Fantastic views across the Bay of Naples towards Vesuvius. Nice pool (chilly in Oct) and friendly, helpful staff.
Hotel is a little tired (in need of a spruce up) and quite noisy (footsteps and voices carry everywhere it seems).
Great base for a roadtrip around Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi coast and Sorrento, with free on site parking.

Our first impression of the hotel was that it was very dated. The welcome on reception could have been warmer. The rooms are basic.
We booked bed and breakfast and I’m glad we did because the breakfast was good but the restaurant menu for the evening was pretty sad and uninspiring. We ate one night after a long day we couldn’t face going out again, it was ok.
The views from the property are stunning. The pool is large and we enjoyed using it, however the first three days we were there they ran out of sunlongers, if you weren’t at the pool by 9.30 you weren’t going to get to sit down which was awful for those people with children who were unable to use the facility. The congestion eased towards the end of the stay.
You really need a car to use this hotel. It is on the outskirts of the local town and not easy to get anywhere other than a small handful of restaurants on foot. It is right next to a noisy road which, inexplicably, has emergency vehicles with sirens going practically all times of day and night.
The free shuttle service run by the hotel to Sorrento and Vico Equenese is a bonus.
We had a great holiday because we had a car and managed to get out and see the area but I don’t think you’d want to use this hotel if you didn’t.
If you do go make sure you visit the marina where there are some really lovely, reasonably priced restaurants. The walk down, and especially back up, is not for the faint hearted though…

A nice swimming pool, car parking and access is one of the best compared to the surroundings. The rooms are a little dated but clean. The views are amazing.

There was an error with reservation and they immediately comped us two rooms. Nice facility and good breakfast which I thought wasn't included but they gave it to us views were the best. Beds were comfortable. The only drawback was the very tight and limited parking.

great hotel in a very nice location en-route to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. Rooms are a little dated but the views if you go for a sea view make up for that, the only downside was a rather limited breakfast with poor quality products. But on the plus side the poor area was extremely nice and relaxing, if traveling by car good parking too, nice stay overall

Great transport access, very nice area, the facilities were great and nice and friendly staff

Large room with a large balcony with an extraordinary view on the bay.
Unfortunately the hotel is located next to a road with with heavy and noisy traffic. The walls are thin and the hotel hosted celebrations 2 out of 3 nights with loud music.
Every morning we woke up by cleaning entering the room before 8 a.m

Searched for properties in Positano on Expedia. This came up as an option 6 kms away. There is not way to get to positano other than taxi is 1 hr and 120 euro each way. In 5 days to spent over 1000 euro on taxi to go see Almalfi area. The only good thing about this hotel is the view at the pool. It’s a great pool to take the kids. Also zero benefi for exoedia members.

Major Grip: They were over booked for the last day of our stay and asked us would we mind moving hotel; we agreed, thinking that, as we were helping them out, they would put us somewhere as good or better; BOY WERE WE WRONG !! The hotel was rated 4 Star but I don't know how. The first room shown was 45CM longer than the bed and not much more on either side. The next room was not much better but as it was our last day we settled, preferring not to waste any more time arguing. It was also over 300 steps up from Carpark to reception; not for the faint hearted; literally!! I could say more, lots!
Overall a lousy way to treat a guest who was doing you a favor !!
Other than that: The Moon Valley Hotel Itself is nice enough; Pool looked Good (Didn't use); Nice Views and one or two good restaurants around; but not much else; you have to travel to see anything. Probably a good spot for Tour Groups or if you’re Comfortable Driving in Italy, or just want to sit by a pool. There is a Train within easy walking; but if you have to use the train you are probably better off staying in Sorrento.

Great hotel and staff , rooms were clean, we had a visit from housekeeping each day they bed topped up bathroom supplies and had clean towels each day,
In a previous review it said that staff were grumpy, when in fact they weren’t they couldn’t have been more helpful if they tried.
Would recommend to anyone .

Superb place to stay to visit Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento, Vesuvius & Capri. About 400m from regular railway service. Incredible views from hotel. Highly recommend.

It was my second stay in Moon Valley, and I really wish to come back here next year.
This time I had a room with an incredible see panorama outside (with Vesuvius in background). I used to spent a lot of time near swimming pool. There were always enough place for every one. The staff took really care of us in any situations, helping in a very kindly way. The weather was fantastic and really enjoy to be there, resting and making a lot of trips om my own or in organised group. Thanks to good information and help from the receptions staff everything was easy to plan and complete.
I liked the breakfasts very much, but it was possible to have lunch and dinner too.

On arrival at the hotel as a family of 5 we were given 3 rooms on three different floors, not ideal when 1 member was in a room alone. There was minimal breakfast choice. The staff could be less grumpy and more approachable, and weekends seemed to be focused on wedding parties, we were not allowed sun shades up as it blocked wedding guests view of the bay considering it was 29 degrees, hotel guests were told to sit in the shade. Little info on bus/ train times, no sign of a free shuttle bus, so if we wanted to visit restaurants it meant paying horrendous taxi fees or walking and taking your life in your hands with the rude and crazy scooter/car users. Not a place we will be returning to.

Lovely hotel with brilliant views especially on the sea view side, hotel staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. Very well priced and easily accessible to many places on the Sorrento peninsula and Naples less than a hour away.Only downsides of the hotel are the occasional school visits to the hotel which mean a noisy night as the sound travels through the entire hotel when screaming and running down corridors. However the hotel staff are very good at dealing with any noise when it happens and will make sure the rest of your stay is pleasant.

Being about 400 metres from the train was important - used it for Naples, Sorrento and Pompei. If there was a change of public transport required we used a car. Our room was very clean and newly decorated. Really it was our base for a wonderful holiday so how could we criticise the place. We found the traffic noise of no consequence and with the coach parties in the hotel we ate out every evening in the local town Vico Equense (train back) or Sorrento(train or car). Great experience.
Ask in the Restaurants for travel advice - for instance how to travel to Amalfi and beyond.
Saga use the hotel which is a good recommendation.

Charged £ 10.00 a day for parking on the hotel premises and they gave us a room in a little side building with 25 steps and no elevator. When I showed the man at the counter the reservation showing the main hotel and a balcony, he first argued with me then did give us a room with individual single beds that kept opening and made it uncomfortable to sleep. I would not stay here again.

too short

A bit out of the way; absolutely nothing to do without taking the 10 minute walk to the train station first.
Hotel exterior and views are exquisite, though they closed the pool deck entirely for events two nights of our four night stay.
Rooms are sparsely furnished and a bit small, but may improve with more expensive options.
Staff is helpful, but only some front desk concierge staff members are multilingual. Not that we've a right to expect English, but just a warning going in that most workers there spoke only Italian.
Overall, great value for the money, clean but small. Beautiful location but out of the way. Would be perfect for anyone who enjoys a quiet evening in a picturesque setting.

The pool is huge and views from the pool are amazing. However a 7 pm closing is too early for that tlmw od year. Be prepared to pay 5 euro for a towel so bring your own.
Breakfast buffet was so so. Juices really sweet and watery and coffee like dishwater.....this is italy!
I had roon view of mountaina qith very large terrasse which was great ans quiet. However 2 small metal chairs and a small table made it quite uncomforrable. Actually moved sofa from hallway to balcony one night when friends visited.
Our friends had a room facing the ocean which was lovely but a bit noiser from traffic.
There was a frequent smell of smoke as locals all burn their yard waste.
We had a car and was charges 10 euro per night. Location of hotel not good to walk to restaurants, etc. And was quite remote.
Asked for a third night extension and got a 25% discount and free parking...definitely low season.
Had to pay 5euros for internet 12 hours. There was one old and slow computer available. Their wireless connection, only in lobby, was too slow. They did allow some free printing.
In an emergency, they would give ffee internet for a few minutes.
Did not eat dinner or lunch here but heard very mixed reviews.
Hotel is 70s retro style but spotless and bright. Some cool retro furniture and large collection of retro radios.
Grounds quite large and lush.
The best thinf about the hotel is the great views. From the rooms, by the elevators, and by the pool.

The hotel was very nice and the decor was beautiful. The bathing area was exellent with pools for both children and adults. Sunbeds were excellent with beautiful parasols. The only downfall for me was being charged 10 Euros per night for parking.
2.0 / 5.0
Firstly, getting to the hotel was more effort than we planned due to The Amalfi Coast's distance from Naples Airport. Yes, you can get coaches or a bus and train, but with luggage, wait times, transfers and the rest of it, we just opted for a taxi. Expect to pay between 70-100Euros. The hotel is in a quiet area a few train stops from Sorrento, called Seiano. It has a couple of restaurants nearby, which we were apprehensive to enter at first due to their external appearance - but don't let this deceive you! The food was fantastic and far more reasonably priced than the hotel's. The Steak House down the road and the pizza restaurant opposite the hotel's pool (out main door and to the right) were excellent. Whilst other reviews on trip advising websites state the rooms are inadequate, I would argue that these people do not travel much in Europe! The rooms were just fine for our needs and whilst admittedly could be a bit better maintained, were certainly good enough for our stay. The pool is superb. My only recommendation to the hotel would be to allow guests to use it at their discretion, as currently you have to vacate the area by 7pm?! Beautiful views and relaxing atmosphere will be experienced here. Careful on the drinks front however, as a vodka and lemonade will set you back a fiver each time! A can of coke is around 2.50. All in all, the staff were friendly, helpful, informative and we look forward to staying here again in the future.

this hotel far exceeded my expectations .
the air con was free and quiet and efficient
the staff lovely
the pool beautiful and the views lovely
not a lot within walking distance but well situated with good train service few mins walk away to sorrento or naples. very cheap trains and bus stop outside too
would recommend
but i would warn do not take a car as hardly any parking in area and very costly much better to use the trains or buses

Fantastic Hotel. We were given a fabulous room with a large balcony and awesome sea view. The pool is big and again excellent view of sea and vesuvius and mountains. Daily lunches on terrace by poll is really convenient. Train station nearby for trips to Sorrento and pompeii. Staff very friendly and accomodating and great for advice on where to eat etc.
We stayed for 1 week and cannot wait to go back.
well recommended

The hotel staff were absolutely exceptional and took care of us no end!!! The hotel is in the middle of no-where, however being so close to the train station means it is easy to get to sorrento or naples! I f you decide to stay here definately check out the lovely italien family run restaturant down a nearby alley, the chef is incredible and althought the restaurant was never busy when we went the ambience in there is lovely. If you want a great view and excellent service stay in this hotel!!!

Our room was on the first floor right in the corridor, which was extremely noisy. We could hear everything going on in the reception area, and all the comings and goings 24 hours a day; particularly bad when coach loads were arriving or departing at 4am in the morning, and early when the restaurant was being set up for breakfast, oh and when they were hosting an 18th birthday party. We were out all day but when we wanted peace to sleep we didn't get it. We did ask to move rooms but the receptionist said we'd paid for a budget room so budget was what we got - even though we hadn't asked for a budget room - just a standard twin room.
The food and drink in the hotel was very expensive; 15 EURO each for a plain salad; there are plenty of good places nearby for cheaper food and drink.
The pool area was amazing though, very nice.

We stayed in one of the "Economy" rooms in the grounds of the hotel. With the exception of some damp on the walls, the facilities were excellent and the pool was lovely. Friendly staff and lovely environment, but our reservation on screen said "including breakfast", yet on printing breakfast was not included. BE careful of this when booking as hotel breakfast is €10 per person per day. Otherwise we had a fab stay and would happily return - perfect location for exploring the Sorrentine peninsular, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Erculaneam, etc.
2.0 / 5.0
Though on the western part of the Sorrento peninsula, this hotel is not that far from Positano / Amalfi. Approach from Naples side definitely felt like driving through a ghetto until we came into Vic Equense. Big hotel, great views of the Bay from our room, and a nice pizzeria around the corner. As our 1st stay in southern Italy, we definitely felt a difference in the warmth of the staff & service (colder here) compared to the ones we stayed up in the north & central parts....Room was quite decent for a family stay.
