I booked Straton resort, the address was 5 Village lodge, Straton, VT. When I arrived, I was told to check in at Black Bear Lodge, 61 Middle Road, Straton, VT. When I was on your web site (Hotels.com) the picture shows the main lodge, that is where I expected to stay, not some back lot lodge, with a basement room and ground level view of the parking lot. Talk about bait and switch, if I could have gone to another hotel I would have.

The beds were high and little hard. The toilet is too small for average adult. I think need to reassess the layout of the bathrooms.
Fix the door latches and locks.
Quite time in the evening like 10 pm to 6 am.

Need to have some place to warm up food if you check in late

Room could use a coffee maker and a microwave.

Was hoping for outdoor space/firepit

Nice hotel and nice place, but needs some renovation (the carpets are very old) and needs a swimming pool. Also it would be great to have a coffee machine in room.
5.0
Solid comfortable lodging for the price.
3.0
Definitely a low end hotel - and not cheap. The carpet was gross and needed to be replaced. Bathroom needed an update. Was close to village - so liked that we could walk there easily.

This is the third time we have stayed at the black bear lodge in Stratton and every time we stay our experience is the same.. excellent. The staff are all so nice and accommodating, the property is clean and the breakfast is perfect. The rooms are comfortable and clean, it really is the perfect place to stay in Vermont. See you in October.

Dated room with old carpet . Bathroom is newer and nice . Can hear noice in the hallway. Breakfast is average . Only stay for the convenience of walking distance to the lift (less than 10 minutes. There are shuttle bus to the base every 15 minutes.

Parking is convenient. Room is clean and room.
Rooms do not have a refridgerator.
Restaurant has a limited menu, somewhat pricey.

No Fridge? $700+ and no fridge?

Over priced for $300 a night. Shuttle service was good. Booked for convenience of bar /restaurant on the premises and shuttle to skiing.
Returned from skiing and wanted dessert. My son and his girlfriend raved about the skillet brownies . The bar/ restaurant posted closing time was 10 but they closed at 9 with no explanation. Sign literally by door.
Saw the bartender he made a joke when I asked why he closed an hour early. Told me there’s a 7-11 down the road that’s open.
I had ski ticket questions about using machine in their lobby. Front desk girls had no idea, told us we had to take shuttle to customer service.
We were on 2nd floor, tried to get drinks from vending machines, all were out of service on 2nd floor and lobby level. I said something to front desk a she said she had no idea but try downstairs. We had to walk multiple flights of stairs from room to basement. Elevator not in our area.

The location

Black Bear Inn is a fantastic place to stay. A bit overpriced, but super close to stratton mountain

room had no safe, fridge, microwave or coffee pot. Tub very slippery with no rubber shower mat. Breakfast was good however.

This property is well located and corresponds to the description. However, it would need to be refurbished from the old carpet in the bedrooms, the old furniture to the smelly gas fireplace in the common areas. The hotel is stuck in the 80s. The quality of the food served at breakfast is really bad and the restaurant is really below average (old french fries and salad, overcooked steak for $44...). So, a bit disappointing I must say. But it is 5mn from the slopes.

Nice staff, convenient shuttle to village and lifts
4.0
A great basic hotel close enough to Stratton base. Short walk or take the shuttle. Walk is up hill so harder for skiers. Clean and had decent breakfast included. Arrived on a Friday evening, so parking was a challenge. They don’t seem to have enough spots when they are full.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included and very good .

Mattress was super hard.. very noisy at night and not sound proof .. we could hear everything around.
Food and service were great but we didn’t sleep well at all. Which we needed since we were there for a ski race ..
the lack of parking at the hotel was also an issue..

The place could use some updates but other than that it was fine.

Nice close option with the quickest shuttle

The Black Bear Lodge was very nice. Stayed mid-week, the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable - the only things that really matter for a short stay. They run a shuttle to the mountain every 10 minutes or so and drop you off right at the door - a great amenity. Also had dinner in the restaurant - it was good and very convenient. I recommend the place.

For $400 per night, this hotel and breakfast looks like an old ski camp. Very disapointed.

The AC was loud but bearable. Facility was clean and comfortable. Daily housekeeping was top notch!
4.0
Very close to the mountain with a convenient shuttle service that runs every 5 - 10 mins. Breakfast included with rate
Staff are polite and try to be helpful.
Surprisingly the lodge does not have a laundry room which would have been convenient to dry out ski clothes.
5.0
The staff was very helpful and there was a great selection of food in the restaurant they had on site. It was my third year in a row staying there and there was nothing bad about it. I enjoyed the stay very much.

I recommend it

Nice, but dated and well used. Towels, sheets and bed are comfy.
