Stunning 16 century building with gorgeous stone cottages that actually look like the pictures online! Angelina at reception was fantastic and the restaurant was excellent.
Just duck as you walk round and through the doorways as the Elizabethans were much shorter!

Good Location, nice property but the water pressure in the bathroom was apalling

Lovely hotel, very welcoming and easy and helpful communication. Stunning food in the restaurant. Comfortable room.

This was our second stay at The Great House. Last time we had a room in the hotel building this time it was in the "annex". Very comfortable, large room. Staff were all really nice, very good breakfast on both days. Enjoyed the cocktails too. Thanks to all the team.

Very clean friendly beautiful place

Interesting building but some communal areas scruffy and need to be decorated. We had room 8, good size, plenty of space for clothes, and spotless. Bathroom looks stylish but not practical - mirror over washbasin positioned for someone taller than 5ft 2in (my height) all I could see was my forehead!! Getting in and out of the bath to use the shower was risky - nothing to hold onto and no bath mat (how does that comply with Health & Safety?) Two of the windows were at the side of the building above the noisy air-conditioning unit, we had to keep the windows open all night due to hot weather. Breakfast both days ok but noticed other guests who ordered cooked food left most of it. Not enough staff for the number of overnight guests but they were pleasant and helpful.

Stunning grade 2 listed building, beautiful room, staff can't do enough for you and the food was exquisite

Two night stay. Pleasant hotel. Nothing really negative and nothing outstanding..

A beautiful old (16th Century) building about 2 miles from Bridgend and close to Ogmore by Sea (visit highly recommended). We were lucky to visit on a sunny day and to take advantage of the garden while having a drink (cocktails very good!) and snack for lunch. We were very warmly welcomed at Reception and loved our large room. Very good value for money - to stay at a character property. There's a bus stop opposite which was really helpful as we were expecting to walk the 2 miles to a train station to go to Cardiff.A real unexpected bonus was how beautiful the nearby coastal area was.

Beautiful property, friendly & efficient staff.
4.4
Staff friendly and helpful. Communal areas in better state than main building rooms and corridors. Food excellent as was service.
4.4
Unpretentious but fully functional room with fantastic shower (room 4) but noisy as nearby church bell rang every hour throughout the night. The restaurant was good despite a limited choice menu, the breakfast was excellent but the service a bit inattentive. Plenty of parking. Overall, good VFM and a good base for the nearby Heritage Coast.

Lovely place to stay. I stayed for work, really nice people and comfortable rooms. Will defo stay again

Dreadful hotel with poor facilities, old uncomfortable beds.

Room was clean and comfortable but very tired.
Food was fine but insufficient serving staff.

Nice will be going back next week, only marked down on dust under rad when I took my top of the rad, there was a line of dust along the bottom, tv took about 10 min to turn on could do with a new remote, best pint of lager i have had in a long time, nice staff. Wish it was my local, thanks letting me stay

It was OK. A pity the restaurant wasn’t open, but there’s a good (but expensive) restaurant a five minute walk away. The rooms are tired (cracked mirror on wardrobe door, cracked hand basin, bedroom door a bit flimsy) but it looks like there’s a refurbishment programme underway. Breakfast was OK. The outside of the building is lovely; the interior is nowhere near as pleasant.

Business stopover. Clean with really friendly staff and a brilliant restaurant right next door. No need for plastic small shampoo bottles, otherwise all good.
4.4
Quiet, staff friendly, easy to do early checkout. Room clean and spacious.
4.4
A fascinating historical building with lovely refurbished stylish rooms. The restaurant food was one of the best meals I’ve had with great service and top quality presentation and taste.

We've stayed in Bridgend several times before but never here, and this was a great find. Room was lovely and very friendly staff.
4.4
Excellent service from staff and food was exceptional for the price.

The room was the last they had and was small for what we normally go for as there was no where to put our suitcase without tripping over it. The room was clean and warm but couldn't sleep for the noisy loud neighbours who kept us awake until 3.00 . The breakfast was ok but would prefer back bacon nor undercooked streaky.

Very comfortable, convenient and welcoming

First class hotel friendly efficient staff refurbished 1856 building simply stunning. Food out of this world. Highly recommend ❤️

A lovely old house, full of character and history, slightly marred by the modern furniture and wallpaper. we hoped to enjoy the uniqueness, history and character of this hotel as displayed on the website. Unfortunately we were sadly disappointed. After browsing the lovely rooms and descriptions on the website we were led to believe that is what we had booked . Unfortunately on arrival we were put in a "Garden Suite", which was not in the garden, it was in the carpark, and it was not a suite it was one room. A modern annex devoid of character, clean, comfortable, but not what we were expecting. I feel slightly decieved and very disappointed. it was only the very friendly and helpful staff that redeemed it.

Room very big. Bed very comfortable. Refurb needed and furniture needs a deep clean. Forgivable as theyve probably not had an easy time due to covid. Excellent friendly service. Great food in restaurant, nice bar.

In the area to play golf. Location was easy to find and lovely old Manor House for Accomodation. No lifts and stairs were a little tight to get all bags upstairs to rooms. Rooms were pleasant and comfortable. Bathroom could do with some upgraded plumbing as getting a comfortable heat in the shower was difficult with old mixer taps. As we would expect, the rooms were a little smaller than modern hotels, and electric sockets were a little sparse for modern living. The meal we had at the hotel was superb and the service was excellent; would thoroughly recommend. We were a little disappointed when checking out that we were presented with an incorrect bill (which was amended following our query). Friends who were also staying staying had the same and they will be looking for a refund as they have paid when booking. No pleasantries were expressed when we left, such as asking whether we had an enjoyable stay?” Not a big thing but left our final impression as a little flat. Would definitely stay there again.

Stunning hotel, great value for money in a really lovely village with a couple of traditional pubs nearby.

Stayed two nights. Lovely breakfast comfortable bed and very helpful, friendly staff. Couldn’t have been better.

I had booked as a surprise for my husbands birthday. Looking at the pictures on website the rooms and hotel connubial areas looked stunning
However I was somewhat disappointed to find our room although clean was very dated and needed attention in lots of areas. The headboard moved and make a noise every time I moved. The mattress was lumpy. Pillows were lumpy. There were dust webs across ceiling. The bathroom had dust webs down side of bath. The fan did not function. The over mirror light did not stay on. Kept flashing. Again a shower over the bath is difficult to get into and old fashioned. Although the website said rooms were serviced. We came back to find this had not be done. We asked and staff remarked that it was due to covid. However we did ask for our cups to be replaced and our tea and coffee to be replenished which staff did. The website should state that this is not a service being offered at this time.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. We dinned in the Resteraunt on the first evening. Food was really lovely. A small but select menu. A good choice of meals.
The breakfast was disappointing not to have any choice of fresh fruit or continental. However the menu for cooked was excellent.
The first morning the chef was late and a young lady cooked out meals so was running late in delivering the food as we were not the only guests in the breakfast room. However she did a fab job.
Over all a nice stay however would not stay in that room again.

Considering the times and restrictions we are subject too, the service was very good. Food was also very good and the cooked breakfast was much appreciated.

Clean good beer and food

Lovely old building with a contemporary style. Friendly and helpful staff. The regal suite was lovely and roomy. Food was great, apart from the dessert, which in fairness we did not get charged for. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Business traveller. Very pleasant change from the chain hotels i usually end up in. Looked after me really well, thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
4.4
The building has great character and staff who are excellent.
There was a large stain on our bedroom floor, which was covered by a small. mat. This was in a dangerous position in the night.
4.4
Unfortunately the springs in the mattress in our original room were damaged. Whilst we were given another much nicer room it was over the kitchen. As such it was very warm and whilst windows were opened we then had the smell of food and noise of the extraction unit.
4.4
Water nice and hot and good pressure for shower. Nice big bathroom, bedroom a bit small, but overall ok. Stayed for dinner which was very nice.
