This place was interesting. The staff were terrific. Front desk and breakfast hostess superior. Because of this, initial impressions were great.
Then came the room. Not as good. In dire need of updating except for the bed which was pretty comfy. There was a car outside our room that had 2 flat tires and had been keyed on one side. Obviously has been sitting there awhile. However, they were actively updating rooms around us as we were there. If the rooms all improve, so will your experience.

Hotel needs update, light in bathroom burned out. Only one person working in the morning. Most breakfast items gone by 7:30am. No one working the breakfast area to replenish items. Coffee pots empty. People disgruntled in the breakfast area.

The hotel listed that i got a smoking room..theres no smoking rooms. I think they did that, thinking that would attract more people. The dirty yellow chair from the 70s can go in trash. They need to fix elevator. Makes a loud screeching noise. Front desk clerk, needs to be more welcoming. Smile!. WILL NOT RETURN.

This was our 8th time staying there over the last 7 years. Last year we noticed the rooms were getting way old and tired and soiled. We decided to stay one more time before Labor Day....and we were surprised that they were redoing the rooms and ours was so much better than last year. The staff was amazing and friendly (especially Andrea) The breakfast area was so clean and the ladies overseeing it was so nice and friendly. Glad Hamptonis finally in the process of updating this hotel...as it needed it. We will stay there again the next time we go up

Room needs some updates, some parts looking pretty scruffy, e.g., bathroom area.
Also, those $%@ in room heaters/AC units are a perpetual pain. Too hot, too cold, too loud, on and off a lot. 8(
For the cost/night, which I get is impacted by location, season, I might expect a bit more.
That said, the young woman who worked at the Front Desk during the day was wonderful. She helped us with a number of needs, and was kind, calm, patient as she did so. Great job. I'm embarrassed that I can't recall her name.

Dirty, filthy floors, musty smell, elevator that gets stuck traveling up 2 flights. Old, overpriced. Choose others in nearby area. Never again.

Nice place to stay while in South Haven. I love thay you can bring your pet if needed. The rooms were nice and clean. The bed was very soft. The breakfast was alright.

The stay was great until the last night when I came back to the room and found that it had not been cleaned by housekeeping. But what makes it worse? Is that first starters, the owner? Ask me if I wanted my room cleaned and I told him yes. The Housekeeping Staff number was in the room across the hall from mine and I told them after I leave please do my room next. They shook their head yes in agreement. And then I left for the day. When I came back late that night after 11 PM. I found my room absolutely disgusting from not having been cleaned at all. The towels that were used for bathing. We're still there. The dirty linen from the bed will still on the floor where I have put it because it had got too hot. It became very sweaty until the air was turned on. On top of that, after I pulled the linen off, I saw that the bed head that reddish mold in places. In addition to this, throughout the past couple days, I thought it was odd that I saw the number of bugs that were in my room of all sorts. There was a millipede that was caught in a complimentary plastic cup and put on to the bed before I left. I told them About the bed and the bug problem before I left for the day. They were the only staff person who made this trip in any way negative. Everyone else was overly accommodating, professional, amazing and everything that a customer could want and more.

Hotels.com and Hampton did not have our reservation upon arrival. Despite confirmation by Hotels.com. Disappointing and won’t use a third party again to book. Hotel staff, however was able to get us a room. Very grateful for that.

Very outdated. Heat in room very loud, shower barely worked, breakfast so so and twice had no coffee, strange odors in halls, missing wall paper, etc. Needs a freshen up! Staff very friendly and nice. Just on the old side.

Nice amenities, the pool was clean and they had good breakfast options. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a small problem with our room, we talked to the manager and she fixed the issue promptly and took good care of us.

Nice room. I have Arthritis, so we always get a room with a handicap bathroom, this one was very good. It even had a seat that can be used to help with dressing in the bathroom.

Our fault for unknowingly booking a handicapped accessible room & our fault for not asking for something else. Uncomfortable staying in a room with features we didn’t need that perhaps someone else did. Otherwise, it was a comfortable stay. The included breakfast was versatile with an amazing person that went out of her way to accommodate. Above and beyond. Downside is not very walkable to anything.

I had called in transit to this hotel and asked the clerk by the name of Andrea of where to eat and have an adult beverage. She suggested the most best place for my needs. As she suggested to have dinner at the Black River Tavern in Downtown i South Haven. After I parked the car outside of the Tavern in beautiful downtown South Haven, I noticed a red lighthouse off in the cold distance. It wasn't that cold and not far from the Tavern. So I walked all the way out to the lighthouse, said hello to my favorite Great Lake, Lake Michigan and walked back to the Tavern. Which felt like home, Great food and left with a memory I'll never forget.

During out trip to Michigan we stayed at 3 different hotels and by far the Hampton was the best by far. Will always pick Hampton before any others if available. Keep up the good vibes

We didn’t like the noise at 12:30-2:30am from a bunch of people down in the picnic area right below our room. And we were unable to find staff at check out to be sure they were aware that we were leaving. We finally left our room keys under a rock on the front desk.
