Unreal. Simply surreal. The staff, location, views and vibe are beyond all expectations. I cannot thank 1 Hotel enough for making a solo birthday trip into the best vacation of my entire life.

Beautiful property. Unreal view

We spent two nights - wedding night and casual day following despite having a home in Princeville. We had not stayed at the hotel since its renovation (old St. Regis) and it was absolutely stunning. It's very expensive but the quality makes it worth every penny. They gave us an astounding room looking over Bali Hai at sunset and we could have stayed for weeks with that view. Kudos to staff, the kitchen, and housekeeping. Could not have been nicer.

This facility is absolutely stunning with one of the best views on the island. The staff was amazing, friendly and accommodating (except for the concierge). My only complaint was I really missed having a bathroom. These rooms do not come with a bathroom. Our shower was completely open, with no shade or screen for any privacy. Although, that may not be a big deal to the majority of honeymooners who are visiting here, this got old for my husband and I in about 5 min. Also, being the sink is in the middle of the room, if you are blow drying your hair the other person cannot watch TV or anything. The only place to hide is the toilet with the pocket door. In my opinion, this room is really pretty but it is not functional. When I requested a screen for the shower the concierge just gave me a “your SOL” look. Also, breakfast is the way to go at 1 Kitchen, dinner… not so much. The kitchen seems to get overwhelmed pretty easily. Our apps came in 30 seconds before our main course, the recipes were not well thought out. That said, the staff again was amazing. I do recommend staying here, just know what you’re getting into.

The facility is beautiful and the service was top notch. Food great too!

This is a hotel that benefits from being in one of the most stunning locations in Kauai and the location alone can help you forgive some of the shortcomings. It is advertised as 5 star but I would say it is at best a 4 star hotel with 2 star service. We found it almost strange that basic things like cleaning rooms or emptying bins seemed beyond the staff. Standard rooms are spacious but lack any place for drying clothes which is odd for a beachside resort. When questioned if the hotel had any facilities (eg laundry room - common in all resorts we have stayed in) they seemed almost surprised and said they had hotel dry cleaning available for us to send our swim wear to. The concierge service was never available. Booking anything almost impossible with responses via email or text. Fire alarms were a constant problem due to guests ignoring smoking rules and the hotel unable to manage the situation. Restaurants were over priced for value and given the standard of food available from Hanalei town 10 mins drive away not worth considering.

While the property grounds and the views are amazing, the hotel staff is in need of either more help or more training. We enjoyed our stay and would come back however it does not have a 5 star resort feel. Valet staff and the host for the bar were the most welcoming staff we interacted with.

We had a great stay. 1 Kitchen restaurant and staff were great. Spa (Masseuse Machiko) and Concierge (Paul), were great.
Weline restaurant needs better service....it took too long to get our food here.
They need to stalk their bike fleet with kids bikes.
Overall, we had a great stay.

Really restful stay. Its been recently refurbished - so all the facilities are sparkling new!
Also reflects the chill atmosphere of the island.
Wish the parking/valet costs were not mandatory - would make things feel a bit more cost efficient.
Will stay again and probably also try their other locations.

The most beautiful hotel we’ve ever been to. Everything was intentionally thought through. The staff were amazing and the views from every angle of the hotel were breathtaking. We will definitely be back.

My recent stay at 1 Hotel in Kauai, Hawaii, was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in luxury and beauty. The resort is incredibly swanky, with meticulously maintained grounds that make you feel like you've stepped into a tropical paradise.
The private beach is simply the most amazing beach I've ever experienced. The crystal-clear waters and pristine sands provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and fun. We spent hours basking in the sun and enjoying the serene atmosphere.
The food at the resort was absolutely delightful. Every meal was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and creativity. The staff at 1 Hotel were incredibly helpful and polite, always going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Special thanks to the manager, Nicholas Gold, who made our stay exceptionally comfortable. Nicholas was always available to assist us with any requests, making us feel truly valued and cared for.
If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to add a few more dinner entrees to the 1 Kitchen menu, which also serves as the in-room dining menu. Having a bit more variety would elevate the dining experience even further.
Overall, 1 Hotel Kauai is a paradise on earth. The impeccable grounds, stunning private beach, delectable food, and outstanding staff make it a must-visit destination. I cannot wait to return for another unforgettable stay!

This hotel is in a beautiful location. However, as other travelers have noted - it’s severely understaffed and this can lead to excessive wait times uncharacteristic of a 5 star hotel - line of 5 couples waiting to be seen to check in. They also kept texting me another guests information. Lastly their hot tub was so severely over chemicalized that it bleached my and my partners swimsuit and caused us to feel nauseous

Really great transformation of the St Regis. Beautifully redone everywhere including the rooms in a modern Hawaiian style. Great service and fantastic restaurants

Excellent interior design choices, very attentive staff and stunning views from our oceanside room. Room was laid out perfectly, with beds out of site of the room door (so no hallway light keeping us awake), clear view of the bay and mountains on the other side of the bay from natural laying positions on the bed, perfect stone and wood finishes that echoed the nature around us, endless filtered water in the room. I could go on.

Incredible location, friendly staff, nice rooms and hotel layout. Bad food! The restaurants over priced and breakfast and terrace food tasted pre-prepared and reheated (like a Starbucks). Go into town for food. Lots of options and fresh!!

Such a special and beautiful location, we look forward to our next visit. It just feels like home. Clean and comfortable and friendly staff.

Location is great. Beach is fantastic. Service at hotel needs improve from 3star to 5star, especially when charging 5 star rates.

One of our biggest complaints is the lack of ice - The room comes stocked with a mini bar - great - (very small bottle of vodka is $165) there are NO ice machines anywhere. You have to email / chat / call for it to be delivered - More than half of the time we never received ice. When we did it was an hour plus to get a melting half bucket. We ended up buying ice in town several times. Item 2 - We were staying there for a week after already staying on the Big Island for a week - We saw they had laundry service - great! Add up the cost of a basic small load (charged by the piece) and it is $250 or more. We paid over $8000 for 6 nights - Even the most basic hotels have ice machines on each floor and washers and dryers for the guest's use. Item 3 - The last issue is the in-room coffee - they have a really nice espresso machine however the biodegradable eco coffee pods they give you are ALWAYS stale and it takes 3 pods to get half of a cup of barely drinkable coffee. The Four Seasons we stayed at prior had the exact same machines and unbelievable coffee and espresso - made with normal name brand pods. Overall it is a nice hotel with deficiencies that are so correctable with the slightest bit of effort and forethought during the recent remodel. On a brighter note - the valet guys were outstanding! They literally run to get your car and were worth a nice tip each time! We are definitely coming back to Kauai - but not to 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

This hotel was absolutely stunning- from the views to the interior design we loved everything about it! We will definitely be coming back

Stunningly beautiful facility. Very new, clean, everything beautiful to look at, and amazing views.
Took a star off because it is kind of a stuffy place. Some of the staff was super friendly, some seemed like they had their noses turned up and didn’t want to be bothered. Tried calling concierge multiple days in a row, never got through, no voicemail was set up. Asked for room advice, lady was really unfriendly and said the most expensive rooms are the best, and would you really want to come all this way and not have the best? Seemed like a tone deaf answer when some rooms are more than double the cost.
The outside of the windows in the rooms need to be cleaned more often. They are dirty and makes for a hazy view.
One of the most beautiful properties I’ve stayed at, but just didn’t care for the vibe of some of the people and staff there, so probably wouldn’t go back.
Room tip: request a room higher and more towards the middle if you have a Mountain View. If you are low your view will be blocked by trees and landscaping by, and if you’re at the end you’ll be looking at a lot of empty fields. Towards the middle you’ll see a lot more ocean.

Nice enough place, good staff, but simply very expensive for what it was, so bad value for money.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views from everywhere. Room was small for the price and not put together in a way to store bags well. No screens allowed bugs to freely come in (they attached a leftover sushi roll in seconds!)
The biggest change I would like to see is an overhaul of the menus in both restaurants. It would be nice to eat at the hotel and we tried, but the menus are strange and fairly unappetizing.

Incredible and extremely quality property! Great restaurants on site! Great pools (adult infinity pool as well as family friendly pool down by the beach)! And great private beach. This property is worth every penny.

Beautiful resort, amazing location. Genuinely felt like staying on a remote island. Quiet and peaceful. However, extremely annoying that valet is the only option for parking and is $50 a day, when staying up there practically requires that you have a car to travel with. Also, we were told the buffet was included with the room we rented, but then they charged us for it every day and I had to ask for it to be removed. It happened again the day we left and I had to call once we were home to have that charge removed again. Just annoying and felt like multiple people weren’t doing their job properly.

Great facilities and amazing views from the hotel.
