Always a great experience.

Unique and stunning boutique hotel. The hotel did a phenomenal job of maintaining features from the original convent while creating a modern experience. Balconies and patios with fountains and hanging orchids are around every turn of the property. The rooms are lovely and very quiet- each one unique. One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had - included in the stay. The team are lovely and very helpful. The central location is perfect for exploring the old city center and exquisite dining and boutique shops. Can’t wait to return!

This property is amazing, especially for a solo traveler I felt completely safe. The staff was very tentative to me and it was very much appreciated. The location was very convenient to a lot of stuff and was very walkable to a lot of restaurants and sights. I will definitely stay here again if I would to come back to Guatemala.

Historical building, great atmosphere

Staff was a bit nonchalant. Made us wait after check in time for a room. We had two small kids so the wait was a bit excessive.

The hotel is like being in a Antigua old house just renovated! Excellent service

El Convento is an absolute gem. Nestled behind the unassuming exterior walls is a quaint sanctuary and perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Antigua. The staff was attentive, and maintenance/cleaning was ongoing and evident as the grounds are immaculate. Suite 8 was incredibly spacious, and the outdoor garden patio with jacuzzi was lovely. The included breakfast was fresh and had a nice variety. Pool was Instagram worthy, though small and quite cold - it was refreshing on the hottest of days. The hotel location was walkable to all major sites with ease (3-10 minutes), yet far enough away to feel secluded. Absolutely recommend El Convento without hesitation !

While we waited for our room to be ready we decided to relax by the pool. We asked for limes for our drinks, and they said they were out. We had to ask twice and it still took over an hour to get limes. We ran out of toilet paper and I requested more through whatsapp I asked twice. They NEVER brought more. I noticed the glass water bottle they provide in the room had lipstick on the rim (someone drank from the bottle before) so we did not drink it and waited for the next day to get a new one. after the room was cleaned and they put a new bottle, IT HAD THE SAME LIPSTICK ON IT. THey do not wash the glass water bottles provided in the rooms. Also, there is a large water tank in the hallway that you can get water from and it was almost empty when we left at 12pm to walk around. I told the front desk about it to please refill it because we did not have any water. when we got back to the hotel at 6 pm it still was empty. Any concerns I shared or needs we had were not attended too. We will not be staying here ever again.

The room was nice but did not like the bathroom too much as the bathtub took a while to drain. Other than that it was a great property. The breakfast options are delicious. Definitely would stay here again.

Fabulous week, room, breakfasts
at El Convento! Expensive, but worth it. The only flaw in a perfect week was that they insisted we pay $20 for a chipped coffee cup that tipped off of a nightstand. After spending over 3 grand for a week, my wife negotiated $12 for the cup.

Excellent location to all of Antigua! Service was impeccable, the grounds beautiful and the room spectacular! Looking forward to staying here again next year

The hotel is an oasis in a noisy busy city. The gardens, group areas and restaurant are beautiful and well kept. The upper patio is especially wonderful. I do wish the pool was nicer. It is small and very cold and in a dark place in the garden.

El Convento is quaint, quiet and simply wonderful! If you are thinking of staying here be sure and book early because there aren’t many rooms and it fills up fast! We had to move rooms mid-stay because they were didn’t have the same room available throughout our stay. The hotel is beautiful and has a lovely rooftop and many quiet sitting areas available to all guests.

The rooms and grounds are stunningly beautiful and well-manicured. The breakfast in the morning, made to order, was definitely what you'd find in a 5-star hotel. Staff was super helpful and recommended places to eat and offered tours, massages and more. I lost a screw from my favorite sunglasses while there and one of the staff fixed them. It's located within walking distance of everything you'd want to see in downtown Antigua. I can't say enough.

El Convento was undergoing some cosmetic work to the street-facing outside walls during our stay, so pulling up to the hotel for the first time was “unassuming”. Once inside, the experience was everything one could ask of a luxury boutique hotel. My favorite aspect was the blending of “old historic convent” with a very well appointed and functional hotel. Wood work, tile, common spaces, restaurant, pool, and upstairs patio are gorgeous. The staff is excellent and very helpful. Ariana at the reception desk great. And helped arrange transportation for us to go to Panajachel/Lake Atitlan for a couple days. If you need transportation, ask for Edgar Barrillas. He is excellent. During the 2 hour drive to Pana, he was a wealth of historical information on the region. He even picked us up after stay in Quetzaltenango and drove us back to Antigua. The property is stunningly beautiful, but the mark of an elite hotel is the staff. I would definitely recommend this boutique hotel for a stay in Antigua!

My room was not ready, they did not provide the key. I had to look for them and ask for my key.
