Good option for city centre stay at an affordable price, especially if coming by train as it is literally across the road.

Really handy for the train station and able to leave bags both days which was great. Lots of pubs and dining very close. Hotel surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. Most staff helpful and friendly. Rooms basic and shower was old-fashioned. Good basic hotel. Location was a good enough reason to select.

I arrived at the hotel after midnight. The checking staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was clean with coffee making facilities with tea and coffee provided.
The bathroom is quite old fashioned and could do with updating but was clean and had toiletries provided

Room was good. Could have done with extra pillows but tbf, we didnt request so my fault i guess.

The stay was alright , very near to the train station so very convenient .

The hotel is very well located right by the station and in the centre of town.
I arrived early and was charged £1 to store an item of luggage, the first time in my extensive travels that this has ever happened. When I returned and checked in, I was given a room key, but when I got there, the room clearly wasn't ready. This was quickly remedied. On my 2nd night there the lift would not ascend without me having to get assistance from the receptionist, who said he would report the problem. On the morning I left, there was no hot water in my room. As I was in a hurry to catch my train, I could only report this to reception on my way out.

Great stay ideal for whet we needed. Bed comfy and spacious room

I was in Leeds this week for a conference and reasonably priced hotel rooms were in limited supply — most prices hiked up to well over £200.
The Discovery hotel offered rooms at £87 via this site.
The hotel is conveniently located, opposite the railway station and surrounded by a variety of food outlets and bars. From its outward appearance, it is bleak — faded and utilitarian, having all the charm and style of suburban Council offices. Reception is light and airy but with a similar feel.
Check in was efficient and my room, on the 6th floor, with the lift only going as far as 5, was clean yet charmless.
It was a long narrow room with space around the bed. This could have been improved by relocating the wardrobe unit that had been crammed into the space one needed to get through to get past the bed and into the room. Other niggles: the TV had limited signal and none of the channels were watchable due to the picture and sound continually glitching. I gave up in the end. Also, a minor point - huge gap in the curtains of one of the two windows letting in lots of light.
Good points. The bed was comfortable — I slept well; the room was well stocked with spare pillows and towels; the heating was excellent — I was cosy; and the shower was good, not exceptional, but not a disappointment as some hotel showers can be.
Overall, I was satisfied with my stay. It met my needs. Was it worth the money? I’d expect my TV to work for £87, but relatively speaking, it was a steal.

Well appointed room which was well furnished ,neat and roomy.

We were staying 3 nights to explore Leeds and catch up with each other. The room was big enough for us to stretch out a bit, warm and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but what could be improved upon is having a towel rail to hang wet towels on as we had to use the shower and bathroom door

Clean room. Continental breakfast had a fairly good selection.
The room was a bit warm when i got into it, but after turning the radiator down, it was fine.

The room stunk full of mould. Windows didnt open at all. Black mould around the windows. The place felt like a safety hazard. Extremely hard to find your way around. Lifts only go so far up. The stairs were blocked off by a door. So if a fire happened you're trapped. The only positive was the staff were all super friendly and helpful. But the building itself is in serious need of renovation. Speaking of which they had workmen inside the hotel using drills at 7am. Absolutely ridiculous when trying to sleep in a little longer. Not that the room was breathable with mould. That made me throw up. I stayed out as late as possible to avoid being in the room too long. Wouldn't stay there again though the location wasnt too bad.

Pros: v central location, minutes from station, nice staff, v clean linen, ok price, plenty of tea and coffee
Cons: rusty fixtures, smelt odd, dirty shower (plug hole full of hairs), some dusty surfaces. A bit noisy but there are works opposite and extractor fans.Room needs a repaint, new fixtures and deep clean and it'd be great! Whoever made this 10/10 needs to go to spec savers. Paid £65 for pn for a double room.

I had room 136 which has a large window directly over the street. Due to the noise outside from people screaming and shouting, cars revving their engines, and night traffic out was impossible to sleep. Asked for some ear plugs as anticipated a bad night but the hotel didn't have any and the pharmacies were closed at the end. Hotel was fine but the room location was very bad.

So, the hotel is literally opposite the train station, making it perfect for getting off, what was in our case, a 6 hour train journey and just getting to chill out.
We had a twin room as it was my son and me. We were visiting the railway museum in York so being close to the station was important. It was very good value for money, the room was clean (maybe a little tired in places) and perfectly functional for our needs for a two night stay.
The guy on the front desk was the only person we saw - at 9.30pm when we checked in, and 7am when we checked out - someone needs to give him a break! He was very friendly and informative.
Our room was on the 8th floor. This does mean having to take a lift tomlevel three, walking through the corridors to the other side of the building, then taking another lift to the higher floors - worth noting if you have a lot of luggage.
We didn't have breakfast there, but it's Leeds so plenty of choice if you don't fancy the continental option they offer, there are loads of food options within a 5 minute walk. We only took pictures of the staircases - they're pretty cool.

This weekend stay was during the rugby Magic Weekend so hotel prices were crazy. The hotel was opposite the train station and not far from the city centre so it was convenient. It is a fairly basic hotel with no bar and limited catering but it is conveniently positioned.

Convenient and nice for short stay

This is a no frills, budget hotel, so in terms of facilities it’s basic. But staff are lovely and it’s cheap and very convenient for train station and Leeds city centre. Also felt safe. There are some great eating places within 2mins. I extended my stay from 1 night to 3 as it suited me so well. The breakfast is perfectly adequate.

There was a long strand of hair in the bathtub. Non blackout curtains meant light streamed in, charged to store luggage prior to checkin despite being a guest. Nice bed, strong shower, handy location, but wouldn't use it again

Staff were excellent, very helpful. Now the bad- daughter found what can only be described as bugs egg on pillow - so disgusting she nearly threw up. Bath had mould on it. Room was ok. Very noisy around hotel as bars/clubs open till 3-3.30 so difficult to get sleep but that’s not hotels fault.

It does what it is well. This is budget accommodation in an old building with the quirks you get from that. I used it as a crash pad and it did the job. I was 914 a twin which is trailed as the 9th floor but is 5 floors up which requires two lifts and a fair walk between them. No Aircon and a window that opened onto a fire escape with little natural light. The room was basic but had a TV with some Freeview channels, an old built in hairdryer and en suite which needs updating. That said it was cleaned every day, was cheap and in a perfect location. Go with an open mind for what you are getting and it's a bargain. Second stay for me.

This property is the worst I’ve ever stayed in, no frills doesn’t prepare you for the shabbiness of the rooms. Carpet was scrunched up thread bare and what felt like a large stone underneath it. Bath had black scuffs in bottom and brown marks plus bits of mould. Room had an odour which seemed to cling to my clothes. On the plus we could leave our luggage in the lobby for a cost of £1 per case. Didn’t do breakfast so cannot comment. I appreciate it is a low budget hotel but it really was awful, perhaps I had a bad room as other reviews have seemed more positive than mine, L Squires

The property takes your credit card details & I didn't like it.
The TV didn't work in the room.

It's a little threadbare, but for £60 it's good value and the staff were nice.

Very convenient for train station and city centre. Downside terribly noisy from wild drunken guests banging on doors and yelling in the early hours. Scary!

Excellent short stay for concert

Easy access from station a short walk away. There is major building work going on opposite until next year , althoughh being at the back did not affect me. Works outside with pavement closed and scaffolding made it very difficult for pedestrian access especailly with cases , Although this is no fault of the hotel.
My only complaint is that the was an arguamnt outside our room and then a male banging on a door so hard it appeared he was trying to kick it in. I called reception from my mobile and soemone came to my door asking what had occurred before going off to invetsigate. I was very suprised when i raised the issue with morning reception that he was unaware of the incident and said he would check the CCTV and speak to night reception.

We have stayed at this hotel absolutely loads of times but sorry to say this will be the last, yes I know you only get what you pay for but other guests had no consideration for people trying to sleep when shouting, screaming and banging doors at 4:00 am, rooms are also run down in need of modernisation

The cleaners didn't wipe down all things in the room went for a no 2 in the toilet the first day and never cleaned the toilet the day I left

I travel to Leeds for work every week. DiscoveryInn is my last option. I tend to face one or other issue ( no hot water or heater not working, noisy room, could hear sound from upper floor etc)

The staff are also so friendly and accommodating. Lovely place to stay
