We spent one night at Mariano IV Palace Hotel. The hotel has a glamorous exterior, but the rooms are a bit dated once you step inside, although they were clean. We encountered some difficulty during check-in as they seemed to have overlooked our Expedia request, which is understandable since we booked just an hour before arrival. The breakfast provided was average. The surrounding area is currently under construction, so it's advisable to avoid spending time nearby and instead explore other parts of the city.

The street that the hotel is on is populated by a multicultral/multirace community. The "feeling" was that of uncertinty of safety.

Town centre with cafés and bars just a few minutes walk and room was large. It was a bit noisy when we were there, there was some building work next door and the hotel is on the main road.

The hotel is well located, but the air conditioning is a big problem, it doesn't freeze, it's central and old and makes you feel very hot, especially in summer. They don't have parking so you have to pay for the available parking lots in front and keep an eye on the time so you don't get fined, you also need to cross the street with your bags to go to the parked car. I suggest the hotel add fans in the rooms, as the air does not work, nor does it freeze.

Night receptionist (that was at our check out) must be forbidden to work in Hospitality industry. So rude with clients and has no training at all. Unprofessional. Room 140 is not the best, has no balcony, no view, and the bathroom is old and not clean.

Classic old style Italian hotel.
I really liked it, big room, comfortable bed, decent breakfast
My wife not so keen as she prefers modern decor and found it a little faded

The hotel is ok, but they have garage facilities but deemed not to use for guest why? So you run the gauntlet of trying to find somewhere to park.
Common parts lovely rooms jaded!

Staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. Breakfast was very nice buffet. Parking nearby on street was easy and free. Good walking to center. Room was comfortable, clean, nice linens, amenities. Mattress was a bit dippy but not awful. Used as base for driving to Cabras and Tharros. Easy out and back excursions.

No atmosphere, Bar was not always manned and it was down to reception staff to pour the drinks, if the phone rang or someone nned to be checked in they took priority. 3 tables out the front, ashtrays were not emptied until the next day. Nice garden area which needs to be utilised more, open a bar? If you sit out the front wear a face mask as it is on a very busy road.
Room was noisy, we heard people talking in their rooms, heard the showers and toilets flushing, not very nice at 06.30 or when they came back after an evening out. Overlooked a houses and the occupants liked to spend their evenings sitting talking and having their meals outside, also noisy.
Definitly not a 4 star hotel ,maybe 3 star.

Perfect service. Greeted with smiles, loads of info and attentive service, it lasted throughout our staySuper nice restaurant attached to the hotel, great food, sophisticated and good, at a very reasonable price.Great room overlooking the garden. Amenities and bath are regular. Nothing crazy but comfortable and cute and clean. The only objection I have is on my mattress which looked ok at the beginning of the night but caved under me and I woke up in a hole, with a nice case of back pain :-) felt like whomever had slept there before weighted at least 200 lbs. I didnt say anything as I stayed only one night but I would have needed a different mattress in order to extend my stay. I am sure I would have been taken care of though. The beaches around the Oristano Gulf are incredible.

Once this was clearly a grand and prestigious hotel and elements of the devour remain whilst the furnishings are now more eclectic. We only stayed 2 days as part of our tour so Sardinia. Due to the one way system the hotel was difficult to locate when we first arrived but there is free public parking (white bays - you pay in the blue) in the piazza across from the hotel.
There was no wi-fi and the TV wasn't working but didn't have an English language news channel in any case.
The hotel bar was very reasonably priced. Breakfast was cold continental buffet.
The local restaurants particularly the traditional Sardinian with unusual fayre (like donkey) were excellent. Be warned however on the first night there eating outside I got 24 mosquito bites. It made the next several days uncomfortable. We had previously stayed in the NW and N and I wasn't bitten there at all.
