The gentleman at reception was of the utmost kindness, very kind and helpful. Thank you

Not on ground floor. Carrying luggage up a flight 1-1/2 of stairs , loose tiles. Had to argue to get air conditioner in room. All lights are turned off daily. You had to manually turn on hallway lights at the hotel(not room). No staff available after 9:30.
Rooms we clean and tidy.

I asked for late check-in and they charged me 60€ just because they sent me an email with instructions. No employ was waiting for me to justify this amount. They also offered to charge me 50€ if I would pay in cash (is this tax evasion or what?)
The place is the usual old building lightly renovated to pretend that it's a hotel and charge this ridiculous price, for the level of the accommodation. Terrible mattress, small uncomfortable bathroom, too noisy toilet flush refill.
The breakfast was awful. Not at all recommended. There are a lot more nice places in Catania.

I had a very large suite and the host helped me in everything. The only problem was the location of the bus station bit it is a problem in Catania.

The hotel is very central, old style and comfortable for short stays.

Terrible mattress for sleeping

Pretty bleak - turned out our room only had a window onto an external corridor, so it could not be opened. Advertised as having parking, but it's actually in a paid car park about ten minute's walk from the hotel. Would not stay here again.

The room was very spacious.

We mistakenly booked for dates in November instead of October. After discussions with the booking agent, we were told to go to the Hotel on 19 October and the Hotel would see what they could do. When we got there, the Manager said he could do nothing about the problem and he had no more rooms. We could already see from online booking sites, including the agent we had booked through, that there were indeed rooms available. The gentleman just couldn't be bothered tending to our concerns. Our mistake initially, Yes, but he should have shown some understanding. We subsequently found a fabulous apartment by the amphitheatre, much cheaper than this Hotel and totally modern. So some good emerged from the cold and uncaring attitude that greeted us at Hotel Etnea.

Property in a very good location and owners very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable but the bathroom could have done with a refurb shower not that great and also room very noisy at night with road noise. We stayed in room 1. So didn't sleep very well.

My partner and I opted to stay in this hotel for convenience. For £23/night including breakfast we didn’t have high expectations. However, it was extremely difficult to find and if it was not for a guest passing by we wouldn’t have found it at all. The floor in the bedroom felt really dirty so we opted to wear flip flops. The shower head only let out a small sprinkle of water due to heavy limescale.
The breakfast was simple but worth the extra few £ until we were told we were only allowed one bread roll per person as the hotel was full. One receptionist that checked us in and explained the limitations of breakfast was particularly patronising and brash to us. We would not recommend this hotel and will not return.

Comfortable hotel right in Catania center. Historic building and turned into a hotel.

to connect to the wifi, I had to move from the bedroom to the antechamber of the bathroom, where there was not a table in it ', the electrical connection for my pc. In the bedroom, courtesy lights (those next to the bed) were not connected to some electrical source!

Poorly lit walk-up, poorly lit spartan room. A relic of the 19thC without the candles. Should be listed as an expensive youth hostel. The very central location is its only saving grace.

Very unique. Our room had a king size, queensize and twin thefe were two in our party. There was a
w a corredor to the private bathroom. There was a private sittng room in between. Shower was very small (only downfall). Marco and domenico were great hosts. I would stay here again. Location is perfectly cental for busses, taxis and "hop off hop on " sight seeing bus. Via etnea is the main street of catania.

Nice location. Old and a bit tired. Mosquito situation to not open window was disappointing

Hotel Etnea 316 is a small friendly place with helpful and friendly staff. It is centrally situated for the main attractions in Catania. Getting there from the airport is easy as the Alibus stops virtually on the doorstep. The rooms are basic but very clean and bed comfortable. No tea making facilities in the room but you can ask at reception and they will make one for you. Reception is manned 24 hours a day. I went on the trip to Etna with Marco who is very personable and knowledgeable and obviously enjoys sharing his country with people. Would recommend to friends and family.

The hotel is well located. marco is an outstanding host. We did a tour guide with him on the Mount Etna and he was very knowledgeble. Our stay in Catania was fun because of him.

When you 1st get to the hotel you are not sure if you are in the right place. There is a bell on the wall which is answered swiftly and then you go up a flight of stairs. You are greeted with a warm welcome no matter who is on duty at the time. Our Room was nice, very clean and air conditioned. We never booked Breakfast but was advised for a small charge there was breakfast available the price was very reasonable but as i say we never had it. The hotel is very close to everything you want to see and bang in the city centre. We arranged the tour of Mount Etna with hotel and it was just brilliant we had a great day out . If we were to go back to Catania we would stay here again absolutely.

We stayed here for a week and couldnt fault it. Marco and his staff are amazing and very helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean with a large comfy bed. The hotel is on the first floor of a large building - the outside appearance may be off putting to some but the hotel itself is great. It is situated on the main street opposite the Bellini Gardens and the airport bus stop. There are plenty of great places to eat nearby and its not far to walk down to the Duomo and other places of interest. We will certainly stay here on our next trip.

Excellent staff, nothing was too much trouble. Very characteristic place, feels Sicilian and when in Sicily that's exactly what you want. Would stay again

Nice large room, ice cold floors (this was Jannuary) but the temperature in the room was fine. I hade the room nearest the reception and I could from time to time hear the "night portier" Skyping with his girlfriend trough the thin door.
Overall, I would not mind staying there again if I needed an hotel in Catania...

Good hotel in an old and beautiful building. Breakfast was average. Staff are helpful and friendly. You must keep windows closed due to mosquitos.

This was a great choice. The location is really good - just up from the centre of Catania in a 200 year old building. Most importantly, Marco and Domenico are great - friendly and helpful, making it a joy to stay there. Take up Marcos offer of trips to Etna or wherever - hes a great and obliging guide.

Very friendly staff in a boutique hotel (although I would call it more of a guest house than a hotel). Breakfast was continental (breads, fruit, cereals, yoghurt). The building was obviously a very old Italian style with just 1 floor converted into hotel rooms with very high ceilings. In our room (no.8) the balcony had scaffolding covering it, making it not really usable & the TV did not work, but we got strong WiFi as we were almost next to the Reception desk, which was manned 24-hours a day. If it is luxury (or restaurants, bars, gyms, etc.) that you are after, it is not the place for you, but we were made to feel very welcome & the room was comfortable enough.

Lots of work being done, breakfast lovely, rooms quirky, service exceptional, area very chaotic noisy felt like lots of sirens but was very good for local amenities
2.0 / 5.0
The building was built in 1836 which is converted to 10 bedrooms. Our clean bedroom #1 was very spacious overlooking the Etnea street. The building front is being upgraded and our bedroom looks out at the staging. There is a 24" tube type TV but the video & sound is good and all in Italian channels with free WiFi. There is no coffee pot & a safe to store your vauables. There is plenty of light in the room which had 2 twin beds and a 2 twin beds together to make 1 bed the size of a queen which is comfortable. The clean washroom with lots of towels with the latest regular toilet and bidet. The shower stall is not large and a large person would have difficult time entering. The closet has amble storage for luggage and clothing.
The staff are easy to talk with and will go out of their way to answer all your needs. The owner is Marco with employees Massimo and Nish and all speak English. They are working 24/7 in the office.
When you arrive at the hotel - ring the intercom on the right side of the door wall and state your name. The latch will open to the huge door and push hard to enter. Walk 5 paces and on the right push open the door which leads you to the marble stairway to walk up to the 1st floor. Ring the buzzer on the right side of the door and the door will slightly open. Entering you are greeted by one of the employee. You can come back to the hotel any part of the day and you go through the same procedure. The Bus stop is in front of the hotel.

Centrally located well run hotel with lovely staff. We were in Catania for 5 night stay, mainly to work (photography) but also to visit the city. We had a very warm welcome and were really well looked after by all of the hotel staff who are great. Recommended hotel, no frills but everything you need and in a very central location.

Good, central, cheap and clean. But pretty noisy if you have a room on the street

Staff very helpful especially with city parking problems. Good breakfast with Sicilian delicacies. Walking distance from attractions i.e. castle, cathedral and fish market.

Difficult to find but so worth the effort. Located in Ortija, the historic area of Syracusa in a narrow alley among old buildings and there's even a small piazza outside the b & b. Room immaculate with beutifully appointed ammenities. Lots of light, crisp sheets, modernized updated bathroom. Beautiful main downstairs with good wi-fi connection. Breakfast very nice with wide assortment of foods. Staff very helpful. A great value. Wish we could have stayed longer!
