. Pricing about what was expected. Sunday Morning dining options offsite were very limited. Religious reasons? Had to go to Lake City for Breakfast.

The St James Hotel is a wonderful historic place to stay- the rooms are large with a dignified, genteel feel.
The hotel is centrally located and walkable to many destinations.

It was a beautiful property. Had a few issues. Found blood on the sheets and whirlpool was dirty. Couldn't watch tv as cabinet door made it hard to watch

Quaint, charming, but rather worn hotel.

Room M122. The room was very nice, but it smelled a bit musty. We arrived late and didn't seem like the AC was working; looked at the heating/AC unit and wasn't able to adjust and no wall control either.

We loved the hotel and area, we were there with a group of friends on a motorcycle trip, beautiful ride. We loved the port, Lori was awesome and remembered everyone's drinks from the night before! The ladies did some shopping, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel and area!

Wonderful classic hotel in a wonderful town.

Property and the room were awesome! They’ve done a good job keeping it updated but looking historic. The bar downstairs was very cool and the main restaurant was good. Only issue we had was the AC was leaking a bit so by the evening the floor next to the bed was wet.

Staff was rude and non welcoming.
And unacomadating.

Totally got a room that was a closet!!
Paid over three hundred for a room that has no view and I kept hitting my knees on the bed post just walking around the room because it was so small. Complete bate and switch. Every room is different but they post the best room you can receive not the standard room in each grouping. Cool hotel but you dont have to stay to check it out.
Rudest customer service ever!!

Everything was great, staff, food, room. Awesome bartender in the lower level.

The room was not what the pictures in the app reflect. Very small indeed with a view over the garbage skips. However OK for one night - and good linen. I had a good nights sleep

The staff was very quick and polite. Our room is appointed in a Victorian fashion with modern amenities. Our bed is extremely comfortable!

A great place to stay. We enjoyed the old downtown part of Red Wing. A beautiful city along the Mississippi. The hotel is right along the river and nice shops close by. The trains go by betweennthe hotel and river but were never a problem.
Great staff. My wife was very happy, that's all I need to say!

We enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect!

The place was very nice, but we could hear way more through the adjacent walls than in any other place we’ve stayed. Also the bed was so high that we needed a step stool and the bed was much too soft.
